LOS ANGELES.– President Joe Biden, 81, finally meets resistance in Republican circles for continuing waste more taxpayer money on the reckless Ukraine War. Biden and Ukraine’s 45-year-old President Volodymyr Zelensky have been gaslighting Congress and the American public about the war, claiming that 71-year-old President Vladimir Putin has his eyes on picking off more countries in Europe, especially former Soviet satellites like the Baltic States and Poland. But Biden has zero proof of Putin’s ambitions only the Feb. 24, 2022 “Special Military Operation” where Putin moved some 500,000 troops into Ukraine. Biden refuses to level with the American public and Europe how the whole mess started. For months before the Russian invasion, Putin asked Biden to meet to discuss new security arrangements in Ukraine. Putin told Biden that the U.S. supplying lethal arms to Ukraine was a threat to Russian national security.
Biden ignored all of Putin’s overtures to discuss new security arrangements, eventually moving in the Russian army to respond to the U.S. threat to the Kremlin. Biden called Putin’s invasion “unprovoked and unjustified” because he refused to admit how he caused the invasion. Just like China refuses to accept responsibility for Covid-19, Biden refused to admit how he provoked Putin into taking military action. “I don’t like the reality,” said Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Minn.). “Vladimir Putin is an evil war criminal,” but “Vladimir Putin will not lose this war,” Johnson said, stating why he opposes the conflict. Johnson should have more objections to the Ukraine War beyond what happens to the outcome. Johnson should want to return to the post-WW-II order in which the U.S. and Europe accept Russia as a communist state but learn to get along to live in peace.
Johnson only talks about the impossibility of Biden and Zelensky meeting their stated objectives of degrading the Russian military and beating the Kremlin. Liberal publicans in the U.S. and Europe claim that Putin has his eyes on taking over more countries in Europe, concluding that Putin has become expansionist trying to return to the old Soviet Union or Russian Empire. “Putin is losing,” said Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C). said on the Senate floor before Johnson spoke. “This is not a stalemate” Tillis said, contradicting Biden’s former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of State Gen. Mark Miley and Zelensky’s former chief Gen. Valery Zaluzhnyi, both saying there is no military solution in Ukraine. Trump’s only GOP rival former U.N. Amb. Nikki Haley said that Trump sides with Putin a brutal dictator, trying to score political points. But the GOP is divided on Ukraine.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) ranted on the Senate floor opposed to Biden’s latest $81 billion bill to continue funding the Ukraine proxy war with the Kremlin. Paul said it should sicken all Americans that Biden wants to spend U.S. tax dollars on a war in Ukraine, rather than on urgent domestic needs like health care or homelessness. “If you oppose a blank check to another country, I guess that makes you a Russian,” said Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Al.). Tuberville said that Tucker Carlson’s recent interview with Putin showed that “Russian wants to make peace,” unlike the “DC warmongers,” Tuberville said. Biden and his VP Kamala Harris made it America’s patriotic duty to fund war in Ukraine, not look for peace talks. U.S. media backs the Ukraine War as if they know anything about the damage it does to U.S. foreign policy and national security. Why the U.S. press wants war is anyone’s guess.
Biden’s proxy war against the Kremlin goes against generations of diplomacy, détente and arms control since the end of WW II. Biden is the first and only U.S. president to fund war against the Kremlin, all because he back Ukraine’s territorial dispute with Russia. What Putin objects to is Biden arming Ukraine to the teeth and waging proxy war against the Russian Federation. Some in the media frame the conflict as Putin supporting conservative Republican values, especially Chrisitian Evangelicals. “Russia is now the beacon of conservative ideas,” said Olga Kamenchuk, Northwestern University professor, showing how academics completely miss the point. U.S.-Russian relations over generations of U.S. presidents have worked tirelessly on finding common ground with the communist nuclear superpower. Evangelicals have nothing to do with U.S.-Russian relations.
Biden abysmal judgment has the U.S. pouring billions into Ukraine in a losing proposition. Biden can’t see that no matter how much taxpayer cash and lethal weapons he gives Ukraine, Ukraine will not defeat the Russian Federation. Zelensky has shown zero interest in negotiations and compromise, insisting Russia leave every inch of Russian territory. Since the 2014 Maiden Revolution, Putin has no intent of returning the Crimean Peninsula to Ukraine, home of Russia’s Black Sea fleet. When it comes the Donbass, the people’s republics of Donestsk and Luhansk, Putin also has no intent of abandoning Russia speaking enclaves in the region. U.S. media has demonized Trump for seeking peace talks to end the destructive conflict that has left Ukraine bankrupt and in ruins. If you listen to the U.S. press, the Ukraine War must go on until WW III or nuclear war.
