LOS ANGELES (OC).–Appearing on FoxNews “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo, 54-year-old Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the 79-year-old President Donald Trump was not dictating territorial concessions needed in a final peace deal. “The president has said that in terms of territories, these are things that Zelensky is going to have to decide on.  These are things that the Ukrainian side is going to have to agree to,” Rubio told Bartiromo.  So much disinformation comes from the fake news pitting Trump against Zelensky and the European Union, determined to let Ukraine negotiate the terms and condtions of any deal with Russia.  Trump has done everything possible to push for peace in Ukraine, saying the war should have never started.  Trump blames former President Joe Biden for making the worst foreign policy blunder in U.S. history, going to war with Russia.

Biden ended decades of diplomacy, détente, arms control and global cooperation with the Russian Federation, something every president since Harry Truman worked on to make the world a safer place in the nuclear age.  Biden decided to fund proxy war in Ukraine with the Kremlin, actually stating March 26, 2022 , as a matter of policy, that the aim of the U.S. mission in Ukraine was to degrade the Russian military to the point it could no longer wage war. If that’s not a declaration of war against the Kremlin, then what is?  Biden’s former Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin repeated Biden’s policy April 26, 2022 in Ramstein, Germany. So when it came to Trump’s return to office, he’s made every effort to restore normal diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation.  Trump realized at the Alaska summit that it’s more important to have healthy relations with Russia than impose ceasefire.

European Union officials have taken the exact opposite strategy, threatening Putin with more sanctions if he doesn’t agree to a 30-day ceasefire. Trump realized at the summit that a ceasefire doesn’t move the peace process closer, only more meetings with the warring parties.  Trump promised in short-order that he would get Putin and Zelensky together to work out terms for a final peace deal. Yet the Democrat-controlled fake news only looks to score political points against Trump making up things as they go. Rubio set the record straight that Trump wants Ukraine and Russian to work out the terms on any peace deal. EU officials were told by Zelensky that Trump was selling Ukraine down the river, giving preferential treatment to Russia in any peace talks. Trump, of course, has no dog in the fight, wants to stop the war to end the destruction and bloodshed.

European allies like French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer have taken a tough stand with Putin, threatening more economic sanctions unless he agrees to a temporary ceasefire. Trump realized at their summit that getting into the nitty-gritty of the negotiations was more important than playing around with a ceasefire agreement.  But Trump also realized that playing hard ball with Putin would only boomerang.  Putin does things the old fashioned way when it comes to diplomacy and deal-making. He wants his advanced negotiating teams to work out the details with him approving the terms-and-conditions.  Meeting face-to-face before the details have been negotiated doesn’t work for Putin. Trump realized that there’s no point in coercing Putin into something uncomfortable.

Trump plans to meeting with Zelensky, several EU heads of state and NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte.  EU leaders and Rutte have taken a tough stand with Putin thinking that he’s not taking the peace plans seriously.  Well, Putin has not shunned peace talks in Istanbul, whether they went anywhere or not.  So Trump learned something at the Alaska summit obscured by the call for sanctions by the Zelensky and the EU, only seeking to punish Putin unless he acquiesces to Zelensky and the EU.  With the EU taking Zelensky’s sidel, they’ve eliminated themselves as an objective peace broker. Only Trump has Putin’s trust that he’s has all parties’ best interests in mind.  Trump wants to help Putin end the U.S. and EU sanctions and return to the conomic world stage.  Under Trump’s plan, Putin would return to the mainstream global business community.
