LOS ANGELES.–Former President Joe Biden’s, 82, proxy war in Ukraine with the Kremlin has not been embraced by the European Union, fearing a future Russian incursion into Europe, something pure disinformation and propaganda made up by Biden and the bankrupt Kiev government. Europe has NATO as its defensive shield against an incursion into EU countries, nothing has changed for the European Continent. When it comes to Ukraine, 47-year-old President Volodymyr Zelensky pushed for NATO membership provoking Putin to think it was a Western attempt to encroach on Russian national security. Somehow the oblivious Europeans came late to the table with Biden’s reckless war with the Kremlin, believing the U.S. and Ukrainian claptrap. War with Russia was bad for Europe but, more importantly, bad for the United States, something U.S. voters told 60-year-old Vice President Kamala Harris.
Yet nearly three years into the war, with Ukraine sustaining thousands of casualties, destroying its infrastructure and losing some 25% of its sovereign territory, Brussels now thinks that they must be included in any peace talks. EU officials only went along with Biden’s madness out of loyalty to the United States, not that they wished to join the fight against the Kremlin. If you listen to EU officials now that Trump is in charge, you’d think they want to prosecute the war to placate Zelensky, because, as the vanquished party for three years of war, he wants to call the shots. Well, Brussels needs to stop meddling unless they’re prepared to continue the fight with the Kremlin without the United States. Ending the Ukraine War is Trump objective to restore normal diplomatic relations with the Kremlin, no longer on Biden’s glide path to WW III and nuclear war.
Zelensky said he would not accept any peace deal without Ukraine’s presence at peace talks, when he’s lost the war over the last three years. Zelensky and the EU hasn’t caught up with the reality that Biden no longer controls U.S. foreign policy. Trump’s foreign policy team plans to tell Zelensky this week at the Munich Security Conference that the U.S. is moving on to normalize relations with Moscow. Trump’s foreign policy officials rescind Biden’s proxy war with the Kremlin, something Brussels must finally come to grips with. All the fake news about how Trump’s actions serve the Kremlin are preposterous. Ending the war serves everyone in Europe. Brussels must understand that NATO, not the Ukraine War, defends European democracy, despite the fears swirling in places like Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania in Poland. No war with Russia in Ukraine is needed to assure the independence of for Soviet satellites worried about a Russian incursion.
All the fake news talks about how Ukraine and the EU must have a place at the table in any peace talks. Well, why does Trump need to consult with vanquished Ukraine that depends wholly on U.S. government largess to pay for Kiev’s government and the war? Trump has a right to end U.S. involvement in Biden’s proxy war. Brussels hasn’t come to grips with the new U.S. president and a new foreign policy. “I am sure that in Kiev, Brussels, Paris and London they are now reading Trump’s lengthy statements on his conversation with Putin with horror and cannot believe their eyes,” wrote senior Russian lawmaker Alexi Pushkov. Why would Brussels be anything but overjoyed that the war in Europe was ending? How could anyone in Brussels think that they would continue the Ukraine War at Zelensky’s request until Putin acquiesces to Zelensky’s unrealistic demands?
Russian state news agency RIA Novosti said in an opinion piece that “The U.S. finally hurt Zelensky for real,” adding that Trump found “common ground” with Putin. But Russian statements in newspapers have nothing to do with the reality of peace talks. Trump and Putin are on the same page on repairing damaged U.S.-Russian relations. Trump’s foreign policy makes clear that the U.S. relationship with Russia is more important than its relationship with Kiev. Brussels needs to accept that Biden and all his disinformation and propaganda no longer drive U.S. foreign policy. Nor does Zelensky’s daily rubbish about how the Ukraine War protects European democracy. Brussels knows that’s the job of NATO until told otherwise. Zelensky was rejected for NATO membership because he’s at war with the Kremlin, but, more importantly, Ukraine is not a democracy.
Ending the Ukraine War is about Trump returning the U.S. to normal diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation. Biden was the only U.S. president since WW II to terminate U.S.-Russian relations, end decades of diplomacy, détente and arms control, all to support Ukraine’s border dispute with the Russian Federation. Biden’s foreign policy meddled with Russian national security arming Ukraine to the teeth with eventual goal to drive Russian troops off Ukrainian soil. But with Ukraine’s long history as a former Soviet satellite, there’s more of a relationship to Russia than Zelensky is willing to admit. When it comes to Trump peace overtures to Putin, Brussels must understand it’s about the U.S. and Russia restoring normal diplomatic relations. If Brussels chooses war over peace, that’s certainly their prerogative to continue backing the Ukraine War.
