NBC “Meet the Press” maiden host Kristen Welker said in an interview with President Donald Trump today that he bathes in the praise from Russian President Vladimir Putin. Democrats and the press have so demonized Putin it’s only natural that 80-year-old President Joe Biden has the U.S. in a proxy war with the Russian Federation. What happened to the generations or diplomacy, détente and arms control under every American President since Harry Truman at the end of WW II? Biden doesn’t consider what he’s done to the fervent, hard-fought effort by generations of American presidents for nuclear nonproliferation or arms control. After the Feb. 24, 2022, Biden decided to boycott Russian oil, slap Russia with more economic sanctions and fund a proxy war against the Kremlin. What was Biden thinking trashing decades of U.S. diplomatic relations with Moscow?
Whatever disagreements in Ukraine, Biden should have engaged the U.N. to try to resolve the conflict, not trash U.S.-Russian relations. Funding a proxy war in Ukraine was the worst possible outcome short of starting WW III. Biden had many options buts limited by his own deficiencies decided war was the best way to settle differences between Ukraine and Russia. So, when Welker asks Trump about Putin’s “praise,” she’s really repeating old, incendiary Democrat talking points about Trump, that he likes dictators around the globe. “We surely hear that Mr. Trump says he will resolve all burning issues within several days, including the Ukrainian crisis. We cannot help but feel happy about it,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said. “What do you make of that? Do you welcome this support?” Kristen Welker asked Trump, making another disparaging charge against the former president.
What is Welker trying to do other than discredit Trump for the purpose of praising Biden’s belligerent attitude toward Russia. Where does Welker think the Ukraine War is going? To get the U.S. and Europe embroiled in WW III, possibly nuclear war? Welker insinuates that Biden deserves all the praise for going to war against the Russian Federation. When Russian Foreign Minister Sergy Lavrov said today that the U.S. is at war with Russia, the U.S. press acts horrified. But that’s exactly what the U.S. has done, gone to war against the Kremlin to defend Ukraine. What national security significance does Ukraine have to the United States? Biden and Ukraine’s 45-year-old President Volodymyr Zelensky say that Ukraine defends democracy on the European Continent. What rubbish is that? How can bankrupt, war-ravaged Ukraine defend Europe against anything?
All of Welker’s questions were designed to trip Trump up, show that he’s looking for praise from Putin. “Well, I like that he said that: Because that means what I’m saying is right,” Trump told Welker. NBC’s anti-Trump bias interprets Trump’s statement as a need for Putin’s praise rather than noting Putin shows receptivity to ending the war. But Welker must find the most malicious interpretation to discredit Trump and praise Biden. What’s NBC News trying to do, start WW III. Why should a U.S. news network back Biden’s proxy war against the Russian Federation? Trump told Welker “there was no one tougher than me on Russia,” refuting the idea that he pandered to Putin and other dictators. Trump maintained healthy relations with Russia, China and North Korea, keeping the U.S. out of foreign wars. Biden started a proxy war with the Kremlin, the worst mistake in U.S. history.
Trying to paint Trump in her interview with Putin as pandering to dictators, Welker does her network and country a disservice. Trump tried to set Welker straight letting her know the difference between then and now. “I got along with Putin. Let me tell you. I got along with him really well. And that’s a good thing, not a bad thing,” Trump told Welker. “He’s got 1,700 nuclear missiles. And so do we. But, look, that a good thing. Getting along is OK. But I got along through strength,” Trump said, refuting the idea that the country is better off today. Biden started a reckless proxy war against the Kremlin with the aim or degrading the Russian military to help Ukraine’s bargaining position in any future peace talks. Zelensky seems happy to collect the untold billions from the U.S. Treasury, continuing the fight no matter what it does to Ukraine’s people and dilapidated infrastructure.
Welker tried her best to defend Biden and discredit Trump but raised more questions than she answered in her ”Meet the Press” interview. Putin’s praise of Trump panders to Biden’s left wing media horde that for whatever reason backs the war in Ukraine. Biden couldn’t get a global coalition against Putin’s war in Ukraine. China, India, South Africa, Brazil an other countries want to see the war end but take no sides. Biden says the world is behind the U.S. on Ukraine with the exception of at least three billion people from China and India. Trump told Welker he liked Putin’s praise because it shows him if he gets back to the White House, he could end the war quickly. Zelensky wants to keep the billions in U.S. tax dollars to continue his war against the Kremlin. Trump reminds Zelensky that as long as the U.S. foots the bills it will call the shots in Ukraine, including any peace settlement.
