LOS ANGELES (OC).–Calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Ukraine War, French President Emmanuel Macron, U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer a nd German Chacellor Friedrich Merz asked Russian President Vladimir Putin for an urgen Trump. Russian missile strikes continue to cause casualties in residential areas adding to the civilian death toll. President Donald Trump has tried to convince Ukranian President Volodymyr Zeleneksy and the European Union that following his peace plan would end the conflict, spare more infrastructure damage and civilian casualties and being Ukraine’s process of rebuilding. Yet Zelensky and the EU make every excuse for not following Trump’s realistic peace plan, something he’s vetted with Putin. Zelensky and EU officials have refused to cede sovereign territory to Russia, even though Putin controls over 20% of Ukraine’s sovereign territory.
Trump spent considerable time with his personal envoy Steve Witkoff meeting directly with Putin on several occasions to find out the bottom line for ending the war. Putin agreed to trade eastern Donbas, with Donetsk and Luhansk, to trade land-for-pace but Zelensky and the EU rejected the idea. EU officials thought ceding land to Putin would open up a can of worms with Putin expecting more EU territory. Putin has said repeatedly he wants no territory form the EU only territory he’s won on the battlefield. .Finally, Zelensky and the EU seems to want to negotiate and end to the war, including ceding Putin land he’s worn over the last four years. Putin no longer sees the war as one with Ukraine but with the EU that has funded Zelensky to continue battling the Kremlin. Puin understands that Trump does not back continue war with the Russian Federation.
No. 10 Downing Street expressed condemnation for ongoing Russian missile and drown attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine. “”They condemned Russia’s large scale missle and drone attacks including the repeated use of the Oreshnik missiles—on Ukrainian cities with tragic toll on civilians, as well as irresponsible and dangerous Russian drone incursion into NATO territory,” read the joint communique. Whatever communiqué comes from No, 10 Downing Street, they say nothing of Ukraine attacks stretching as far as St. Petersburg, Putin’s home town. “They expressed their condolences to all the victims,” mentioning nothing about Russian casualties from Ukrainian attacks. Zelensky and the EU have a choice to continue the war or to settle the conflict by negotiation and compromise. Zelensky and the EU have so far rejected Trump’s peace plans.
When Ukraine and the EU meet in Evian and the NATO summit in Ankara, they need to decide whether to continue the same approach or truly seek peace through real negotiation and compromise. Zelensky and the EU can’t continue to keep doing the same old thing and expet different results. Trump gave Zelensky and the EU a war out but it would require Ukraine to trand-land-for-peace. Putin isn’t about to end the conflict without getting some with Ukraine after spending over four years at war. “They discussed how to use the upcoming G7 summit at Evian, the next meeting of the coalition of the willing, and the NATO summit at Ankara to best coordinate futurther support for Ukraine based on its prioritized needs, including further pressure on Russia’s war economy and an increased pledge of military and defenses support for Ukraine at the NATO summit,”read the Downing Street coumminque.
Zelensky and the EU have opted to take on the Russian Federation, lending Zelensky over 2 billion euros to keep the war going. EU officials, led by Macron, Starmer and Merz, have opposed Trump’s peace plan because it cedes Ukrainian territory to Putin. But in any war, there’s a victor and the vanquished, in this case Zelensky who’s soend over four years losing ground to the Kremlin. So, if you read between the lines with the EU, it looks like they still oppose settling the conflict, even though they formally ask for truce. Zelensky recently asked Putin to meed face-to-to-face, something Putin rejected, know it would be used by Zelensky to blame Putin for the war. Putin wants both Ukranian and Russian delegations to work on a formal peace settlement before he meets directly with Zelensky. It makes no sense for both leaders to meet before a deal is reached.
Zelensky and the EU does not advance the cause of peace by making unilateral declarations about ceasefires and truces, when nothing has been discussed or worked out between the two sides. “The leaders underlined the urge need to scale up production of interceptors and co-develop anti-ballistic missile and deep strike capabilities, and to support the future sustainability of the Ukrainian armed forees,” said the No. 10 Downing Street communique. Does that sound like Zelensky and the EU want a peace deal with the Russian Federation? It shows clearly that they want the war to continue no matter what the consequences to the European Continent. Trump has a real peace deal, all rejected by Zelensky and the EU. If Zelensky and the EU gets its way, the war with Russia will continue indefinitely into the foreseeable future.
