LOS ANGELES.–Former President Bill Clinton’s 80-year-old chief strategist James Carville called on 81-year-old President Joe Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race based on his June 27 abysmal debate performance. Biden appeared in CNN’s 90-minue debate to be incoherent at times, jumbling his words, unable to communicate in an intact fashion, a prerequisite to running the White House and acting as commander-in-chief. Biden didn’t have a bad night from a common cold, he exposed for all to see his severe age-related cognitive decline, rendering him disabled, unable to fulfill his duties as president of the United States. Carville, speaking to CNN’s Jake Tapper June 30, said Democrats should do “something different” with Biden asking him to step aside. “Everyone saw what they saw on Thursday night. I don’t take any pleasure in the this,” Carville said.
Carville told Tapper that a recent CBS poll said that 72% of respondents said Biden’s health is not adequate to serve four more years in office. “The country is clamoring for a change, and what are we going to offer them? The same stuff? It doesn’t make any sense,” Carville told Tapper. Carville talks about giving Democrat voters the option of another candidate, noting that Democrats have 58-yar-old Vice President Kamala Harris ready to go, and others, like 56-year-old California Gov. Gavin Newsom, are ready to go as well. Carville said the country’s is looking for a change so why not give voters what they want. Carville wants to give Democrat voters a different option in the fall but has no comment on Biden’s current fitness to manage the Oval Office. Biden’s debate performance indicates that he’s not fit to make any presidential decisions now or in the future.
Biden’s Cabinet, led by Vice President Kamala Harris, has a Constitutional duty under the 25th Amendment to remove a president due to death or disability. When it comes to dementia or age-related cognitive decline, Biden no longer has the faculties needed to discharge his office without causing harm to U.S. national security. When you look at the war with Russian Federation in Ukraine, the war in the Middle East, the Iranian-backed Houthi attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea and the brewing confrontation with Communist China, it’s clear that Biden hasn’t been doing his job for some time. No U.S. citizens can count on the White House being run by underlings like 73-year-old First Lady Jill Biden or Biden’s 78-year-old sister Valerie Owen or any other unnamed kitchen Cabinet member. If Biden can’t discharge his Constitutional duties, he should resign.
Today’s Our Revolution poll of 17,000 progressive voters said the Biden should resign after his abysmal June 27 debate performance. Whatever excuses the White House gives for Biden continuing to fight on, he’s fighting an uphill battle. Democrats, Republicans and independents deserve a competently functioning president, not one suffering from age-related cognitive decline and dementia. “I really like President Biden, but man, the country wants something new, let them have it. Why are we fighting this inevitable desire?” Carville said, again asking that Biden let a new candidate represent the Democrat Party in the 2024 election. But the issue ignored by Carville and other Democrats now is about whether Biden is fit enough to continue as president. It’s not acceptable that the White House is managed by underlings, like Biden’s wife Jill or his sister Valerie Owens.
Today’s Democrat-controlled press sees only the political repercussions of Biden stepping down, worried they might lose to 78-year-old former President Donald Trump. Biden’s statement yesterday about the Supreme Court ruling that Trump had presidential immunity for official acts in office was completely scripted and made no sense. How can anyone listening to anything Biden says in the press or on the campaign trail trust his statements? Biden made a purely political statement asking American citizens to reject the Supreme Court, one of the three independent branches of the American government. Biden and Democrats complain that Trump wants to be a dictator and destroy U.S. democracy. But when U.S. democracy works and the Supreme Court rules, Biden asks voters to reject the ruling because it’s not aligned with the Democrat agenda of beating Trump.
Carville made a valid argument why the Party should replace Biden as the nominee. “Give the people a shot, let them see who’s in the party, and I believe there’s staggering talent in the Democrat Party. Get out of the way and let a thousand flowers bloom,” Carville said. Since the disastrous June 27 debate, Democrats, Republicans and independents know that Biden is not fit for the Oval Office today, certainly not running for four more years. Because his wife Jill and Sister Valerie Owens are determined to stay in power doesn’t mean it’s best for the country. Every patriotic American knows that the president must be competent in terms of medical and mental health. Biden showed for all to see he’s prone toward communication breakdowns, unable to impart his thoughts in a coherent leader. No president, with all the pressing national security issues, can be in that state.
