LOS ANGELES.–Showing that 46-year-old Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky grows more desperate by the day, he said that if Ukraine can’t join NATO it would seek nuclear weapons as a deterrent to Russian aggression. Zelensky has been looked in a life-and-death battle with the Kremlin since 71-year-old Russian President Vladimir Putin moved over 100,000 troops across the Ukrainian border Feb. 24, 2022. Biden, who’s been suffering from cognitive impairments for years, refused before the Ukraine War to discuss new security arrangement with Putin over Ukraine. Biden had been arming Ukraine over Kremlin objections for years, really since the Feb. 22, 2014 CIA backed coup that toppled the Kremlin-backed Kiev government of Viktor Yanukovych. Zelensky kept provoking Putin by asking for fast-track NATO membership, something that never happened.
Zelensky opted for war over a ceasefire and peace deal with Putin when he offered in March 2022 to end the conflict if Zelensky would recognize the independence of Donetsk and Luhansk, and Russian sovereignty over Crimea. Zelensky said “no” to Putin and has watched Ukraine’s infrastructure and economy destroyed over the last three years, including, most importantly, losing some 20-25% of Ukraine sovereign territory. Now Zelensky talks crazy about Ukraine acquiring nuclear weapons to serve as deterrent to Russia. “Under no circumstances will Russia allow this to happen,” Putin said. “Any step in this direction will meet an adequate response,” Putin said, not say exactly what he would do. Ukraine already controls the Kursk border region since Aug. 6 when Zelensky decided to move some 10,000 troops inside the Russian territory.
Zelensky thinks he has more leverage with Putin, when, in fact, he has less leverage because Putin would not consider negotiating a ceasefire and peace deal until Zelensky removes all his forces from Russian soil. Putin seems like he’s in no rush to recapture lost Russian territory, refusing to remove enough troops from Donbas to reverse Zelensky’s counteroffensive in the Kursk region. “Who gave up nuclear weapons? All of them? No. Ukraine. Who is fighting today? Ukraine,” Zelensky said, implying that he would seek nuclear weapons as a deterrent to Russian aggression. “Either Ukraine will have nuclear weapons and that will be our protection or we should have some sort of alliance. Apart from NATO, today we do not know any effective alliances,” Zelensky said, talking trash, because he’s destroyed Ukraine with his horrific decision to get to war with the Kremlin.
Zelensky buffaloed a cognitive impaired 81-year-old President Joe Biden, who’s past foreign policy failures were preceded his reckless decision to fund proxy war in Ukraine with the Kremlin. Biden was the first and only U.S. president to go to war with the Kremlin, ending decades of diplomacy, détente and arms control that constituted U.S. foreign policy since the end of WW II. Anyone listening to Zelensky, including Putin, knows he’s talking through his hat, knowing that Russia would never allow Ukraine to possess nuclear weapons. Where would Ukraine get a nuclear weapon in the first place, other than the United States. Biden won’t give Zelensky the green light to use U.S. or NATO long-range weapons to attack deep inside the Russian Federation. Yet Zelensky shows he’s not playing with a full deck, trying to intimidate Putin about nuclear weapons.
Zelensky had to walk back his comments with NATO’s new Secretary-General Mark Rutte. “We never spoke about that we are preparing to create nuclear weapons or something like this,” Zelensky said. “We don’t do nuclear weapon. Please, don’t move these messages,” Zelensky said, realizing his gaffe about getting a nuke roiled a lot of world leaders. When it comes to Zelensky and the Ukraine War, he’s rejected every peace plan offered by many reputable countries including China and Brazil, both of which said recently that they’d like to see the Ukraine War moved to the peace table. Zelensky has insisted on unrealistic conditions, demanding that Putin be tried as a war criminal and the Moscow pays war reparations to the Kiev government. If Trump wins Nov. 5, Zelensky will be forced to move the conflict to the peace table or risk a cut-off of U.S. aid.
Talking about getting nukes to combat Russian aggression, Zelensky showed why he’s not fit to lead Ukraine, but, more importantly, to handle any peace negotiation with the Russian Federation. Zelensky likes getting billions in U.S. cash to pay for his government salaries, including his own. Whether the same billions keep flowing into Kiev is anyone’s guess. What’s known for sure is that Trump does not support giving Kiev a blank check to battle the Kremlin. If Zelensky talks about getting a nuke to deter Russia, he’s no fit to lead Ukraine out of the current war into any kind of peace settlement. Speaking to journalists at the current BRICS meeting, Putin warned Zelensky that any pursuit of nuclear weapons would be considered a mortal threat to the Russian Federation. Zelensky’s public chatter shows he’s not fit to lead Ukraine into peace talks with Russia.
