Revoking the security clearance of former CIA Director John Brennan Aug. 15, 72-year-old President Donald Trump infuriated the left-wing media, screaming foul for what looks like political payback. Former national security officials usually keep their clearances for years after completing assignments, typically when administrations change hands. Brennan was sworn in March 8, 2013, after former CIA Director four-star Gen. David Petraeus was forced to resign Nov. 9, 2012 for an affair with his biographers Paula Broadwell. Compared to the shenanigans of today’s elected officials, including sexual assault, Petraeus’s infractions look mild by comparison. Brennan picked up the pieces at the CIA when when Petraeus was forced out. Brennan lost his security clearance not for loyalty to former President Barack Obama but because he lacked the discretion to attack Trump as a political hack for CNN.
Brennan was adopted by the anti-Trump news and cable networks for his harsh criticism of the Trump presidency. Brennan doesn’t hesitate to hazard opinions about Trump’s alleged collusion with Russia in the 2016 campaign. Forget about the fact that Special Counsel Robert Mueller hasn’t found Trump’s Russian collusion since appointed Special Counsel May 17, 2017. “I’ve decided to revoke the security clearance of John Brennan, former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Trump’s statement cited “erratic conduct and behavior,” “frenzied commentary,” and “wild outbursts on the Intenet and television,” said the White House statement. Brennan, who served as CIA Director from March 8, 2013 to Jan. 20, 2017, breached CIA protocol using his former position for political purposes. No former CIA or FBI director is supposed to enter the area of politics.
Yet Brennan decided, after completing his stint as CIA director, to join the resistance against Trump. Trump had heard enough following Brennan’s acerbic commentary on the Trump White House since becoming as CNN political hack. Once Brennan decided to join the resistance against Trump, it was a matter of time before he got his security clearance pulled. “The action is part of a broader effort by Mr. Trump to suppress freedom of speech & punish critics. It should gravely worry all American, including intelligence professionals, about the cost of speaking out. My principles are worth far more than clearances. I will not relent,” Brennan tweeted. Brennan’s tweet showed why his loyalty to the Democrat party eclipses his loyalty as a former CIA Director. Brennan wants this to be about free speech, not shooting off his mouth violating CIA protocol
Brennan takes any opportunity since leaving office Jan. 20, 2017 to slam Trump in the media. Left leaning networks and cable shows like to use Brennan to attack Trump, especially before the Midterm elections where Democrats hope to take back the House and Senate. “It’s astounding how often you fail to live up to minimum standards of decency, civility and probity. Seems like you will never understand what it means to be president, nor what it takes to be a good, decent & honest person. So disheartening, so dangerous for our Nation,” Brennan wrote. Brennan doesn’t hesitate to tell anyone what he really feels about Trump. His harsh critiques run counter to any former government employee, no less the CIA Director, unable to control his rage. Brennan says it all when he slams Trump for being an indecent president and person, showing exactly why he got his security clearance revoked.
Brennan expresses directly what cable networks like CNN and MSNBC cannot on the air, lest they’re accused to inappropriate bias. But coming from Brennan’s mouth, he can get away with it. Holding security clearance gives Brennan added credibility, despite out of the intel loop since leaving office. Brennan insists it’s dangerous for the nation to have his security clearance revoked. Yet Brennan’s become a Democrat political hack seeking to discredit Trump whatever way possible before the Midterm elections. Trump’s looking at revoking the security clearances of former Director of National Intelligence Director James Clapper, former FBI Director James Comey, former National Security Adviser Susan Rice, former National Security Agency Director Michael Hayden and former deputy Atty. Gen. Sally Yates, etc. All have actively joined the anti-Trump resistance.
Blaming Trump for retaliating against his critics, Brennan won’t admit he violated CIA protocol, prohibiting ex-directors from taking jobs as political hacks. When Brennan decided to join the Democrats’ anti-Trump resistance, he chose to end his security clearance. While former intel officials like to maintain security clearances, they can’t have it both ways: Deciding to retire from former jobs, while, at the same time, lashing out at the opposition. Brennan thinks it’s a “principled” stand to lash out at a sitting president, knowing it’s strictly forbidden by ex-CIA directors. Brennan lost his security clearance because he couldn’t control his hate toward Trump, thinking it’s “principled” to attack the president whenever possible. Ending his security clearance, Brennan losses his appeal to the anti-Trump media, looking for as much credibility as possible to attack the president.
