LOS ANGELES.–In a colossal departure from the European Union [EU], the U.S. vetoed a pro-Ukraine U.N. resolution that said Russia was the aggressor in the Ukraine War, demanding that Russia remove all its troops from Ukraine. Trump split with EU allies because the resolution was incompatible with 78-year-old President Donald Trump’s decision to restore normal diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation.  Biden wrecked decades of diplomacy, détente and arms control, funding proxy war in Ukraine against the Russian Federation.  Liberal publications called Trump’s veto a “major setback for the Trump administration” but there’s no evidence that’s true with at least 65 of the 193 U.N. member-states abstaining from voting.  EU officials haven’t pivoted to the Trump administration’s decision to end the Ukraine War but, more importantly, to reset normal U.S.-Russian relations.

Some media outlets are railing against Trump for saying that Ukraine’s 47-year-old President Volodymyr Zelensky started the war Feb. 24, 2022, despite taking it out of context.  Trump said Zelensky had a choice to resolve the conflict through dialogue and negotiation but chose instead to go to the war with the Kremlin.  Three years to the day later, Ukraine has been demolished by the Russian Federation, thousands of dead, infrastructure destroyed and Ukraine losing more sovereign territory by the day.  But the EU can’t figure out the logic of Trump making a peace deal with the Kremlin?  Zelensky would keep the fight going, telling the U.S. to continue supplying enough cash-and-weapons to prevail one day in some murky future.  Most military analysts don’t see Zelensky vanquishing the Russian Federation.  Yet Trump has been blamed by Zelensky and the EU for not including him in peace talks.

When it comes the United Nations there are plenty of countries outside the EU that don’t agree with a resolution blaming Russia for the Ukraine War.  Yes, everyone knows that Putin moved 200,000 troops into Ukraine Feb. 24, 2022, but they don’t see it without provocation.  Before the invasion Putin tried to get Biden to discuss new security arrangements with Ukraine.  Putin told Biden that the current arrangement of the U.S. supplying unlimited cash-and-lethal weapons to Ukraine threatened Russian national security.  Biden ignored Putin’s requests for months until Putin said he would start a “special military operation” to stop the flow of U.S. weapons into Ukraine.  Biden said the war was “unprovoked and unjustified,” but not for the Kremlin that asked for months stop the flow of arms into Ukraine.  So, when it comes to U.N. resolution, Trump won’t blame Russia for the invasion.

Listening to Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), 83, he repeats the exact same Biden talking points that Russia was the aggressor, blaming Trump for misunderstanding Putin.  McConnell is so cognitive challenged no one listens to him other that the fake news.  He’s in the same category as Liz Cheney, John Bolton, George Conway, Michael Cohen or any of the other Trump haters on the fake news.  But is McConnell really oblivious to the U.S. arming Ukraine to the teeth and eventually forcing Putin’s hand on the invasion?  Biden liked to say the invasion was “unprovoked and unjustified” but Biden knew he was pushing Putin to the breaking point.  McConnell gets on the fake news when he says anything disparaging about Trump.  McConnell has no clout in the GOP, only embarrasses himself every time he makes derogatory comments about Trump.

When it comes to the U.N., Trump’s veto speaks volumes about the reversal of Biden’s foreign policy.  EU members haven’t figured out what to do now that Trump seeks to normalize diplomatic relations with the Kremlin.  Why should Trump support as resolution that blames Russia and doesn’t tell the whole story of why happened leading up to the Feb. 24, 2022 invasion.  No one U.S. or foreign press outlets mentions a thing about Biden arming Ukraine to the teeth in the months before the invasion.  French President Emmanuel Macron introduced an amendment to the resolution which adds “the conflict was the result of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation,” something Trump could only veto.  No one in the EU acknowledges that Biden was arming Ukraine against Kremlin objections for eventual war with the Russian Federation.

Trump isn’t concerned about typical U.N. debating point about the Ukraine War. He wants a new day, a new beginning with the U.S. accepting that mistakes were made by Biden by arming Kiev with unlimited lethal weapons. “As we mark three years of this devastation—Russia’s full invasion against Ukraine—we call on all nations to stand firm and to take . . . the side of the Charter, the side of humanity and the side of just and lasting peace through strength,” said Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Mariana Betsa.  Betsa thinks that it was OK for Ukraine to receive all the lethal weapons in wanted before pushing Putin to act?  Trump isn’t concerned what happens in the U.N., knowing the world’s most populous countries China and India take no side in the conflict.  Trump seeks a complete reversal of Biden’s warmongering with the Kremlin and end to the Ukraine War.
