Saying no one, including 75-year-oldj President Donald Trump, was immune to subpoena in the House Select Committee Jan. 6 investigation, 73-year-pld Bennie Thomson (D-Miss.) said his committee will follow the facts wherever they go. When the House Impeachment committee with nine managers led by Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) failed to convince the U.S. Senate to hold Trump accountable for the Jan. 6 riot-and-mob scente Feb. 13, Democrats lost their case trying to link Trump to planning the Jan. 6 riots. Democrats presented all their best evidence but had nothing linking Trump with planning the Jan. 6 riot that breached the Capitol, resulting in desecration to the U.S. Capitol. Raskin pleaded with the U.S. Senate to convict Trump of orchestrating the riot-and-mob scene Democrats referred to as “incitement of insurrection,” something so farfetched it was bound to fail.
Democrats and their friends in the media refer to the Jan. 6 riot as an insurrection, suggesting that the rabble-rousers intended to overthrow the U.S. government. No one other than the most partisan Democrats or their backers in the press believes the Jan. 6 riot attempted to overthrow the U.S. government. But that’s exactly what House managers tried to sell to the U.S. Senate. Now the Jan. 6 House Select Committee wants to link Trump and backers, like former Trump strategist Steve Bannon, to planning the attack on the U.S. Capitol. House managers insisted Trump’s Jan. 6 speech on the Ellipse sparked the rioting, knowing the riots were planned for months. Raskin pleaded with the U.S. Senate, insisting Trump’s Jan. 6 speech prompted the riots. Yet the FBI admitted that its field office in Norfolk, Virginia had plenty of advance warning before the Jan. 6 riot.
House managers argued vociferously that Trump sparked the riot because of his Jan. 6 fiery speech on the Ellipse in D.C. Now things have changed with the House Select Committee trying to build their case against Trump and his associates for the second time, a kind of Double Jeopardy, expressly forbidden in the U.S. Constitution. “Nobody’s off-limits,” Rep. Bennie Thomson (D-Miss.) said. Asked by host Margaret Brennan on CBS’ “Face the Nation” if the riots were “premeditated,” Thomson said he had no doubt. “How premeditated was the attack,” asked Brennan. “Well, there’s no question,” Thomson replied. “Clearly, the direction of the committee to look at that premeditation, to make sure that we identify it, but the worst kept secret in America is that Donald Trump invited individuals to come to Washington, Jan. 6,” Thomson said, contradicting the House impeachment manager case.
House impeachment managers insisted to the U.S. Senate that Trump’s speech on the Ellipse Jan. 6 prompted the spontaneous riot that resulted in breaching the Capitol. Now Thomson wants to force another square peg into a round hole. Thomson’s Select Committee is just another witch-hunt to keep Trump in the news because of Biden’s tanking approval ratings. Thomson is another pawn in the Democrat National Committee’s [DNC] strategy to keep Trump in the headlines before next year’s Midterm Elections. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) created the Select Committee to keep Trump in the news. Thomson has moved the goal posts to find some bogus way to link Trump or his associated to the violent protesters that defaced the Capitol Jan. 6. Thomson said their was “premeditation,” but only as it suits Democrats and the media to make Trump look guilty.
House Democrats’ Select Committee don’t seek the truth, they want to redo the impeachment trial, putting Trump in double-jeopardy. Thomson needs to admit that the Jan. 6 riot was not an insurrection but a small group rabble-rousers who attended Trump’s speech at the Ellipse but who planned for months to make trouble at the Capitol. When you consider that up to one million attended Trump’s speech but only a few hundred breached the Capitol and defaced government property. Yet if you listen to Democrats on the Select Committee, they’re attempting to show that Trump and his associates orchestrated the Jan. 6 Capitol break-in. Forget about the fact that Steve Bannon was fired by Trump Aug. 18, 2017. If you listen to the fake news, Bannon never left Trump’s side during his presidency. Thomson agreed with Brennan that the Jan. 6 Capitol riots were “premeditated.”
House’s Select Committee isn’t interested in what happened on Jan. 6, they want to try Trump in absentia for the second time on the same charges. House Democrats insisted Trump whipped a Jan. 6 crowd into a frenzy before they broke into the Capitol. No one other than the most partisan Democrats or their media friends believe that the Jan. 6 rabble-rousers tried to topple the U.S. government. But Pelosi’s extreme hate toward Trump led her to craft an unrealistic impeachment article, “incitement of insurrection,” that failed in the U.S. Senate Feb. 13. Now the Select Committee wants to keep Trump in the headlines to divert attention away from Biden’s abysmal handling of domestic and foreign policy. Thomson presides over another Democrat and media witch hunt, not getting to the truth, only using the committee to give the New York Times, Washington Post and the broadcast media more fake news.
