LOS ANGELES (OC).–Chairman of the Munich Security Conference Wolfgang Ischinger said that the Ukraine War staves off Russia aggression in the Eastern flank of NATO, neutralizing Russian President Vladimir Putin.  So, Ischinger, who holds his annual Munich Security Conference Feb, 13-15, exposes the European Union position on the Ukraine War, that it protects Europe from more Russian aggression.  Ukraine 28-year-old President Volodymyr Zelensky has been saying for years that the Ukraine War defends European democracy, essentially the same message as Ischinger, exposing why the EU opposes President Donald Trump’s peace plan.  Trump wants Zelensky to comply with Putin’s minimum requirements for ending the war, ceding the Donbas region to the Russian Federation.  EU officials, led by French President Emmanuel Macron, refuse to cede territory to Russia.

So, what are European doing sabotaging Trump’s peace plans, believing Zelensky that he’s defending European democracy?  Zelensky just walked away with a loan for 200 billion euros guaranteed to keep the war going at least two more years. If Ischinger thinks that the Ukraine War keeps Putin at bay, then it’s no wonder the EU doesn’t want the war to end.  But if you listen to Ischinger, he shouldn’t lead the Munich Security Conference, he should resign in disgrace. How can anyone believe that war-ravaged Ukraine can defend European democracy when they can’t defend their own territory?  Over four years of war, Zelensky has lost tens-f-thousands of soldiers and lost some 25% of Ukraine’s best sovereign territory.  More fighting with the Kremlin guarantees that the Ukraine map shrinks in the next year while Zelensky continue to fight the Kremlin.

Trump’s pleaded with Zelensky to end the war urging him to cut his losses, end the war and start rebuilding his country.  As long as there’s no workable peace plan, Putin continues the war unabated, no reason to slow it down.  Zelensky thinks because he attends peace meetings in various foreign capitals, he shold be praised for peacemaking.  But for months Trump has grown frustrated with Zelenky because he refuses to meet Putin’s minum requirements for peace. Ptutin told Zelensky and Trump that he wants the Ukrainian army to  withdraw from the Donbas region, where the Peoples Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk have Russian enclaves that want no part of Zelensky’s Kiev government.  Zelensky hasn’t controlled Eastern Donbas since the Feb. 22, 2014 Maiden Revolution.. Putin offered Zelensky shortly aftaer the invasion to stop the war if he recognized independence for Donetsk and Luhansk.

Ischignger fears if Zelensky settles the conflict, he’d give Putin the green light to go after more Euorpean territory.  “Then Putin can continue his rearmament in peace, and the threat to NATO  countires on the eastern flank with intensity,” Ischinger said,, not taking Putin at his word that he has no interest in seizing European territory.  If the Munich Security Chief thinks that war is preferred over peace, then there’s no hope for a peaceful settlement anytime soon.  “I wish nothing more for the people of  Ukraine. But the Russian threat will also grow for us Germans if a future ceasefire is not accompanied by massive reduction in the military build up in Russia’s westerm military districts,” Ischinger said, proving he wants nothing to do with Trump peace plan.  EU officials are so misguided about peace, then actually think the Ukraine War improves their security.

Trump faces a real dilemma with the EU and Zelensky convinced they can outlast Putin.  Zelensky said yesterday that the world must make continuing the war untenable for the Russian Federation.  Asking for more long-range weapons, Zelensky wants to continue hitting Putin’s oil and gas infrastructure to degrade his capacity to generate capital from energy sales.  Zelensk6y’s approach doesn’t sound like he has any interest in makin concessions to bring about peace.  So, when it comes to Trump’s peace plans, were now know that Ischinger opposes ending the war because he believes it help neutralize Russia’s military aggression.  Putin has told Zelensky that if he wants war, Russia would oblige him with a long-term conflict.  Ischigter thinks that Russia is a threat to the European Union.  Trump doesn’t believe that Ukraine or the EU can outlast and prevail against Moscow.

Munich Security Conference Chief Ischinger thinks that the Ukraine War serves a puspose to neutralize Russian threats to Europe.  Ischinger has been told by the U.S. and Russia that Putin has no intent of seeking any European territory, despite the warnings by Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer.  “That is why as simple ceasefire would be no reason to sit b ack and relax,” Ischinger said.  “ The question of fate par excellence  for Germany and Eurpe,” Ischinger said, insisting that the Ukraine War defends European security.  With misguided perceptions like that, there’s no hope for Trump’s peace plan in the near future.  EU officials have been just as misguided as Zelensky whose country continues to take a beating because he insists on battling the Kremlin.
