Freshly leaked information about a Zoom call between 45-year-old National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and 36-year-old Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman shows for all of see why the White House failed in U.S. foreign policy. Last September, Sullivan had a get-to-know-you Zoom meeting with Bin Salman, the de facto leader of Saudi Arabia, where Sullivan brought up the Oct. 2, 2018 murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi. Wall Street journal reported that Bin Salman wound up shouting at Sullivan, not the way to advance U.S.-Saudi relations. When the Ukraine War started Feb. 24, petroleum and pump prices went through the roof. Biden asked Bin Salman to ramp up Saudi oil production to make up for the boycott on Russian oil. Bin Salmanj reportedly didn’t return Biden’s calls, attesting to the damage done to Saudi relations by Sullivan.
According to an unnamed WSJ source, Bin Salman “ended up shouting at Mr. Sullivan after he raised the 2018 killing of Saudi journalist Khashoggi.” “The prince told Mr. Sullivan he never wanted to discuss the matter against,” said people familiar with the Zoom call. So, let’s get straight the damage Sullivan and his colleague 59-year-old Secretary of State Antony Blinken have done to U.S. foreign policy. At a get-to-know you summit March 18, 2021, Blinken and Sullivan insulted a high-level Chinese delegation as a summit in Anchorage, Alaska. Blinken and Sullivan accused Beijing of committing genocide against Muslim Uyghurs in Xinjiang,.Western China. Senior Chinese Diplomat Yang Jieichi told Blinken and Sullivan that no country that commits “systemic racism” on its Black population has a right to criticize other countries for alleged human rights abuses.
Before the Anchorage summit, 79-year-old President Joe Biden called 69-year-old Russian President Vladimir Putin as “soulless killer.” Whether anyone agrees with that or not, it’s not the way to win friends and influence people. Blinken and Sullivan gat their vitriolic, arrogant tone from Biden. If it’s OK for Biden to call Putin a “war criminal” and “murderous thug” then it’s OK for his underlings to do the same thing. Accusing Beijing at a summit of genocide goes over the top, not because it’s true but precisely because it isn’t true. China has no problem with Muslim Uighurs, or anyone else, as long as they’re not rioting or creating civil disturbance. When the U.S. Black population riots in American cities, as they did after the murder of George Floyd, the Federal government did little or nothing. Black Americans are allowed to loot, commit arson and anarchy to express their outrage.
Ordinary citizens watched Black riots go on for months in 2020, largely backed by the Democrat Party to paint Trump as a racist and white supremacist. But when it comes to U.S. diplomats insulting world leaders, no less nuclear-armed ones, it damages U.S. national security. With oil and gas shortages rampant in the U.S., prices skyrocketed without any Plan B in place. Sullivan asked Bin Salman to help make up the difference due to the loss of Russian oil. Crown Prince Bin Salman told Sullivan the U.S. could forget about its request to boost oil production. Where are the consequences to Blinken and Sullivan for damaging U.S.-China, U.S.-Russian and U.S.-Saudi relations? All three countries for different reasons are essential to U.S. national security. Whether the CIA thinks Bin Salman was responsible for Khashoggi’s death, why did Sullivan rub it in Bin Salman’s face?
Since Biden took office Jan. 20, 2021, he proceeded to trash U.S.-Russia and U.S.-Chinese relations, claiming he was calling out both countries on human rights. Can you imagine Democrats did nothing but criticize Trump for getting along with both superpower, claiming he was pandering to both countries. So when Biden trashed decades old relations needed to maintain world order, the press shrugs, says big deal. Well the big deal now is that a war with Ukraine rages on the European Continent, largely because of the White House poor communication. If having bad relations with adversaries is the new normal, what can the U.S. expect in the future? As of right now, the world is on the verge of WW III. One mistake, one miscalculation, one error could set Europe ablaze in 2022. Much of the U.S. failure stems from Biden’s inability to manage his White House duties.
Watching U.S.-Russia, U.S.-Chinese and U.S.-Saudi relations deteriorate is a dangerous trend in U.S. foreign relations. Whether the communist world agreed with the West or not, successive generations of president since WW II tried to get along with adversaries, especially espousing the destruction of the West. Every president since Harry Trump has made a concerted effort to get along with U.S. enemies, no matter what the differences. Biden has done everything to cut off diplomatic relations, currently funding the Ukraine War at the expense of U.S.-Russian relations. In the big picture, Russia is far more important to U.S. national security than Ukraine. Both China and Russia are vital to U.S. national security and world stability, something that Biden can no longer count on. Sullivan’s deliberate insult of Bin Salman tells the story of a White House running amok.
