LOS ANGELES (OC).–Striking a train station in the Suny region just north of Kiev injuring 30 civilians, 47-year-old Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky demanded the world respond to Russia’s barbarity.”Preliminary reports indicate that both Ukrzaliznytsia and passengers were at the site of the strike,” Zelensky wrote on X. “The Russians could not have been unaware that they were striking civilians. And this is terror the world must no ignore,” Zelensky said, knowing he receives billions in cash-and-arms from the European Union and the United States. “Some passengers and railway workers are injured,” wrote Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba. Zelensky wants more than cash-and-arms from the the EU and U.S., apparently asking for direct intervention with Russia by foreign powers. Zelensky has been asking the U.S. and EU to get directly involved in the conflict.
So, true to form, Zelensky thinks the EU and U.S. should do more, like get directly involved in the fighting with the Kremlin. If Zelensky doesn’t like being at war, why does he refuse to negotiate and compromise on a peace settlement? Trump told Zelensky Feb. 28 in the Oval Office he should cut his losses, make a deal with Putin and start the process of rebuilding his country. Trump told Zelensky back in 2022 he should have negotiated with Putin to have him pull out his troops. Putin had troops in Donetsk and Luhansk in 2022 at the time to the invasion. After three-and-a-half years of war, Zelensky has lost Kherson and Zaporizhzia, both he had controlled of in 2022. Everyday that goes by, Zelensky loses more sovereign territory, continuing the carnage and destruction to Ukraine’s infrastructure. Every time Putin attacks, Zelensky expects the West to rescue him.
Zelensky convinced key members of the EU that have issues with Trump to reject Trump’s peace plans with Putin, refusing to surrender any sovereign territory. Well, if Zelensky and the EU refuse to cede territory to Putin, how do they expect to the end the war? EU officials led by French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and U.K. Prime Minister have no plan to end the war, instead back the idea of stealing frozen Russian assets held in Belgium, using them to finance the Kiev government and the war. Belgium Prime Minister Bart De Wever said taking Russian assets would have risky consequence, including escalating the war. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the EU would discuss all the pros-and-cons to stealing Russian assets to subsidize the Ukraine War, something Zelensky wants now.
Zelensky has options when it comes to settle the conflict with Russia but choose not to. “Every day, Russia takes people’s lives,” Zelensky said. “And only strength can make them stop. We’re heard resolute statements from Europe and America—and it’s high time to turn them all into reality , together with everyone who refuses to accept murder and terror as normal. Lip serice is not enough now. Strong action is needed,” Zelensky said, lambasting the EU and U.S. for not doing enough. Zelensky won’t stop until he pulls the EU and U.S. into direct fighting with the Kremlin, in effect starting WW III. He sees no problems involving the EU and U.S. in his war with the Kremlin. Trump has been reluctant to compromise U.S.-Russian relations but recently has made some contradictory statements about Zelensky getting back his sovereign territory by continuing the war.
Trump looks fed up with Putin and Zelensky, certainly the EU that has rejected his peace plan involving ceding land to Russia to settle the conflict. Zelensky decided to throw his support with the EU, not the United States. When Trump talks of Ukraine winning back its lost sovereign territory, he’s talking about the EU subsidizing Ukraine for the indefinite future. When Trump tells Zelensky that he could win his land back, he’s only halfway sincere, knowing that the EU has bought into the idea of subsidizing Ukraine.. Trump told Zelensky Feb. 28 that the U.S. is done giving Kiev a blank check, knowing that the war will never end. Trump now tells Zelensky he could win his land back eventually but at what cost? Clearly, Russia has the the military advantage, unwilling to stop the conflict unless Zelensky agrees to cede sovereign territory seized in over three-and-a-half years of war.
Zelensky continues to complain about Russian attacks on his civilian population and infrastructure but has been unwilling to goes to the peace table to end the conflict. What more can the EU or U.S. do for Ukraine short of going to war with the Kremlin? Zelensky knows that while the EU and U.S. want to help him fight the Kremlin, they’re not willing to get directly involved, certainly not the U.S. under Trump. It’s clear that when Macron, Merz and Starmer talkd atough with Putin about more economic sanctions, they’re not willing to get directly involved in the conflict. Zelensky has a choice to end the war but refuses to take the necessary steps to end the conflict. Trump would have led the war to peace but Zelensky doesn’t want to admit to his people that he’s lost the conflict. Zelensky and the EU have no peace plan, only a path to perpetual war.
