Showing that he doesn’t take the war seriously, 44-year-old Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave a video chat a the Cannes Film Festival in Nice, France, quoting from Francis Ford Coppola’s Vietnam epic “Apocalypse Now.” Zelensky cited the Robert Duval scene, saying, “I love the smell of Napalm in the morning,” referring to eccentric Col. Bill Kilgore ordering a Napalm strike before allowing his troops to catch some waves on a Vietnam surfing break. Hollywood’s fascination with Zelensky mirrors the White House marketing campaign, making the former TV comedian a war hero. But Zelensky has turned Ukraine into a rock pile, taking on the mighty Russian military, all because he refuses to cede any territory, land he didn’t have before the Feb. 24 start of the Ukraine War. Hollywood praised the Ukrainian fighters holed up in the Azovstal Steel Plant, taking a pounding from the Russian Army.

Zelensky compared Ukraine’s fighters in Azovstal to the Ancient Greek battle against Xerxes mighty Persian army, where 300 Spartans held them off against all odds. But as a result of Zelensky’s obsession with Hollywood movies, he’s allowed his country to be destroyed by the Russian army, all because he’s been used by the U.S. as a proxy fighting force for the White House. Zelensky and Biden claim great victories against the Russians, while watching Putin seize Ukraine’s Black Sea coast, calling Putin’s advances a failure because he chose not to seize Kiev. Speaking to filmmakers in Canne wins Zelensky approval from the movie industry but makes a mockery of his role as commander-in-chief. Zelensky has presided over the destruction of Ukraine, watching Ukraine’s biggest towns and cities reduced to rubble. Yet to Zelensky, he’s playing out the move, “300,” having zero to do with Ukraine.

Zelensky has so much war propaganda behind him, his entire country is duped into thinking he’s managing the war successfully. But what Zelensky doesn’t tell the U.S. or Ukrainian public is that the Kiev government is flat broke, relying 100% on the U.S. to pay its bills and fund the war. Instead of negotiating a quick end to the conflict, Zelensky drank Biden’s Cool-Aid that with U.S. arms Ukraine can defeat the Russian Federation. Biden thinks that his proxy war, using Ukrainian troops, can topple Putin’s grip on power. Kremlin officials understand well that they’re battling the U.S. in Ukraine, not really the Kiev government. Putin said the Kremlin can’t accept a puppet U.S. regime on the Russian border. But that’s exactly what they’re dealing with now, with the Ukrainian government bankrupt. Without U.S. cash, Ukraine would be in utter destitution battling the Russian Federation.

Making a joke about “Apocalypse Now” shows that Zelensky fights a video game while Ukraine’s infrastructure has been destroyed. He talks about Ukraine’s heroism but doesn’t think strategically what’s in the best interest of ordinary citizens. As the war stands today, Zelensky has lost to Putin almost the entire Black Sea coastline, leaving Ukraine land-locked. Where’s the great advances or victories of the Ukrainian military with all the latest U.S. weapons? Putin laid out clearly his demands to end the conflict over six weeks ago. Recognize the independence of Donetsk and Luhansk and accept the Crimean Peninsula as Russian territory. Zelensky and Biden rejected all Putin’s demands, now nearly eight weeks into the war. So when Zelensky decided to fight it out with Putin, he made a strategic decision to wreck much of Ukraine’s infrastructure, saying he won’t surrender one inch of land.

To seize back all the Black Sea coastline lost to the Kremlin, Zelensky would have to keep the war going for years, hoping that using U.S. weapons was enough to win the battle. Zelensky has avoided Istanbul because he knows he’d lose his face-saving way out, knowing that Russia controls most of Ukraine’s Black Sea Coast. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said yesterday that Russia had achieved almost all its objectives in Ukraine. Can the same thing be said for Ukraine? Looking at the latest map from the Washington-based Institute for the Study of War shows that Ukraine has lost most of its Black Sea coastline. Where’s Zelensky’s comparison to “Apocalypse Now” or “300,” when Ukraine has lost most of its costal territory? White House and media propagandists like to tell Ukraine it’s winning the battle against the Russian Federation but only in Kiev’s dreams.

Zelensky likes to tell the press about Russia’s devastating destruction of Ukraine but wants no part of any peace process. It’s easy to compare the Ukraine War to “Apocalypse Now” or “300” but difficult to face the tough choices of what to do to protect Ukraine’s infrastructure and civilians population. Starting the 13th week of war, Zelensky complains about destruction and carnage in Ukraine. If Zelensky really wanted to protect ordinary citizens or Ukraine’s infrastructure, he would have gone to Istanbul’s peace table and worked out a deal. What clear as day is that the war won’t be won with the military. Biden continues to pay for Ukraine’s government and war but it’s not doing anyone any good. Talking about conquering the Russian Federation shows how far out-of-touch with realty Zelensky has gone. He doesn’t want to talk about peace or compromise, he only wants to talk about victory.
