Russia’s 72-year-old Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed what everyone knows about the Ukraine War that the Kremlin has its sights on security of Donetsk and Luhank, something 69-uear-old Russian President Vladimir Putin said over two months ago. Putin gave Ukraine’s 44-year-old President very clear conditions shortly after the war began Feb/ 24.. Putin told Zelensky recognize the independence of Donetsk and Luhansk and accept that Crimea as sovereign Russian territory. Zelensky categorically rejected Putin’s conditions even though Ukraine had no control over Donetsk and Luhansk and certainly not Crimea. Instead of coming to his senses after the Feb, 24 invasion, Zelensky proclaimed that Ukraine would not give up one inch of its sovereign territory. Zelensky had no sovereign control of Donetsk, Luhansk and Crimea, yet decided to engage the Russian Federation in a wasteful war.
Zelensky has been given $40 billion and unlimited lethal arms to fight the Russian Federation by 79-year-old President Joe Biden. So from the outset of the war, the conflict has morphed from preserving Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity to fighting a proxy war against the Russian Federation. Once it became clear that the war was between the U.S. and Russia, Russia put all its resources into the fight. Biden threw down the gauntlet, making Ukraine secondary to the U.S. toppling the Putin regime. Biden expressed openly in Warsaw, Poland March 26 that Putin could no longer remain in power. Once month later, Biden’s regime change policy in Moscow was confirmed by 68-year-old Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin April 26 saying in Ramstein, Germany that the aim of the Ukraine War was to degrade the Russian military to the point it could no longer wage war.
Lavrov confirmed that “liberation of Ukraine’s Donbass region is the Kremlin’s “uncondition priority,” something disputed by Zelensky, who’s been telling the world that Putin wants to take over all of Europe. Depending on the day, Zelensky tells the press that Putin perpetrates genocide, uses biological, chemical and nuclear weapons, deliberately promotes famine by block Ukraine’s grain shipments, attempts to destroy democracy in Europe, all designed to get more U.S. and NATO weapons to keep battling the Russian Federation. Had Zelensky negotiated with Putin two months ago, he would have spared Ukraine the widespread destruction, carnage and loss of more Ukrainian territory on the Black Sea coast. Both Russia and Ukraine used propaganda to justify their war. Putin and Lavrov said that Ukraine attacked Russian-speaking people in Donetsk and Luhansk..
Ukraine accuses Russia of committing war crimes in Ukraine, attacking hospitals,
pre-schools, day care centers and Holocaust memorials. Whether Zelensky and Biden admit it they are actively engaged in a war against the Russia Federation. So when it comes to limiting bomb damage assessment, Zelensky should consider de-escalating if he’s really interested in reducing the destruction and carnage. Yesterday Zelensky accused Russia of deliberately creating a famine catastrophe by blocking grain shipments from the port of Odessa. If Zelensky wants to return to business as usual, he needs to declare an unconditional ceasefire with the Russian Federation. Zelensky’s made every excuse why the Western Alliance should join the fight to save Ukraine, potentially starting WW III. Zelensky’s lost so much of Ukraine’s Black Sea coast, it leaves Kiev essentially land-locked.
No matter who’s right or wrong, the war has progressed to the point that Ukraine has lost so much territory, infrastructure and people that you’d think Zelensky would think twice about his strategy. Clearly, with U.S. backing, Zelensky thinks he can vanquish the Russian army, something so preposterous, it’s reckless. No matter how much arms he receives from the U.S., it’s only going to make matters worse for Ukraine, continuing a war destroying more infrastructure, carnage and losing more sovereign territory. When you think of Zelensky’s failures, most recently at the Azovstal Steelworks in Mariuopol, you’d think the Ukrainian parliament would demand he resigns. But as long as he takes $40 billion and unlimited arms from Biden, he’ll keep the fight going indefinitely, now matter what the cost to Ukraine. Zelensky and Biden must reassess the mission in Ukraine.
If Zelensky really wants to stop the destruction to Ukraine’s infrastructure, carnage and loss of sovereign territory, you’d think he’d move the war to Istanbul peace table. What does Ukraine possibly have to gain continuing the war against the Russian Federation? Over 6.7 million Ukrainians have fled for safe haven on other countries. “Yes people are being killed,” Lavrov said. “But the operation is taking so much time primarily because Russian soldiers taking par are under strict orders categorically to avoid attack and strikes on civilian infrastructure,” Lavrov said. Whether that’s true or not, Zelensky boasted he pushed Russia out of Kiev and Kharviv, highlighting Russian failures since the invasion began Feb. 24. When you look at the map of Russian-controlled territory, Putin has seized almost all of Ukraine’s strategic Black Sea coast, leaving Ukraine essentially land-locked. Going to the peace table is Zelensky only remaining option to save Ukraine.
