Created to persecute 76-year-old former President Donald Trump one more time, the Jan. 6 House Select Committee has done nothing other than conduct the most biased hearing since Sen. Joseph McCarthy’s Communist-scare hearings and show trials in the 1950s. President Joe Biden, 79, couldn’t help but chime in on a fundraising trip to the West Coast, telling an audience in Portland, Oregon that the evidence against Trump was overwhelming. Biden knows that there’s no evidence or facts against Trump only cherry-picked testimony from Trump-hating politicians and former employees. If the public learned anything in the last year-and-half from the Select Committee, it’s that House Democrats and Trump-hating Republicans can abuse their Article 1 power to try to impeach Tromp on the same charges for a second time. Double-jeopardy is expressly prohibited by the U.S. Constitution.
To Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) and Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wy.) Trump is guilty as charged for planning and orchestrating the Jan. 6 capitol riots. Kinzinger and Cheney, and all the members of the Select Committee, have one goal in mind, preventing Trump from running in 2024. No exculpatory witnesses have been asked to testify only witnesses like 26-year-old Cassidy Hutichinson, former assistant to former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, testifying that Trump grabbed the steering wheel Jan. 6 from a Secret Service agent, demanding he be taken to the Capitol. Hutchinson wasn’t in the presidential limo but repeated second-hand hearsay to the Jan. 6 House Select Committee. Hutchinson’s testimony was considered a blockbuster, until former Secret Service Agent Tony Aranato, who was in the limo, threw cold water on Hutchinson’s story, all to discredit Trump.
When it comes to the Select Committee, all they want is gossip and innuendo, something that neither confirm or deny the charges. How convenient to only take testimony from anyone willing to discredit Trump. Kinzinger insists that the House Select Committee’s subpoena only requires Trump to come before the Congressional show trial. “We made a decision—in from of the American people, not behind closed doors—to begin the process of subpoenaing the former president. He is required by law to come in, and he can ramble and push back all he wants. That the requirement for a congressional subpoena, to come in,” Kinzinger said.. Kinzinger knows that members of the Committee would ask Trump questions forcing him to take the 5th, embarrassing him on national TV. Trump will not oblige Kinzinger or any other member on the Select Committee to testify on national TV.
Kinzinger and Cheney have personal vendettas with Trump, would do anything to prevent him from running in 2024. All Select Committee members think Trump should be indicted for orchestrating and planning the Jan. 6 Capitol riots. All the testimony heard from Trump-hating witnesses indicated that he was derelict in his duty on Jan. 6 to stop the Capitol rioters. Committee members all believe, especially Kinzinger and Cheney, that Trump could have stopped the riots by telling his “supporters” to stop. But recent FBI emails indicate that a sizable number of FBI agents actually backed the Jan. 6 rioters, largely because they wanted to send a message to Congress that you can’t give Black Lives Matter and other rioters a pass, while coming down like a tone of bricks on white rioters seen on Jan. 6. No BLM rioters were tried and convicted for anarchy in the summer of 2020.
Instead of the House Select Committee looking objectively at anarchy in America, they chose to go after white supremacist or national groups aligned with Trump’s MAGA movement. No one in the MAGA movement supported the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, yet Democrats routinely refer to rioters as “Trump supporters.” Whether they support Trump or not, that’s a far leap from concluding that Trump planned and orchestrated the riots. “I think that’s going to be a negotiation,” Kinzinger said, referring to any discussions with the Trump organization about Trump appearing before the House Select Committee. As a last resort, Kinzinger and other Select Committee Democrats hope to charge Trump with contempt of Congress if he doesn’t testify. Anything to get Trump charged by Attty. Gen. Merrick Garland would be OK with members on the Jan. 6 House Select Committee.
Jan. 6 House Select Committee has been the most prejudicial congressional hearings since the McCarthy era going after alleged Hollywood communists. Kinzinger presents Trump’s subpoena as no big deal, just show up an tell everyone they’re crazy or take the 5th to embarrass Trump on national TV. “We want to speak to the president. Look, he’s made it clear he has nothing to hide, is what he said. So he should come in on the day we asked him to come in if he pushed off beyond that, we’ll figure out what to do next,” Kinzinger said. Issuing a subpoena to Trump, the House Select Committee hopes, like they did with former Trump strategist Steve Bannon, to hit Trump with a Contempt of Congress citation. Kinzinger will never see Trump before his biased committee only interested in embarrassing the former president. History will show the Jan. 6 House Select Committee a political witch-hunt.
