It you listen to CNN, the people against Donald Trump is an open-and-shut case, watching hosts like Dana Bash scoff at anyone that doesn’t buy her anti-Trump rhetoric. Imagine that, an entire media establishment trying-and-convicting Trump based on hearsay and innuendo, something commonly practiced in the U.S. press. Left-wing media seeks anyone to bolster their case using prominent anti-Trump Republicans to make their case, like 60-year-old former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, currently running for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.
Christie epitomizes the symbiotic relationship between anti-Trump Republicans and the ravenous press, who’s used Trump for the last seven years for ratings. Without Trump in the spotlight, TV news ratings, whether network of cable, hit rock bottom, all because of the public’s insatiable appetite for dirt. Trump new defense attorney has taken on the media single-handedly, finally pushing back at a media narrative designed to try-and-convict Trump in the press, denying him the presumption of innocence or his 14th Amendment rights. Trump’s legal woes parallel those of former NFL star O.J. Simpson whose murder trial, deemed the trial of the century, dominated daytime TV for nearly two years, creating a new genre of realty TV. Now Trump’s legal problems dominate the daytime soaps, making for riveting TV, without the government yet accepting cameras in federal courtrooms.
Lauro reminds an entertainment-driven press that the law is tough business, not the kind of snowflake activity seen in the media. Lauro presents tidbits of Trump’s defense when it comes to the ex-president’s insistence after the 2020 election that he was robbed of his office by a corrupt election. Anti-Trump media types push back that no court anywhere found evidence of widespread voter fraud, often citing another disloyal former employee, former Atty. Gen. Bill Barr, a frequent guest on liberal TV, bolstering the anti-Trump narrative. Barr, like Christie, has nothing good to say about Trump, often agreeing with the liberal press that Trump is guilty as charged. Faced with Lauro giving an alternative point-of-view, the media quakes, all because their case against Trump isn’t about facts but about salacious gossip. Anyone daring, like Lauro, to disagree with the anti-Trump narrative, is met with a mob-like pile on, attempting to prove Trump’s guilt beyond-a-reasonable-doubt, but, in the media’s case, only with gossip, no facts. When it comes to Special Counsel Jack Smith, he’s joined the media mob, telling the public that Trump is a treat to U.S. national security, all because the FBI found some old classified docs in worthless old junk contained in moving boxes at Mar-a-Lago. Forget about the developing story, completely ignored by the anti-Trump press, of President Joe Biden’s business ties with his 53-year-old son Hunter, something Biden denied in the 2020 campaign any knowledge of Hunter’s business dealings. Hunter is under indictment for income tax evasion and operating as an unregistered foreign agent, making millions with foreign governments, including U.S. adversaries.
Back in the 2020 campaign, Biden said that any story about his son Hunter was Russian disinformation, including a laptop computer, found in a Delaware computer shop revealing much of Hunter’s overseas business dealings involving his father, then Vice President Joe Biden. Yet the media finds any reason to discredit any incriminating activity by the Biden family, including Joe’s 74-year-old brother Jim with whom Joe has been in business. No, to the anti-Trump media anything remotely incriminating about Joe is off limits, only Trump can be investigated and charged with crimes. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (D-Ohio) and Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) currently investigate the prospect of impeaching Biden for real crimes in overseas business dealings with his son Hunter and brother Jim, something that could lead to impeachment.
Trump attorney Lauo has forcefully challenged the anti-Trump media narrative that has the ex-president tired and convicted of all charges against him. Lauro pushed back against the idea that the ex-president has no right to question the 2020 election that pushed him out of office. Lauro pointed out that Trump is entitled to Free Speech like anyone else, noting that his past comments about the 2020 election were not, as Democrats and the press like to call it, the “Big Lie,” that no voter fraud occurred in 2020. Lauro points out, for instance, that pending charges from Fulton County District Atty. Fanni Willis were based on a misunderstanding. Trump never tired to squeeze more votes from Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, only asked him to make sure the vote count was accurate.
