LOS ANGELES.–Calling his Feb. 28 Oval office meeting with 78-year-old President Trump and 40-year-old Vice President J.D. Vance “regrettable,” 47-year-old Ukrainian President came as close to an apology as anyone expected, saying he wanted to cooperate to bring the Ukraine War to an end.  “Our meeting in Washington at the White House on Friday, did not go the way it was supposed to be.  It is regrettable that it happened this way,” Zelensky said on X.  “It is time to make things right,” Zelensky said, setting the right conciliatory tone after his appalling behavior in the Oval Office.  Truth be told, Zelensky had a nervous breakdown, let his emotions get the better of him, unable to control his temper over Trump’s attempt to reestablish normal diplomatic relations with his archenemy, 72-year-old Russian President Vladimir Putin.  Zelensky, plain and simple, lost his temper.

Zelensky’s halfway apology is really not what White House officials want from Zelensky at this point.  Vice President J.D. Vance said it’s more important what goes on behind closed doors, with Zelensky’s team working with the White House to make a peace deal with Putin.  Zelensky wanted Trump to know that he’s ready at any time to sign the rare earth mineral deal and to move ahead toward a peace deal with Russia.  “Regarding the agreement on minerals and security, Ukraine is ready to sign it any time and in any convenient format,” Zelensky wrote on X, showing how Elon Musk’s platform is the most powerful communication space on the planet.  Democrat attempts to promote Bluesky has been an abysmal failure, all because they despise his role in the Government Efficiency Office.  Democrats and the press conflate their politics with Musk’s many successful businesses.

Zelensky has received much support from the European Union but only, at the end of the day, moral support.  No one in the EU wants to underwrite his war with the Kremlin, urging Zelensky to mend fences with Trump and work toward a quick end to the war. Zelensky has pretended for too long that all he needs is more cash-and-weapons to continue his battle with the Kremlin. Trump’s point he tried to make in the Oval Office is that it’s time to cut his losses and make peace.  Zelensky hoped he could get the chance to retake his lost sovereign territory, something not likely to happen now.  “A lot of people have made this about public statements. ‘President Zelensky needs to say he’s is committed to the peace, [or] ‘President Zelensky needs to apologize to the president,’” Vance said. Vance said the public statements don’t matter it’s the work behind the scenes that matter.

However anyone interprets Zelensky X posts, it’s clearly a veiled apology for his unacceptable outbursts in his Feb. 28 Oval Office meeting with Trump.  Trump has Zelensky where he wants him now, committed to a peace formula where Trump’s in charge negotiating behind closed doors with Putin.  Polish President Andrzej Duda told Zelensky to chill out, trust Trump and let him get Ukraine the best deal possible to end the three years destructive war. Trump tried to tell Zelensky in the Oval Office that playing tough guy was not scoring points in any future deal.  “We are ready to work fast to end the war, and the first stages could be the release of prisoners and truce in the sky—ban on missiles, long-range drones, bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure—and truce in the sea immediately, if Russia will do the same,” Zelensky wrote on X.

Zelensky  has all but prostrate himself beforeTrump at this point, no need for further apologies, just letting Trump work his magic to come up with an acceptable peace deal with Putin.  “Then we want to move very fast through all next stages and worked with the U.S. to agree to a strong final deal,” Zelensky said.  If that’s no acquiescence then what is?  Zelensky has done everything now to make amends for his appalling conduct in the Oval Office. Whether admitted to or not, he cracked under the weight of his own fragile emotions, unable to deal with peace situation objectively.  Zelensky blinding hatred toward Putin and Trump’s decision to move toward normal diplomatic relations with Moscow sent Zelensky over the edge. Zelensky has made clear he’s not up to battling the U.S. any longer, not longer seeking the EU to takeover funding his war with the Kremlin.

Trump got everything he needs from Zelensky to plow ahead with a peace deal with Putin to end the Ukraine War.  Democrats and the EU tried to push back but they realized that Trump is commander-in-chief and has every legal right to seek peace in Ukraine and restore normal diplomatic relations with Russia.  Listening to Democrats call Trump a traitor or for seeking peace exposes the hypocrisy of the Biden foreign policy.  Funding proxy war with the Kremlin but expecting to conduct normal diplomatic relations with Russia. Trump understands that there’s more at stake than just ending the Ukraine War for U.S. foreign policy and national security.  He wants Russia as a cooperative global partner moving forward. Zelensky said how grateful he is for America’s support.  Now he must let Trump finish the job of getting the best possible peace deal for Ukraine.
