LOS ANGELES.–House Oversight and Judiciary Chairmen Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) were rebuffed by the Department of Justice [DOJ], asking for audiotape of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s two day interview of 81-year-old President Joe Biden. Hur’s Feb, 8 bombshell report said he would not prosecuted Biden for willfully retaining classified docs at at least three locations, including his Wilmington, Delaware residence. Hur said in his report Biden memory was so bad he couldn’t recall when he served as Vice President under former President Barack Obama. Hur also said Biden couldn’t recall the date of his son, Beau’s, death from brain cancer. White House, Democrats and the press made plenty of excuses, claiming that Hur used his Special Counsel report to engage in political sabotage. But did Hur do anything wrong talking about Biden’s failed memory?
Democrats and the press cried foul, saying how utterly inappropriate it was for Hur, a Special Counsel, to comment about the president’s memory, despite the fact Biden’s memory was crucial in deciding not to move ahead with a prosecution. Hur concluded that he couldn’t get a sympathetic jury to convict Biden because he as well-intentioned old man with a bad memory. Now Comer and Jordan want the audiotape to let the public hear directly with their own ears what Biden said in his deposition. White House officials, including Biden himself, contradict Hur, saying there’s nothing wrong with Biden’s memory. Rejecting Comer and Jordan’s request for Biden’s actual voice recording, DOJ officials think it would be used politically, without any probative value. Certainly Biden saying he didn’t recall when he was Vice President would raise eyebrows.
Comer and Jordan threatened to slap 72-year-old Atty. Gen. Merrick Garland with a contempt citation, knowing that it was a stretch. DOJ officials claim they responded in a timely way to Comer and Jordan’s subpoena, despite no releasing the actual audiotape. Comer and Jordan complained to Garland in March that the transcripts sent were too heavily redacted to be of much value. Hur’s report speaks for itself about the legal reasoning that went into his decision to not prosecute Biden for willful retention of classified documents. When it comes to the 2024 election, the public has already made up its mind about Biden’s fitness, at age 82, to serve four more years in office. Democrats, Republicans and independents all agree that Biden is too old to serve a second term. When you look at Biden’s record in his first term, his legacy of runaway inflation and foreign policy failures speak for itself.
DOJ officials see no justification for Comer and Jordan pressing the issue on releasing Hur’s actual audiotape interview of Biden’s two days of testimony. “We are therefore concerned that the Committees are disappointed not because you ddn’t receive information, but because you did,” the letter said. “We urge the Committees to avoid conflict rather than seek it,” said the DOJ letter. No question an audiotape of Biden’ feeble voice saying he couldn’t recall when he served as president would speak volumes about his fitness to serve four more years in office. Biden has been thoroughly embarrassed with Biden’s team of spin doctors going after Trump to prove he’s equally unfit to serve four more years. Hur’s report gave the kind of unvarnished testimony that didn’t pull any punches about Biden’s age-related cognitive decline, something that renders him unfit for office.
Most voters don’t need to hear anything more than listening to Biden’s scripted sound bites, like his speech last week in Baltimore Harbor. Biden read a teleprompter telling an audience that he’ll make sure the government pays the $1 trillion price tag of rebuilding the Francis Key Scott Bridge, destroyed by a freighter March 20. Biden has no problem demanding $60 billion to pay for Ukraine’s salaries-and-pensions yet admits in his speech it’s up to Congress to pay the $1 trillion bridge repair. Every time Biden opens his mouth, the public is treated to his hesitant, incoherent speech. Comer and Jordan don’t need an audiotape to convince the public that Biden isn’t fit for another term. Public has heard enough to conclude that Biden isn’t fit for another term in office. Biden told the press in response to Hur’s report, “My memory is just fine.”
Jordan and Comer would be better off spending their energy on exposing the Biden family’s overseas business transactions that’s netted his family millions of dollars. Whether or not they can find Biden’s exact bank account into which the cash was deposited is anyone’s guess. “If you fail to do so, the Committees will consider taking futher action such as the invocation of contempt of Congress proceedings,” Jordan and Comer wrote to the DOJ. Getting the audiotape would be a huge embarrassment to Democrats, knowing it would shock the public about Biden’s failed memory. Voters would still have to hold their noses on Election Day but must pick the lesser of two evils. Voters have their problems with Trump but know that he kept the country out of foreign wars with the economy growing without inflation. Most voters would take that knowing Biden’s track record.
