Visiting 69-year-old Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin, 72-year-old U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres found out how limited the U.N.’s power, authority or influence on the world stage. Hoping to push for ceasefire talks in Istanbul, Guterres didn’t get too far with 72-year-old Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov who told Guterres that there’s no easy way as long as the United States continues to arm Ukraine. “Very frank discussion,” Guterres said about his meeting with Putin. “Extremely interested in finding ways in order to create the conditions for effect dialogue, create the conditions for a ceasefire as soon as possible,” Guterres said. Guterres knows that things have changed since the war started Feb. 24 with the United States funding and arming the Ukraine War. As long as the U.S. continues to battle the Kremlin, peace is not in the cards.
Guterres said it’s “clear that there are two different positions on what is happening in Ukraine,” realizing that as long as the war involves the U.S. arming-and-funding the war, it’s difficult to look to the peace table. Guterres said he was “concerned about the repeated reports of violations of international humanitarian and human rights law and possible war crimes,” supporting an “independent investigation for effective accountability.” Guterres wasn’t prepared to single out the U.S. for funding-and-arming the Ukraine War. Only yesterday, 68-year-old Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the goal of the U.S. campaign is to prevent the Kremlin from waging war against its neighbors. Austin said the U.S. wants to degrade the Russian military to the point it can no longer wage war against anyone. Austin confirmed that the U.S. mission is not about saving Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Guterres tried to convince Putin and Lavrov to let the U.N. take the lead in establishing humanitarian corridors to safely evacuate civilians caught in the crossfire. “To that end, I have proposed the establishment of a Humanitarian Contact Group, bringing together the Russian Federation, Ukraine and the United Nations, to look for opportunities for the opening of safe corridors, with local cessations of hostilities, and to guarantee that they are actually effective,” Guterres told reporters after meeting with Lavrov and Putin. Guterres doesn’t have any control over the U.S. involvement in the Ukraine War, preventing Russia from considering any ceasefire talks. Austin made clear that the U.S. government is currently at war with the Russian Federation. Putin understands that with the best of intentions, Guterres can’t stop the U.S. from supplying cash-and-lethal-weapons to Ukraine.
Ukraine reacted harshly to Guterres trying to broker an impossible ceasefire deal, wanting no pressure from the U.N. to end the conflict. “The war is in Ukraine, there are no bodies in the streets of Moscow. It would be logical to go first to Ukraine, to see the people there, the consequences of the occupation,” said Zelensky. Zelensky said it was “simply wrong” for Guterres to go to Moscow, showing Zelensky’s utter arrogance. As a leader of the U.N., Gueterres is empowered to do everything possible to bring about world peace. Zelensky’s out-of-line lambasting the Secretary-General for doing anything possible to promote world peace. Since Biden and Zelensky show no interest in the peace table, Putin was at least worth a try. Guterres found out the hard way that the United States has made the war far more complicated by arming, funding and running the war from the White House.
Zelensky’s reaction to Guterres’ peace mission tells the whole story about the joint Ukraine-U.S. mission to degrade and eventually topple Putin’s government. When Austin said yesterday the aim of the U.S. mission in Ukraine was to prevent the Russian military from waging war, that’s the equivalent to saying the U.S. is at war with the Kremlin. Zelensky’s Deputy Igor Zhovkva said Sunday on CBS “Meet the Press” that Guterres was “not really” authorized to speak for the Ukrainian government. Ukraine wants no part in peace talks because they’re funded to fight the U.S. proxy war with the Russian Federation. Guterres plans to visit Kiev to see whether there’s any flexibility in moving the conflict to the peace table. With Zelensky’s remarks, it’s clear that Ukraine doesn’t want the U.N. to negotiate with the Russian Federation. Zelensky wants to continue the status quo.
Recent reactions from Zelensky expose that Ukraine has no intention of working toward a ceasefire agreement or anything else. Paid by the U.S. to prosecute a proxy war against the Kremlin, Ukraine seeks nothing short of beating the Russian military. If you look at Ukraine, it’s been reduced to rubble, despite the military’s heroic resistance against Russia forces. Putin warned the U.K yesterday if it continued to meddle in the Ukraine conflict the Russian Federation would take proportional steps against No. 10 Downing Street. What Putin meant is anyone’s guess. If he strikes the U.K. for whatever reason that would trigger NATO’s Article 5, requiring a response by the entire Trans-Atlantic Alliance. Guterres went to the Kremlin to try to pull the world back from the brink, dangerously close to WW III. Yet to Biden and Zelensky they want to continue their proxy war against he Kremlin.
