Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, 44, said that the time has passed to get herd immunity in the United States from Covid-19 vaccines. Murthy, who served as former President Barack Obama’s and now President Joe Biden’s Surgeon General, said certain parts of the country deal with epidemics of unvaccinated people. Murthy said Covid-19 isn’t likely to go away because the Biden administration can’t, for whatever reason, convince enough Americans to get vaccinated. While shots are readily available at national chain pharmacies around the country, vaccine resistance continues to discourage people for submitting to the vaccines. “It is really important that we convey that success does not equal no cases,” Murthy said. “Success looks like very few people in the hospital and very few dying.” Since the Delta variant became dominant in the U.S., hospital and ICU beds have been filling up around the country.

Murthy would like to see more U.S. citizens and illegal aliens vaccinated in the United States. Covid-19 vaccines have been shown to reduce the severity of symptoms from Covid-19 infections, keeping people out of the hospital. Murthy admitted that many hospitals around the country report a shortage of ICU beds, especially for unvaccinated patients developing sudden acute respiratory symptoms. Vaccinated patients, especially those receiving the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines, experience less severe symptoms, sometimes, when infected, have no symptoms at all. Only unvaccinated patients ravaged by the Delta variant wind up clogging up the hospital Emergency Rooms and ICU beds. Murthy sees a tale of two cities in the Untied States, one with vaccinations, the other without. With vaccines widely available, there’s just no excuse for anyone in the U.S. without vaccines.

Watching a turf war with the White House, Centers for Disease Control [CDC] and Food and Drug Administration [FDA] battle over the third booster shots, pit Dr. Anthony Fauci, Chief of Allergy and Infections Disease at the National Institute’s of Health [NIH] with the White House. Current Covid-19 case numbers have brought out the knives. Biden’s approval ratings have dropped 10% to 43% over the last two weeks, largely over the Afghan exit strategy and increase in Delta variant Covid cases. Murthy hoped that getting more citizens fully vaccinated would have helped but fully vaccinated people have become susceptible to the Delta variant. Murthy backs giving Americans the third shot and more immunity. Fauci, on the other hand, has taken a more cautious approach, saying the FDA should finish its research before the White House and CDC recommend a third shot.

Some anti-vaxxers question why the Covid-19 vaccines don’t work like the polio vaccine to afford permanent immunity to its recipients. Virologists point out that new strains of the vaccine are constantly changing, requiring new vaccines to deal with new contagious variants. Murthy thinks it’s a difficult time of the pandemic because government officials can’t convince people to curtain travel or social plans. “This is obviously a very difficult part of the pandemic,” Murthy said, meaning that most citizens don’t want more lockdowns, now becoming vaccine skeptics. With research showing that neutralizing antibodies wear off from nRNA and other vaccines, it’s looking more and more like Covid-19 vaccines will wind up like seasonal flu shots. Israel has already started a fourth round of vaccines, thinking that more vaccines will end up creating herd immunity, destroying the virus.

Murthy sees two different world in the United States, one with high vaccines rates and the other without them. “This is the dichotomy developing,” Murthy said. “It’s almost like living in two different Americas,” referring to the vaccine areas and places with low vaccine rates. Question now is not whether a third vaccine will be approved but when, with the White House pushing for Sept. 20. Fauci said he would defer the timing to the FDA, not push, as Biden wants, third shots to start Sept. 20. Murthy thinks Americans should remember that vaccines prevent serious Covind-19 infections from causing hospitalizations. Murthy thinks that every American that wishes to stay out of the hospital should take a vaccine at the earliest possible time. He has no problem with third or fourth vaccines as long as they’re approved by the FDA as safe-and-effective, something that hasn’t happened yet.

Biden ran into a brick wall with Covid vaccines not because they’re not accessible but because guidance from the White House, CDA and FDA often conflict. Fauci warned that hospitals around the country are “perilously close” to filling up with Covid-19 cases. Fauci urges all Americans to get vaccinated at the earliest possible time. When it comes to the Delta variant, Fauci urges everyone to get vaccinated. “We have vaccines that are safe and effective in protecting people who are fully vaccinated for severe illness and death,” said the Austin Texas Public Health Agency. “Each of us has the responsibility to keep our communities safe,” encouraging the unvaccinated to get with the program and get the jab. What the White House, Fauci, CDC and FDA can’t say is whether or not Covid vaccines will be like the seasonal shots requiring a new booster about every eight months.
