LOS ANGELES.–White House officials are in full-on panic over Special Counsel Robert Ur’s 388-page report detailing the reasons behind his decision to not prosecute 81-year-old President Joe Biden for retaining classified documents at his home, Penn and University of Delaware. Ur upended the Biden campaign saying while the president violated various record acts, his memory was in such poor shape that he couldn’t get a jury to convict Biden, deciding instead to leave a complete and accurate record of Biden’s interview with his department. Ur went into great detail, not for political reasons, but to accurately characterize Biden’s state-of-mind during his two days of interviews. Already viewed by voters a too old for a second term, Ur’s report corroborates with voters observations about Biden’s functioning. Ur showed that Biden suffers from age-related cognitive decline.
White House communication officials have pulled out all the stops to discredit the gist of the report, that Biden’s poor memory and cognitive functioning prevents him from conducting his job as president of the United States. White House officials in the most biased way possible have gotten most of Biden’s staff and personal supporters to vouch for him. Ur said in his report that Biden could not recall when he was Vice President under former President Barack Obama or when his son Beau died. Biden’s apologists have only one thing in mind, preserving his viability as a 2024 presidential candidate, nothing else. White House officials don’t care about the dangers of letting the leader of the Free World conduct business-as-usual with dementia, a condition that affects memory, judgment and decision-making.
Former U.S. Atty. Preet Bharara said the statement about Biden’s memory or cognitive functioning were not relevant to Biden’s handling of classified documents, calling Ur’s report “gratuitous, superfluous statements.” But Ur gave key insights into the DOJ’s charging decision, saying that Biden would be a sympathetic witness to any jury because “he’s a elderly man with poor memory.” Ur found that Biden “willfully” retained government property, similar to what former President Donald Trump had done, prompting Special Counsel Jack Smith to charge Trump with 40 felonies. Ur said that Biden cooperated fully with his office, suggesting that Trump dragged his feet with supplying the DOJ with requested classified documents. Whatever the differences with Trump, Ur decided that he would not move forward charging Biden with any felonies.
Bharara went immediately to Biden;s defense in the most partisan way possible, trying to discredit Special Counsel Robert Ur. If Atty. Gen. Merrick Garland had any problem with Ur’s 388-page report, he would have asked Ur to redact any incendiary information contained in the report. “What I don’t think is correct—and I think the vast majority of legal experts agree with me on this—is [the] gratutitous, superfluous statements about his memory, not as it relates to this particular case or the facts relating to the handling of classified documents,” Bharara told ABC News Sunday, on “This Week.” Bharara plays fast-and-lose defending Biden, when, in fact, Ur gave the logic behind not charging Biden for “willfully” retaining classified government property. Ur said Biden’s poor memory and cognitive state was precisely why he decided that no jury would convict Biden, deciding instead to drop the case. So, when Preet says statements about Biden’s memory were “gratuitous and superfluous,” he’s wrong.
Ur’s statements about Biden’s poor memory give key insight into why he didn’t charge Biden, creating the uproar over the government’s charges against Trump for essentially the same crime. “But as it relates to other things, including memory about the particular date and precise date of his son’s death that had no place in this document,” Bharara said. Bharara is a partisan hack, saying nothing good about Trump, only giving more legal excuses why Biden’s memory and cognitive functioning have no relevance to Biden’s case. Ur made clear that Biden’s memory and cognitive functioning were the actual reasons why he didn’t pursue charges, not that Biden did not commit any crimes. Biden said Feb 8 in a hastily called press conference that he did nothing wrong in retaining classified documents in three locations. Bharara accused Ur or playing politics, when that’s what he’s doing.
Bharara seeks to defend Biden from what was the most damaging disclosure to the public in Ur’s 388-page report that Biden, as reflected in the polls, shows evidence of memory impairment and cognitive decline making him unsuitable for a second term in office. “In a context in which you appointed special counsel to be about politics and away from politics, he provided political grist to the opponents of Joe Biden, as a matter of politics,” Bharara said. Bharhara, not Ur, is the one playing politics, because facts are facts when it came to Ur’s objective analysis as Special Counsel leading to his decision to not charge Biden. What’s political about facts regarding Biden’s functioning? Ur gave the facts, just like Rep. Ronnie Jackson (R-Texas), former President Barack Obama and Trump’s White House physician who said Biden has suffered from dementia for years.
