LOS ANGELES.–Asking 53-year-old Mike Waltz to step down as National Security Advisor, 78-year-old President Donald Trump asked 53-year-old Secretary of State Marco Rubio to serve a dual role until he finds a suitable replacement. Trump announced he appointed Waltz to serve as U.N. ambassador, replacing his original choice of 40-year-old Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) who was retained in the House because of the slim GOP margin. When it comes to national security advisor, Rubio can easily perform both tasks for the time being, knowing that Trump is the last word on national security. Rubio has been criticized by Democrats and the press for reversing many of his positions to serve under Trump. Rubio was once a big backer of 82-year-old former President Joe Biden’s Ukraine War. Now working for Trump, Rubio seeks to end the Ukraine War at the earliest possible time.
Rubio, due to his Cuban roots, considered himself an anti-Communist crusader in the U.S. Senate, readily backing Biden’s reckless and costly proxy war in Ukraine with the Kremlin. Once joining Trump’s team, Rubio has made a 180 degree turm, understanding the America First foreign policy that seeks to end all foreign wars, especially the Ukraine War. Rubio once backed U.S. Agency for International Development [USAID], a major source funding U.S. foreign policy especially in the Third World for economic and medical development. Rubio leads the Trump’s White House in defunding many of the USAID projects around the globe, citing waste, fraud, mismanagement and abuse of taxpayer funds. Rubio has made arrangements to deport illegal immigrants to prisons in Latin America where Maryland resident Kilmar Abrego Garcia was deported to El Salvador.
Senate Democrats regret voting 99 to zero for Rubio in his Senate confirmation hearing, realizing he’s no longer the same person they knew for many years. “Marco Rubio, unbelievable,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, saying that Waltz would move over to U.N. ambassador. “When I have a problem, I call up Marco, he gets it solved,” Trump said, showing that he’s become a close personal advisor to the president. Former NSC officials Thomas Wright, now with the liberal Brooking Institution, said the NSA job is more than full-time. “It is just very hard of comprehend the idea that you can do this job sort of part-time, saying that 47-year-old former National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. Sullivan used to spend a lot of his time antagonizing Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, sending U.S. foreign policy into chaos.
Appearing on Fox News “Sean Hannity Show,” Rubio marked the first 100 days praising the president’s vision on foreign policy and national security. “I am honored by the trust President Trump placed in me and I am proud to the work the Department of State has done over the past hundred days to implements his agenda and put the American people first,” Rubio wrote on the State Department Substack post. “Marco is probably, to a certain extent, one of the more reliable Cabinet officers, if not the most reliable,” said former Florida State House colleague Dan Gelber. “And I can only believe those qualities are even more vital to his current confluence of positions and growing portfolio,” Gelber said, saying he’s not surprised that Rubio has become one of Trump’s most treasured advisors. Democrats and he press say it’s because he’s completely acquiesced to Trump’s demands.
When you consider the disaster in the National Security Agency run by Jake Sullivan, nearly pushing Russia and China into WW III, its remarkable how the fake news ignores the damage done for four years under Biden. Sullivan and former Secretary of State Antony Blinkin, 63, implemented Biden’s aggressive, antagonistic foreign policy toward Russia and China. Putin came to see the Ukraine War as Biden’s war against the Russian Federation, ending decades of post WW II diplomacy, détente, arms control and global cooperation. Sullivan and Blinken mirrored Biden’s antagonism toward Russia and China, culminating when Biden said in 2022 he would use U.S. troops to defend Taiwan. Biden’s proxy war in Ukraine with Russia nearly drove the European Continent into WW III. Even today, the EU antagonizes Putin with its incendiary rhetoric.
Rubio has turned into Trump’s right-hand-man largely because he has considerable knowledge of foreign policy and national security. Unlike the past Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Rubio has followed in Trump’s path to restore normal diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation, ending Biden’s reckless proxy war that did nothing other than destroy Ukraine. Rubio has learned from Trump that instead of using the U.S. military to fund foreign wars, the money is best spent building business relations, just like the recent Ukraine rare earth mineral deal signed by Trump and Ukraine’s 47-year-old President Volodymyr Zelensky. Rubio has learned well from Trump he wants to get along with Russia, China and other U.S. adversaries, finding common ground whenever possible. Rubio learned that Biden’s foreign policy was destructive as it gets.
