LOS ANGELES.–Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), 61, the lead House manager on Trump’s second impeachment trial, is slated to replace 77-year-old Rep. Jerold Nadler (D-N.Y.) as ranking member on the House Judiciary Committee. Raskin’s a loyal partisan Democrat, still licking his wounds after his party’s shellacking in the Nov. 5 election, leaving 78-year-old President Donald Trump controlling the presidency, House and Senate. “House Democrats must stand in the breach to defend the principles and institutions of constitutional democracy,” Raskin wrote to his colleagues, seeking to become ranking members of the House Judiciary Committee. “That is our historic assignment now. We dare not fail,” Raskin said, repeating Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 campaign failed talking points, saying that Trump was “fascist” and “dictator” who would destroy American democracy.

Raskin’s statement about saving democracy comes at a bad time when 82-year-old President Joe Biden just eviscerated the rule of law by pardoning in 54-year-old son Hunter for a gun charge and income tax evasions. Raskin sounds sanctimonious but only when it serves him politically, a true Democrat hack, willing to do anything for the sake of the party. You won’t see Raskin talking about what happened in 2024 when U.S. voters turned against Kamala and gave Trump a landslide victory in the Electoral College. When you consider Republicans haven’t won the popular vote in 20 years, Trump beat Kamala in by 2.5 million votes, a clear popular mandate, no matter how Democrats deny it. When Raskin talks about democratic principles and institutions, he’s talking about how Democrats can regain control of the White House, House and Senate in another four years.

Raskin was a vociferous advocate for Trump’s second impeachment trial for “incitement of insurrection.” Raskin pleaded his case in the U.S. Senate convict Trump of fomenting the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riots. Raskin referred to the riots as an “insurrection” hoping, like other Democrats, to use the 14th Amendment, Section 3, to prevent Trump from ever appearing on a ballot again. Raskin’s defense of the Constitution only happens when it favors Democrats. Supreme Court rained on Democrats 14th Amendment rubbish March 4, ruling that Trump must be placed back on the Colorado ballot. Raskin knew the FBI record that the Jan. 6 Capitol riots were planned for months yet still blamed Trump for “incitement of insurrection.” Raskin looked heartbroken when the Senate acquitted Trump Feb. 13, 2021 for “incitement of insurrection,” after making the Democrats’ case.

Raskin said the Judiciary Committee in 2025 under his leadership would become “the headquarters of Congressional opposition to authoritarianism,” to stop Trump from violating the Constitution. If Democrats in power violate the Constitution, Raskin has no problem with that, saying nothing about Biden pardoning his son Hunter. Raskin said nothing when former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), 84, and 63-year-old former President Barack Obama coerced Biden to drop out of the 2024 race. Biden had won 14 million votes in Democrats primaries to become the Democrat Party nominee. Raskin had no problem, said nothing, about Biden getting pushed out of the race. So, when it comes to Raskin protecting the Constitution, it’s all about what benefits Democrats, having nothing to do with the rule of law. Biden’s pardon of Hunter was backlash for removing him from the 2024 race.

Once Raskin was done making the case against Trump in his second impeachment trial, he went on to lead the Jan. 6 House Select Committee that spent 18 months investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection, concluding that Trump planned and orchestrated the riots. Raskin’s Jan. 6 Select Committee findings were transmitted to Atty. Gen. Merrick Garland who used the charges to appoint Special Counsel Jack Smith to charge Trump with various federal crimes. Raskin knew there were not facts in evidence that linked Trump to the Capitol riots, yet had no problems with violating Trump’s 14th Amendment rights charging him with multiple federal felonies. So, when the criminal justice system works for partisan purposes, Raskin has no problems throwing the book at his Republican opponents. Raskin did everything possible to stop Trump from running in 2024.

Raskin would have no real impact on the Senate confirmation hearings on Trump’s appointments for Cabinet posts. Raskin could only make a lot of noise making headlines at the New York Times, Washington Post and in broadcast outlets like CNN and MSNBC, all opposed to Trump’s presidency. Raskin vigorously defended Biden from allegations in the Republican controlled House Oversight and Judiciary Committees accusing him of profiting from Hunter’s overseas business deals. Raskin doesn’t want to know how Joe became a mulitmillinaire after leaving the Vice President post in 2017. “If I’m lucky enough to be chosen for this responsibility in the 119th Congress, I will turn to Jerry [Nadler] first and throughout for his always wise counsel and political judgment,” Raskin said obsequiously. Raskin is first-and-foremost a Democrat political hack.
