LOS ANGELES.–President Donald Trump, 78, is due to meet 47-year-old French President Emmanuel Macron Monday and 62-year-old British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, both of whom ardent supporters of 47-year-old Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Zelensky turned usually reliable U.S. allies against Trump in Munich, saying he was blindsided by Trump in secret discussions with 72-year-old Russian President Vladimir Putin. Macron once made a valiant attempt in 2021 to avoid war in Ukraine, trying to convince Putin that there was no threat to the Russian Federation with 82-year-old former President Joe Biden arming Ukraine to the teeth. Biden didn’t listen to Putin or Macron at the time continuing to arm Ukraine with lethal U.S. weapons over Kremlin objections for months before the Feb. 24, 2022 invasion. When the invasion took place, Biden denied he had anything to do with it.
All the White House talking points at the time said the invasion was “unprovoked and unjustified,” something repeated by the Biden security team led by 62-year-old former Secretary of State Antony Blinken and 47-year-old National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan. U.S. press parroted back Biden’s talking points that the invasion was “unprovoked and unjustified.” Well, from Putin’s point of view, arming Ukraine to the teeth was no joke, asking Biden for months to discuss new security arrangement for Ukraine. Biden never responded to Putin’s requests prompting Putin to say he would implement a “special military operation” designed to de-militarize the Ukraine war machine. Macron and Starmer went along with Biden’s decision to fund proxy war with the Kremlin, even though Macron in particular did everything possible to avoid the war.
U.S. press backed Biden’s proxy war in Ukraine, supplying the lion’s share of Ukraine’s cash-and-arms to fund proxy war against the Kremlin. Biden trashed decades of diplomacy, détente and arms control with Russia, all to back little known Ukraine against the Russian Federation. Biden had a peculiar relationship with Ukraine having previously headed up former President Barack Obama’s anti-corruption task force. Biden landed his son Hunter and friend Devon Archer lucrative jobs on a corrupt Kiev energy company board, making them millions. How that factored into Biden’s decision to throw the Kremlin under the bus to defend Ukraine is anyone’s guess. No one in the fake news is willing to look at Biden’s inappropriate ties with Ukraine that led to the U.S. funding proxy war. Biden turned a global peace partner in Russia into a mortal enemy overnight.
Putin and Kremlin officials came to understand the Ukraine War as an existential war against the Russian Federation by the Western Alliance. Putin didn’t fool around mobilizing whatever it took to aggressively seize Ukrainian territory, knowing one day the war would end but not knowing how and when that would happen. President Donald Trump made ending the Ukraine a major part of his 2024 presidential campaign, promising, if elected, he would end the war in 24 hours, to make the point that he would end the conflict quickly because of his relationship with Putin. Obama and Biden officials spent years accusing Trump of colluding with the Kremlin to win the 2016 election, something proved false by Special Counsel Robert Mueller in 2019. But Trump continued his quest campaign for president to end the Ukraine War and restore peace to the European Continent.
Now Trump plans to meet with Macron and Starmer, both of whom know that Trump hasn’t locked out Zelensky from potential peace talks with Putin but recognize that Zelensky said in the past he would never meet face-to-face with Putin because he’s a war criminal. Zelensky rejected numerous peace plans over the last three years from various countries, all saying they favored Russia. So, when it comes to negotiating an end of the conflict, Zelensky has his own ideas but clearly unrealistic. “I’ve been watching him negotiate with no cards. He has no cards and you get sick of it,” Trump said. You just get sick of it and I’ve had it,” referring to Zelensky making unrealistic demands, including that Putin be prosecuted in The Hague’s International Criminal Court for war criminal, remove all troops from Ukraine and pay reparations. Trump knows Zelensky is an obstacle to peace.
When Trump meets with Macron and Starmer this week, he’ll let them know that everything is being done to get Ukraine the best possible deal in any peace settlement. He’ll also let them know that he’s the only one that initiated peace, not his predecessor, not the EU, and certainly not Zelensky. When Trump says Zelensky has no cards, he refers to the fact that he’s lost the war over the last three years. All Zelensky can say is give me more cash-and-lethal weapons to continue the war into the foreseeable future. But the fact remains that Ukraine loses more sovereign land and destroys itself daily. Zelensky has no plan other than to keep the war going as long as the U.S. foots the bill. Trump said its time for Ukraine to cuts its losses and get back to rebuilding the country once the war is over. Macron and Starmer will get the message when they visit this week.
