LOS ANGEELES (oc).–Days before the State-of-the-Union speech, Democrats are cackling over the Supreme Court’s ruling Feb/ 20 that President Donald Trump must get his tariffs approved by Congress.  Upset with his former Supreme Court picks Associate Justices Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett, Trump rated about the 6-3 ruling against his Article 2 rights as the chief executive to implement tariff policies as he sees fit to manage the U.S. economy, a clear Article 2 mandate for the president of the United States.  Yesterday’s 6-3 ruling, hailed by Democrats, requires Trump to get his tariff requests approved by Congress, something Trump finds unacceptable.  Trump has a lot of explaining to do when he addresses a joint session of Congress, assuming at least some Democrats show up for the speech.  Trump wants the people to know he’s still in charge of tariff policy and the U.S. economy.

Trump doesn’t like when any courts challenges his authority, let alone, like the Supreme Court, clipping his feathers.  “This is the signature economic policy, we’re four days awas from the State of the Union, and he has just been rejected by the cour in a pretty serious public way,” said Allison Smith, a former Biden White House official.  Former Obama and Biden officials are laughing at Trump, watching his handpicked Supreme Court rule against him.  “I would not want to be in the Oval Office right now,” said and unnamed White House official, knowing Trump’s reaction to the ruling.  Trump is already dealing with Democrats shutting down funding to the Immigration, Customs Enforcement [ICE].  Trump’s upcoming State-of-the-Union comes at a time of high tensions, especially in the Mideast where Trump dispatched the Abraham Lincoln and Gerald R. Ford’s carrier strike groups.

Democrats and the fake news are all about politics now, smelling blood in the November Midterm elections.  Trump’s approval ratings have been dropping due to his ICE policy of going into major U.S. cities and rounding up illegal aliens.  When it came to killing anti-ICE protesters, Trump’s approval ratings have been sinking quickly.  When it comes to federal agents engaged in violence with street protesters, Americans of all stripes, Demcorats, Republicians and independents draw the line.  Trump hasn’t done enough to reassure the public that the current crackdown on undocumented communities will end anytime soon.  Speaking at the State-of-the-Union, it’s getting toughter to convice voters that things are going as Trump planned.  Unemployment remains low but ordinary workers complain that it’s harder to find jobs, as corporations retrench on new employees.

Whatever Trump’s foreign policy in Ukraine, Mideast, Venezueala and new developments in Iran, it’s not enough to divert attention away from Trump’s tariff policy.  Trump has fumed over the last 24 hours all because his personal Supreme Court picks betrayed his authority. Democrats have made a federal case out of Trump acting like a dictator or ”king” as Democrats and the fake news rub it in before his State-of-the-Union speech.  “The hardest par tof this ruling for him is going to be the way in which it has take awas his magic tariff Sharpied,” said Peter Harrell, a former Biden official.  “He can’t threaten tariffs on a whim.”  Trump has already in response to the Supreme Court ruling raised tariffs aother 10%-15%.   Democrats and the fake news have won on the tariff issue, blaming Trump for fueling inflation, costing consumers more at the grocery store.

When Trump delivers his speech, don’t expect anything but a overly optimistic speech about how much things are better than when former Presidnet Joe Biden was in office.  Trump has difficulty getting any traction in the press, disparaging his foreign policy and economy.  When Trump couldn’t get a quick end to the Ukraine War, a major campaign promise when by the boards.  Democrats and the fake news hold Trump to his promise to end the Ukraine War in 24-hours.  Over a year after inauguration, Ukraine’s 48-year-old President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin can’t agree on anything.  Both are stuck in their own stubborn positions, refusing to give in.  Zelensky wants Putin to remove his troops from Ukraine.  Putin wants Zelensky to remove his forces for the 80% controlled eastern Donbas region, a sticking point for the Kremlin.

Trump has a tough sell at his State-f-the-Union speech, especially when it comes to yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling on tariffs. Democrats and the fake new have pounced on Trump ready to say “I told you so,” especially with how tariffs might have incrased prices to independent shop owners and consumers.  Trump came to office promising to lower prices, then proceeded to start trade wars with Europe and Asia.  Trump won’t spend too much time dwelling on Democrat talking points, shifting attention to record highs on Wall Street, helping the 401Ks for ordinary workers.  If it weren’t for his failed immigration crackdown, Trump’s approval ratings would be a record highs.  Harassing Latino communites in the West and Southwest has backfired on the White.  Trump must shift gears and rethink policies that are driving down his historically low approval ratings.
