LOS ANGELES.–Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, 74, weighed in on the U.S. presidential race, a real no-no for any Russian politician knowing how it can be used against a candidate by the U.S. press. Lavrov agreed wholeheartedly with 39-year-old GOP Vice President nomiee J.D. Vance who said he does not support more arms-and-cash for Ukraine. Lavrov knows that Vance agrees 100% with 78-year-old President Donald Trump who wants to return to normal diplomatic relations with the Kremlin. Trump paid a whopping price for have good diplomatic relations with 71-year-old Russian President Vladimir Putin, 71-year-old Chinese President Xi Jinping and 40-year-old North Korean President Kim Jong-un. Trump got along with all three dictators but was accused by Democrats and the press of having inappropriate relations with America’s chief adversaries.
Trump was branded by former 76-year-old former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton for colluding with the Kremlin to win the 2016 presidential election. Hillary lost, of course, but not before she got former President Barack Obama to let her use the Department of Justice, State Department, FBI, CIA and National Security Agency [NSA] to investigate Trump for the purpose of sabotaging his campaign. Obama let all the tools of government to beat Trump in 2016 and still lost Nov. 3, 2016. Democrats and the press hounded Trump for his years in office [2017-2021], all due to fake claims Hillary made in her paid opposition research AKA The Steele Dossier. DOJ and FBI officials, led by former FBI Chairman James Comey, used Hillary’s fake dossier as probable cause to investigate Trump and his 2016 campaign, eventually leading to Comey’s May 8, 2018 firing.
DOJ officials struck back at Trump after he fired Comey appointing Deputy Atty. Gen. Rod Rosenstein who promptly appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller to investigate Trump. After two years and $40 million, Mueller found nothing, ending his probe March 23, 2019. Yet House Democrats led by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and former House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) insisted Trump colluded with the Kremlin to win the 2016 election. Pelosi formed the Jan. 6 House Select Committee to investigate Trump for obstructing the 2020 presidential election. Pelosi and other Democrats concluded based on fabricated evidence that Trump planned and orchestrated the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection. Atty. Gen. Merrick Garland, 72, selected Special Counsel Jack Smith to charge Trump with multiple felonies.
So, what Comey did in 2016, Smith did in 2023 in charging Trump with obstructing the 2020 presidential election. All the government persecution leaves Trump, now the GOP 2024 nominee, of defending multiple felonies. Yet Lavrov sees Trump and his running mate J.D. Vance as taking the right tack on Ukraine. “He’s in favor of peace, he’s in favor of ending the assistance that being provided and we can only welcome that because that’s what we need—to stop pumping Ukraine full of weapons and then the war will end,” Lavrov told a press conference July 17 at a U.N. foreign ministers conference in New York. Trump and Vance’s opposition to funding the Ukraine War leaves Democrats and the press of accusing Trump and Vance of more Russian collusion. Trump and Vance want the Ukraine War to end to return to normal U.S.-Russian relations.
Russia wants better U.S. relations but hasn’t gotten it under Biden, largely because of Biden’s cognitive impairments. His communication is so affected his poor memory and disabled communication skills, he can’t engage in diplomacy. “We will work with any American leader, will maintain ready to work with any U.S. leaders who the U.S. people elected,” Lavrov said, “if the leader is willing to engage in equitable, mutually respectful dialogue,” Lavrov said, referring to Biden calling Putin a “murderous madman,” not the kind of insult to improve diplomatic relations. Lavrov walks a tightrope knowing how the U.S. press perverts any statements by Russian leaders. Biden had done everything since taking office Jan. 20, 2021 to wreck U.S.-Russia and U.S.-Chinese relations. Getting back to normal diplomatic would help the U.S. and Russia solve many world problems.
Lavrov laments the fact that under President Joe Biden, 81, diplomatic relations have deteriorated to a post-WW II low-point. “It was during the Trump presidency that the sanctions war began. It is fair to say that Obama started ti, but sanctions increase during the Trump presidency, both economic and diplomatic ones. But during that period, the dialogue at the highest levels between Washington and us was underway. Right now, there is no dialogue,” Lavrov said, saying how things changed with Biden. Why the U.S. press praises Biden for wrecking U.S.-Russian relations is anyone’s guess. Lavrov looks forward to improved relations under a new Trump and Vance administration. All the fake news about Trump colluding with Russia made diplomatic relations with Moscow more difficult. Trump wants to end the war and return to cooperative, pragmatic relations.
