Expected mission creep in the Ukraine War has started to happen, with Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) saying today on CBS News “Face the Nation” the time as arrived for the U.S. and NATO to commit troops to Ukraine. Coons mirrors the relentless pressure from the White House and Democrat-friendly press to take off the gloves in Ukraine, confronting Russian President Vladimir Putin. President Joe Biden, 79, insisted he would not put U.S. boots on the ground or set up a no-fly-zone because it could cause WW III on the European Continent, possibly leading to nuclear war. But Biden has supplied Ukraine with unlimited lethal weapons and up to $16 billion in military aid, for all-intents and-purpose running the Ukraine War out of the White House. Russia Foreign Minister Sergey Lavron said the Kremlin views the Ukraine War as a war between the U.S. and Russian Federation.
So when it comes to Coons calling for the U.S. and NATO to send troop into Ukraine to stop Putin’s relentless air-and-ground war, the inevitable is starting to happen. Once thought as unthinkable since the end of WW II, war between Russia and the United States is a growing possibility. Coons should stick to domestic issues, like his nationwide civics project, rather than opine about foreign policy. Coons thinks Ukraine could deteriorate into Syira, where former President Barack Obama and his Vice President Joe Biden spent billions trying to topple Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad. Can you imagine Coons can get the situation so backwards, so upside down, where there is nothing similar about Ukraine because the U.S. paid billions to rebel groups, including al-Qaeda, to topple al-Assad’s regime. When Putin stepped in to save al-Assad in 2015, it threw a monkey wrench into Obama’s proxy war.
Yet Coons can’t see the distinction of the Ukraine War, comparing it to Syria, where the Obama White House funded the Syrian Civil War. Coons, of course, doesn’t admit that the Obama administration funded a proxy war that resulted in 500,000 deaths and some 15 million refugees, in the worst humanitarian crisis since WW II. Now Coons thinks the U.S. should fund-and-arm the Ukrainians to fight the Russian Federation, and now send U.S. troops to Ukraine to push out the Russian military. Coons said Putin has “shown how brutal he can be” to “just continue to massacre civilians, to commit war crimes throughout Ukraine,” Coons said, insisting the U.S. must do more to stop Putin. “I deeply worry that what’s going to happen next is we’ll see Ukraine turn into Syria,” showing his misguided understanding of Ukraine. There’s zero parallel between Ukraine and Syria.
Syria was a civil war where various rebel and terrorist groups sought to topple the Damascus government of Bashar al-Assad/ Obama joined the Turkey-Saudi funded insurgency, paying-and-arming various rebel groups to topple the Syrian government. Ukraine was not in the middle of a civil war before it was attacked by the Russian Federation Feb. 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin, 69, said he invaded Ukraine to demilitarize the country from massive U.S. and NATO weapons. Putin warned Biden Dec. 24 that if he didn’t take his demands for new security arrangements, he would take “military-technical measures” to de-fang Ukraine. Biden ignored Putin’s calls for news security arrangements prompting Putin to invade. Coons argues that it’s the American people’s duty to defend Ukraine because democracy in Europe and the Free World is now at stake in Ukraine.
Coons repeats one of the many excuses Ukraine’s 44-year-old President Volodymyr Zelensky gives to ask for U.S. troops and a no-fly-zone, despite risks of triggering WW III or a nuclear war on the European Continent. Not one European Union [EU] or NATO country has committed any troops in the last two months, precisely because they don’t want WW III playing out on the European Continent. “The American people cannot turn away from this tragedy in Ukraine,” Coons told “Face the Nation.” “I think the history of the 21 st history turns on how fiercely we defend freedom in Ukraine and that Putin will only stop when we stop him,” Coons said. Coons doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about. Biden has not explained to the American public why Ukraine has become a national security necessity to the United States. Coons says the U.S. must defend freedom in Ukraine.
U.S. Democrat-friendly press have pushed for U.S. boots on the ground, citing all the same excuses given by Zelensky. Zelensky insists Russia commits genocide in Ukraine, seeks to expand the old Soviet Union and destroy freedom in Europe. Yet Putin hasn’t invaded one NATO country, triggering Article 5, requiring the U.S. and NATO to intervene. Zelensky, under orders from the White House, decided to take on the Russian Federation, making wild claims that they are winning the war against Putin. Yet if you look at the bomb damage assessment in Ukaine, it’s in ruins, getting worse by the day. Why is Coons not advocating peace talks in Istanbul where it’s possible to get a ceasefire, if certain conditions are met? No, Coons calls for the unthinkable that U.S. teenagers should go to their graves in Ukraine to fight a battle that has no real national security significance to the U.S.
