LOS ANGELES.–Interviewed by Time Magazine after getting Person of the Year, 78-year-old President-elect Donald Trump questioned Ukraine’s actions of firing U.S. and U.K.-made long-range missiles deep inside Russia. “It’s crazy what’s taking place. It’s crazy. I disagree very vehemently with sending missiles hundreds of miles into Russia. What are we doing that? We’re just escalating this war and making it worse. That should not have been allowed to be done,” Trump told Time Magazine. Trump responded to 82-year-old President Joe Biden giving Ukraine’s 46-year-old President Volodymyr Zelensky the green light Nov. 18 to start using U.S. long-range missiles to hit Russian targets. Biden thinks striking deep inside Russia gives Ukraine more leverage in any future peace talks. Where he comes to that conclusion is anyone’s guess. Trump says it just escalates the war, making things worse.
Time Magazine acts clueless interviewing Trump that he would oppose a last-ditch Biden policy, now that he’s leaving office in five weeks. Why would Biden want to make things for Trump more difficult when it comes to negotiating a political settlement? Biden’s underlings, including 63-year-old Secretary of State Antony Blinken and 47-year-old National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, are all in on implementing Biden’s plan to surge more cash-and-weapons to Ukraine until the day he leaves office. Sullivan admitted that Biden asked him to get every penny of Congressional allocations to give Kiev as much cash-and-weapons as possible before he leaves office. Congressional war hawks want the war to continue indefinitely, draining the U.S. Treasury, but, more importantly, risking WW III or nuclear war in Europe, potentially spreading to the United States.
Trump opposes Biden’s Ukraine War policy in the strongest possible terms. Trump sees Biden’s proxy war in Ukraine with the Kremlin as destroying decades of diplomacy, détente, arms control and global cooperation with the Russian Federation. Relations with Russia have sunk below levels of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis where the old Soviet Union and the U.S. almost came to nuclear war because of Moscow installing nuclear missiles in Cuba, some 90 miles from Miami Beach. Relations are actually must worse today as Trump points out with Biden authorizing Zelensky to fire U.S. missiles deep inside Russian territory. Biden responded to Putin’s decision to deploy 10,000 North Korean troops to the Kursk border region where Ukraine invaded Russia Aug. 8 in a desperate attempt to attempt to stop Putin’s continued incursion and seizure of Ukrainian territory.
Whatever North Korea does to help Russia, Moscow has a mutual defense treaty with North Korean President Kim Jong-un. Since Biden’s proxy war with Russia, Putin has developed close economic, military and strategic ties to China and North Korea. North Korea supplies Russia with artillery shells and now troops to expel Ukrainian troops from Russian territory. Biden reacted by telling Zelensky Nov. 18 it was OK to use U.S.-made ATACMs long-range missiles to strike deep inside the Russian Federation. Trump sees no possible advantage for Ukraine because they’ve already lost the war and continue to destroy more Ukrainian infrastructure and lose more sovereign territory. Trump told Time Magazine he had a “very good plan” to end the war but wouldn’t elaborate on the details. “It becomes almost a worthless plan,” if he reveals it in advance.
Time Magazine asked Trump if would abandon Ukraine. “I want to reach an agreement and the only way you’re going to reach an agreement is not to abandon,” adding that adding North Korean troops was a “very complicating factor.” Time Magazine tried to get Trump to reveal details of his peace plan but refused to take the bait. Trump has learned that the fake news is no friend of his, tries to make him look bad no matter what. When it comes to Ukraine, it’s odd how the Ukraine War is backed by all U.S. broadcast and print outlets. You’d think that the press would be pro-negotiation and peace to settle global conflicts. But Biden has the U.S. backing the Ukraine War as proof of patriotism. Trump has bucked the U.S. media narrative and has called for an immediate ceasefire, puzzled by Zelensky’s continued attacks with U.S. weapons deep inside Russia.
Trump made clear to all his supporters during the 2024 campaign he would end the Ukraine War as a matter to top priority when he takes office. If he could get a deal now he would do it but obviously Biden is still in power until noon, Jan. 20, 2025. Whatever Putin does been now and Inauguration Day, Trump hopes he’ll show some restraint knowing that things will change once he takes office. Time asked Trump whether he has spoken to Putin since winning the Nov. 5 presidential election. “I can’t tell you. I can’t tell you. It’s just inappropriate,” Trump said, knowing the answer was rather obvious. With Zelensky running wild, trying to hit Russia with everything’s he got, Trump hopes that Putin understands it’s only temporary until he steps in. Zelensky and Biden lost the war over two years ago and have done nothing but destroy Ukraine with a reckless and costly war.
