LOS ANGELES (OC).–Fresh off victories in the Nov. 4 off-year election, featuring 34-year-old Democrat socialist Zohran Mamdani win the New York City’s mayor’s race, Sen. Mark Warner (D-Vir.), Vice Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, blasted President Donald Trump’s 28-point Ukraine peace plan. Warner was a big backer of former President Joe Biden’s proxy war with the Russian Federation, something that cost the U.S. Treasury $300 billion. Biden and Ukraine’s 37-year-old President Volodymer Zelensk actually thought they could vanquish the Kremlin. Biden said March 26, 2022, shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion, that the purpose of the U.S. mission in Ukraine was to degrade the Russian military to the point it could no longer wage war. Ukraine’s intel agency said that Putin’s military was near collapse, encouraging Zelesky to go to war.
Warner tells Disney-owned liberal ABC News “This Week” that Trump’s peace plan was similar to former British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain telling Hitler in Berlin 1938 that he could take Sudentenland [Czechoslovakia] if he agreed to say out of other parts of Europe. “My reaction is it’s awful. It would make Neville Chamberlian’s giving in to Hitler—the outset of WW II—look strong in comparision,” Warner said, making him look like a real amateur historian. President Donald Trump has worked day-and-night to end the U.S. proxy war with the Kremlin, realizing it wrecked U.S.-Russian relations. Trump wanted the U.S. to get back to foreign policy, not the damaging U.S.-Russian relations in the Biden administration. By the end of Biden’s term, Russia was talking war with the U.S. and EU, largely because Putin saw the war as an existential threat to Russia.
Warner was big backer of Biden’s proxy war with Russia, ignoring the damage it did to U.S. foreign policy and national security. No longer could the U.S. partner with Russia on global hot spots or arms control. Biden was the only post-WW II president to go to war with Russia. Gone were the days when Democrats prided themselves in nuclear nonproliferation and arms control. Biden opted to defend Ukraine at the expense of U.S.-Russian relations. Now Warner says that Trump is giving Zelensky a raw deal. Warner called Trump’s peace plan” almost a series of Russian talking points,” the typical Democrat response for arguing that the war with Russian should go on. Trump won the 2024 election with a promise to end the Ukraine War at the earliest possible time. Democrats slammed Trump for not ending it sooner like he promised in the campaign.
Trump found out the hard way how difficult it is to stop war, when both sides stubbornly resist moving to the peace people. When it comes to Putin, he wants peace, just no on Zelensky’s terms, demanding that Russia leave Ukraine entirely. “This would be a complete capitulation,” Warner said. “And it’s why I think you’re hearing from Congress, both side people pushing back. And, obviously, the Europeans feel like they’ve been totally left high and dry,” said Warner. European have played along with Zelensky, agreeing that he should never cede any land to Putin. Well, if there’s no land exchanged to end the war, the war will continue to rage on indefinitely. Warner has no peace plan at all, only a play to start up proxy war again with the Russian Federation. Trump’s 28-point peace plan isn’t about taking sides, it’s finding a realistic solution to end the war.
Warmer and other Democrats have no peace plan, only one that would continue supplying Ukraine more cash and deadly arms. Warner only wishes he were still in control of the House and Senate so that the war with Russia could continue indefinitely. Warner doesn’t consider that after nearly four years of war, Zelensky has destroyed his country and lost some 25% of Ukraine’s best sovereign territory. Warner is quick to condemn Trump’s peace plan as favoring Putin but he doesn’t consider how much damage the war has done to Ukraine. Warner wants to continue the highly destructive war that Ukraine cannot win. Trump wants Zelensky to cut his losses, end the war and start rebuilding his country. Warner would have the U.S. in perpetual war with Russia, spending unending taxpayer cash on a war that cannot be won. Warner takes a political shot at Trump.
Warner has no peace plan at all only a continuation of Biden’s failed proxy war with Moscow. Warner would have the U.S. in a perpetual state of war with Russia, no longer a strategic partner working on urgent global issues. When Warner talks about unfairness, he doesn’t see how much destruction has been done to Ukraine. Trump wants Zelensky to accept that to end the war he’s going to have to trade land-for-peace. Warner would have the war with Russia continue indefinitely. What’s Warner talking about “capitulation” when Zelensky opted for war with Moscow Feb. 24, 2022 and had cost Ukraine in terms of death, destruction and sovereign land? Zelensky would continue the war indefinitely as long as the U.S. or EU pays for it. Warner wants to use Ukraine for Democrat political purposes, not give Trump credit to crafting a realistic peace plan.
