South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, 69, dared to tell the truth about the Ukraine War, blaming NATO for encroaching for years on the Russian Federation. “The war could have been avoided if NATO had heeded the warnings from amongst its own leaders and officials over the years that its eastward expansion would lead to greater not less instability in the region,” Rampaphosa said in response to a question posed by the South African parliament. Why has no other Western country or news outlet admitted that Russian President Vladimir Putin, 69, started the Ukraine war Feb. 24 to protest primarily the U.S. intrusion into Russian national security. South African “cannot condone the use of force and violation of international law,” Ramaphosa side, clarifying that he didn’t back Putin’s actions. Ramaphosa stated the obvious about what led up to the war.
Ramaphosa’s remarks will be ignored or dismissed by he Western press, busy discrediting Putin and the Kremlin. Ramaphosa doesn’t begin to tell the whole story behind gthe Ukraine War where Putin wanted to send a loud message to President Joe Biden, 79, to stop messing with the Russian Federation. Putin warned Biden Dec. 24 that if the U.S. would not come to the table and negotiate a new secRaurity arrangement in Ukraine and Eastern Europe he would be forced to take “military-technical measures” to what he calls “de-Nazify” Ukraine, for dangerous weapons supplied to Ukraine’s PresidentVolodymyr Zelensky for he purpose of eventually attacking the Russian Federation. Zelnesky spent the last three years as president provoking Putin by demanding NATO membership. Putin told Zelensky that NATO membership is a red line for the Kremlin.
Ramaphosa’s remarks underscore Biden’s daily remarks that the Ukraine War was “unprovoked and unjustified,” giving the Russian perspective. No one U.S. or EU official, it its denunciations of Putin is willing to admit that Biden spent at least three months infuriating Putin by ignoring his requests to negotiate new security arrangements. But by far Putin said the loudest statement to the White House that the Kremlin wouldn’t tolerate Biden exploiting Ukraine as a client or puppet sate Once Biden put NATO adviser and supplied lethal weapons for Ukraine, Putin decided there was no end to the military buildup until he went into Ukraine to demilitarized the country. Zelensky thought he could get away with arming Ukraine to the teeth without any consequnces. Biden has been warning for months that the Russian troop buildupon the border hinted at a future invasion.
Putin put a 100,000-plus size force near the Ukraine border to send a loud message to Biden that he must demilitarize the region, not continue to arm Ukraine. Rampahosa, who heads the African National Congress, former President Nelson Madela’s party that ended the White Afrikaner South African government, said he was not taking sides in the conflict. Ramaphosa said he was under pressure from Western governments to condemn Putin’s invasion. “There are those insisting that we should take an adversarial stance against Russia, The approach we are going to take [instead] is . . . that there should be dialogue,” Rampaphosa said. “Screaming and shouting is not going to bring an end to this conflict,” showing the kind of neutrality needed to eventually broker and end to the conflict. All Western leaders and the press only condemn Putin, repeating Biden’s talking points the war was “unprovoked and unjustified.”
Western leaders would be wise to take a hint from Ramaphosa who has no dog in the fight. Ramaphosa hopes to leave South African a constructive role in mediating the crisis. Biden admitted today that the U.S. will not play a role in ending the crisis. “Some are even approaching us on a role that we can play [mediating],” Rampaphosa said. With all the recriminations coming from the U.S. and Ukraine, it’s a wonder than any ceasefire talks have even gone one. Biden has led a global PR campaign to discredit Putin and the Russian Federation, making it impossible for the U.S. to play any constructive role in ending the conflict. Truth be told, Biden pressed for a war with the Russian Federation, rejecting all of Putin’s offers to negotiate new Ukraine and Eastern Europe security measures. Biden runs the Ukraine War out of the White House.
Biden and Zelensky have not taken the opportunity to end the Ukraine War. Biden wants to keep Ukraine as a client state on the Russian border, something wholly unacceptable to Putin. “We never want to pretend that we have great influence that other countries have but we are being approached [To] condemn one [side] . . . forecloses the role we could play,” said Ramaphosa, leaving the door open for playing a constructive role in ending the conflict. Ramaphosa recognized there are two sides to every conflict, even to this one. Biden called Putin as “war criminal” yesterday, showing that he can’t play any role in ending the conflict. Ramaphosa also calls the war unacceptable but recognizes to bring it to the end there must be mediators not willing to take sides for the good of ending the conflict. Calling Putin a ‘war criminal” doesn’t help end the conflict.
