Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), 81, raised serious concerns about his fitness for office freezing in front of cameras at a July 27 Washington press conference in what looked like an epileptic seizure or some other neurological event. McConnell, whose GOP policies were hated for years by Democrats and the press, has been exploited as a foil to former President Donald Trump. McConnell is a Sen. John McCain (R-Az.) war hawk, backing 80-year-old President Joe Biden’s proxy war against the Russian Federation. McConnnell finds himself aligned wit the liberal press that backs Biden’s proxy war against the Kremlin. McConnell backs Biden’s war primarily because it opposes Trump who calls for an immediate end to a costly U.S. boondoggle. Growing numbers of House Republicans also oppose the Ukraine War, primarily because it’s failed to produce any results.

Now that McConnell’s cognitively impaired, the liberal press pounces on him, primarily to fight Trump’s bid for the 2024 Republican nomination. Washington journalists and bureaucrats try their best to affect the outcome of GOP primary elections but, in the end, it’s primary voters that call the shots. If you believe any polls, Trump looks poised to steamroll through the primaries, primarily because his closest rival, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fl.) can’t get any traction in his 2024 campaign. DeSantis still hopes that another Trump indictment would tilt GOP voters to turn their votes to him, wishful thinking at this point. Trump’s strength with GOP primary voters stems from his campaigning, entertaining audiences not seen since the days of Ronald Reagan. McConnell now serves the liberal press by adopting Biden’s failed foreign policy, backing his Kremlin proxy war.

McConnell claims he’s concerned about defining what a Republican is all about, not agreeing with Trump’s MAGA [Make American Great Again] slogan, denigrated by Democrats as an “isolationist” foreign policy. In reality, Trump wasn’t isolationist at all, only opposed to costly, wasteful foreign wars. Biden picked a real doozy starting a proxy war in Ukraine against the Kremlin. Does McConnell really think that wrecking decades of diplomacy with Russia, going to war against the Kremlin was good thing? Biden keeps repeating Ukraine’s 45-year-old President Volodymyr Zelensky’s rubbish that Ukraine protects European democracy. “There are those who are trying to redefine what a Republican is—I’m not in that group,” said McConnell, obliquely opposing Trump’s Ukraine War stance, backing Biden’s proxy war. McConnell thinks opposing Trump saves the Republican Party.

McConnell’s position on the Ukraine War is untenable, now or in the future. Backing the failed Biden war policy. “And so this is, I think, an important point for the full party’s future give my place in my career at this point, this is the most important thing going on that I might be able to have some impact on,” McConnell says, confirming that he backs Biden’s policy on Ukraine. How pitiful that McConnell has no GOP position on Ukraine, only one that opposes Trump. McConnell’s been under the gun since his seizure, trying to prove to the press that he’s still fit for office. But how fit is McConnell to back Biden’s failed Ukraine policy? McConnell, at the very least, should be calling for a ceasefire and peace talks, not giving Biden the green light to drain the U.S. Treasury indefinitely. McConnell tries to discredit Trump saying he’s concerned about the Republican Party.

When it comes to Ukraine, McConnell only rubber stamps Biden’s failed policy, repeating White House talking points that Putin must be stopped. Biden, like Zelensky, says if Putin isn’t stopped in Ukraine, he’ll march on the rest of Europe. Biden provides no proof of his fanciful assertions stemming from Ukraine’s chief propagandist Kyrlyo Budandov, who said, at different times, that Putin suffers from terminal illness or more recently Alzheimers disease. McConnell buys into Biden’s claptrap that he’s going to defeat the Russian Federation. Any objective war assessment has Putin taking some 25% of Ukraine’s sovereign territory after 18 months of war. So, listening to Biden or Zelensky you’d think the Russian military is near collapse, again more of Budanv’s propaganda. After his neurologic freeze in front of the cameras, McConnell looks to convince the press he’s still fit for office.

McConnell hopes opposing Trump breathes new life into his waning political career. Any look at McConnell shows someone holding on to power, without proving anything by joining the liberal press assault on Trump. “ I think, and this got me attacked by Tucker Carlson back when he was still on his show,. I think the most important thing going on internationally right now is the Ukraine War,” McConnell said. McConnell knows if he can keep attacking Trump, he’ll buy himself more time from his obvious medical problems. McConnell has no answers for the GOP other than fighting Trump, hoping the liberal press still gives him airtime. McConnell knows that Trump is not isolationist just opposed to failed military operations like the disasters in Iraq, Afghanistan and now the obvious failure in Ukraine. McConnell’s the latest anti-Trump Republican to exploit the liberal press.
