President Joe Biden said he would not walk back comments made in Warsaw March 25 saying the Russian President Vladimir Putin “cannot remain in power,” despite the White House retracting his statements, saying there’s been no change in White House policy. Biden sees nothing wrong with essentially saying the U.S. policy is to see Putin removed from power, one way or another. “I’m not walking anything back,” Biden said Monday from the White House. Biden said he was expressing his “moral outrage” over Putin’s war in Ukraine, not realizing that he’s making peace efforts more difficult for ceasefire negotiators in Isstanbul trying to find a way to end the conflict. If Putin thinks it’s the U.S. policy as stated by Biden to see him removed from power that makes ceasefire talks more complicated. Putin already suspects that Ukraine fights as proxy war for the U.S. to see him removed from power.
Biden thinks it’s OK to throw the international community for a loop, expressing his personal feelings at a speech covered by the global press in Warsaw. “The fact of the matter is I was expressing the moral outrage I felt toward the way Putin is dealing and the actions of this man, which is just brutality,” Biden said. No one doubts Biden’s feelings but they have no place in dealing with the Ukraine War. Biden’s not supposed to be the one running the war from the White House. It’s clear from the $14 billion and unlimited arms Zelensky receives from the U.S that Biden’s running the war, leaving official public remarks even more significant. Biden embarrassed himself with his reckless remarks in Warsaw, not realizing that he’s made the situation worse in Ukraine. Biden doesn’t like getting hounded by the press, often getting surly with reporters just asking simple questions.
Complicating the picture of the Ukraine War is the fact that Putin asked Biden to work on new security arrangements for months leading up to the Feb. 24 invasion. Biden told Putin that his requests for new security arrangement with Ukraine were all “non-starters,” meaning the White House didn’t take them seriously. Biden won’t admit that the Ukraine War might have been prevented had the White House not continued to supply Ukraine with lethal weapons and addressed Putin’s simple request that Ukraine not be granted NATO membership. Ukraine asked for NATO membership for the last eight years but was denied because of the ongoing war with the Russian Federation. NATO wanted no part of fighting Ukraine’s battles. Zelensky wanted NATO to liberate Crimea from Russian control even if it started WW III on the European Continent and possibly a nuclear war.
Biden’s embarrassment over his reckless remarks relates to the fact that he’s not in the right state of mind to be commander-in-chief. Questions about his cognitive functioning has been raised for some time, with most Americans believing that he’s not playing with a full deck at age 79. But whatever the reasons for Biden going off script he raised a can of worms for U.S. policy dealing with the Ukraine War. Biden most certainly eliminated the U..S. as neutral peace broker, knowing Biden’s true feelings are to get rid of Putin. “I want to make clear, I wasn’t then nor am I now articulating a policy change,” Biden said. “I was expressing more outrage that I feel. I make no apologies for it.” Biden’s remarks weren’t taken all that seriously in Kiev, where Zelensky wants more fighter jets and air-defense systems, not heated rhetoric. Biden’s been telling Ukraine for months he “has their back.”
Zelensky said yesterday the U.S. and NATO lack the courage to help Ukraine fight the battle with the Russian Federation. He doesn’t accept the concern that it could start WW III on the European Continent, demanding that the West does more to protect Ukraine. Biden calls the Ukraine War “unprovoked and unjustified,” because he doesn’t want to accept responsibility for ignoring Putin’s requests for new security arrangements for months. While it’s true that Putin built up over 100,000 troops near the Ukraine border, it’s also true he was trying to send Biden a message to negotiate new security arrangements or face a possible invasion. Biden’s harsh rhetoric toward Putin attempts to put all the blame for the invasion on Putin. While there’s no excuse for war, Putin got fed up with Biden blowing him off on his security concerns. Zelensky didn’t help matters taking unlimited amounts of U.S. weapons.
When it comes to speaking to the global press, Biden can’t say he was expressing his “moral outrage,” calling for a head of state to be removed from power. There’s no excuse when it comes to deviating off script thinking he saying something that everyone’s feeling. “What complicates the situation at the moment is the escalatory efforts of Putin to continue to engage in carnage,” Biden said, not realizing that his reckless remarks escalate Putin’s determination to protect Russian national security. “My God, what is this man doing?” Biden said, referring to Putin continuing the fight. But no one has told the White House or Kiev to reject Putin’s ceasefire proposals. That’s a decision made by Biden and Zelensky. Putin can’t be blamed for Biden and Zelensky rejecting his ceasefire conditions because there’s nothing put out by Biden and Zelensky to end the war.
