Testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sept. 30, 59-year-old former FBI Director James Comey repeated the exact same testimony he gave in the same committee Dee. 17, 2018, saying he doesn’t recall any of the specifics related to applications for warrants in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act [FISA] Court to wiretap former Trump foreign policy aid Carter Page. Atty. Gen. Bill Bar and U.S. Atty. John Durham (R-Conn.) got former Justice Department Atty. Kevin Clinesmith to plead guilty for tampering, altering a memo to the FISA Court, omitting that Page was a CIA operative. Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham, 65, ing couldn’t get Comey to recall anything yesterday, pulling the same legal strategy he did back in 2018. Comey’s been told not to say anything other than he can’t recall anything about the Crossfire Hurricane counterintelligence investigation.
Comey insults the intelligence of anyone on the Judiciary Committee except Democrats that would do anything to stop Graham from investigating the origin of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation into the 2016 Trump campaign. Democrats were all in, especially House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) who, to this day, insists that Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 presidential election. Since getting fired May 9, 2017, Comey has had amnesia of any role he played in Crossfire Hurricane, looking into Trump’s alleged role in Russian collusion. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) 87, ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, insisted that Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz cleared the FBI of any wrongdoing in the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. Horowitz actually found 17 errors in the FBI’s FISA applications.
Feinstein wants to defend Comey, like she did July 10, 2018 with Christine Blasey Ford, when she accused 55-year-old Associate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault while in high school. Feinstein was all in backing Blasey Ford’s false memories, conveniently concocted to sink Kaanaugh’s confirmation. Graham has practically stood on his head trying to figure out Comey’s investigation into the GOP’s 2016 nominee. Comey has no recollection when it comes to the Steele Dossier or the underlying Russian sub-source that discredited the documents. Comey acts like he wasn’t there or wasn’t directing Crossfire Hurricane, essentially accusing the Trump campaign of illegal coordination with the Kremlin to win the 2016 election. Former Special Counsel Robert Mueller cleared Trump and his campaign of Russian collusion March 23, 2019.
Graham grew more frustrated with Comey who said he had no recollection of anything exculpatory that would have led him to stop his investigation into Trump’s campaign. “Was this an important case for the FBI?” Graham asked Comey. Comey told Graham the Crossfire Hurricane investigation was important but not the Page FISA application was “far less” important, making zero sense. Comey’s decision to seek FISA court warrants stemmed from his belief that Trump colluded with the Kremlin. Comey, after all, was given the Steele Dossier, bought-and-paid-for by former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and the Democrat National Committee [DNC] by the late Sen. John McCain (R-Az.) in July 2016. Before that, there was no Crossfire Hurricane investigation into the Trump campaign. Comey’s defense involves failure to recall and saying nothing under oath.
Comey’s been advised by his own counsel that he should say he doesn’t recall anything exculpatory about the Steele Dossier, but, more importantly, pretend he didn’t use the Steele Dossier as primary “probable cause” to investigate the Trump campaign. Comey had no problem setting up 60-year-old former National Security Adviser Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn at the White House Jan 24, 2017, only four days after Trump’s inauguration. But when in came to Crossfire Hurricane, Comey can’t recall any to the relevant facts. “Not only is it inadequate, it is criminally inadequate,” Graham said after Comey said he was unaware that there was anything exculpatory about the Steele Dossier. Comey can’t have it both ways: Feigning he’s unaware yet going after Trump with a vengeance. Barr and Durham are looking carefully at Comey’s testimony to decide whether or not to charge him.
Feinstein still shows at 87-years-of age she’s the wily politician, still capable of challenging Graham’s assertions. “We should not ignore or excuse what happened in 2016,” Feinstein said. FBI Director [Christopher] Wray and the Intelligence Community have warned that Russia is interfering win the 2020 election with the aim of denigrating Vice President Biden,” Feinstein said, showing she’s the master of distraction. Feinstein is wrong that IG Horowitz said there was no conspiracy inside the FBI to sabotage Trump’s 2016 campaign, including Comey. Horowitz said he wasn’t focused on that question. Comey’s failure to “recall” should give Barr and Durham everything they need to indict him for violating the FISA rules. Former FISA Court Chief Judge Rosemary Collyer said that her court was duped by Comey’s error-ridden applications without adequate probable cause.
