Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), 58, continued to hammer 80-year-old National Institutes of Health [NIH] and Infections Disease Chief Dr. Anthony Fauci, resulting in a feisty exchange by the octogenarian, denying that he funded bat cornavirus research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology [WIV]. Fauci and other World Health Organization [WHO] scientists led by New York-based EcoHealth Alliance CEO Peter Daszak reject the lab-leak theory as the origin of the deadly novel coronavirus. While Fauci and 56-year-old WHO’s Chinese-sponsored Director-General Tedros Adhanom have spent 19-months denying that SARS CoV-2 originated naturally in Wuhan, China. Paul could not make the right connections in his grilling of Fauci, to nail the slippery NIH bureaucrat down on inconsistent statements made to the Senate Health, Education , Labor and Pensions Committee. So far, Fauci continues to frustrate Paul.
Paul wanted Fauci to retract a statement he made to the committee May 11, denying that he funded “gain-of-function” research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology where chief virologists Shi Zengli experimented on bat coronaviruses. Paul asked Fauci if he’d like to retract his May. 11 denial. “Fauci, as you are aware, it is a crime to lie to Congress,” Paul told Fauci. “I have not lied before Congress. I have never lied. Certianly not before Congress. Case closed,” Fauci said. Bit it’s not up to Fauci to say,
“case closed,” since Paul’s the one asking the questions. When Fauci said he has not lied “certainly before Congress,” it raises the question where else he’s lied about whether the NIH ever funded “gain-of-function” research at the WIV. Fauci funded Daszak’s EcoHealth Alliance to the tune of $15.1 million, $3.4 million of which went specifically to study bat coronaviruses.
Records show that EcoHealth Alliance gave Zhengli’s lab $600,000 where “gain-of-function” research took place with foreign scientists like Univ. of N. Carolina microbiologist Ralph Baric. Baric admitted to injecting harmless bat coronaviruses in Zhenli’s bioweapons lab with Angiotensin II [ACE2] a powerful blood pressure medicine that changed the coronavirus spike protein to easily infect humans. If that’s no “gain-of-function” research, then what is? Fauci told Paul he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, when it comes to “gain-of-function” research. Fauci was well aware that Zhengli’s WIV lab collaborated with 56-year-old Peoples Liberation Army [PLA] virologyist Chen Wei. Chinese President Xi Jinping dispatched Wei to Wuhan in Jan. 2020 to deal with the runaway novel coronavirus outbreak, dropping Wuhan residents like flies in Dec. 2019 and Jan. 2020.
Fauci got aggressive with Paul, suggesting at the very least, that Paul hit a raw nerve. “Senator Paul, you do not know what you are talking about, quite frankly, and I would like to say that officially. You do not know what your are talking about,” Fauci said, clearly rejecting, in the strongest possible terms that Fauci inadvertently funded the creation of the novel coronavirus. Fauci pretends he doesn’t now the history of the outbreak in China and reporting by the WHO. Fauci’s defensiveness went over the top, suggesting culpability. “No one is saying those viruses caused the pandemic. What we’re alleging is that gain of function research was done in that lab and NIH funding it. You can’t get away from it, it meets your definition and you are obfuscating the truth.” Paul said. Yes, people are actually saying that the engineered viruses out of Zhengli’s bioweapons lab caused the pandemic.
Fauci’s highly defensive response to Paul exposes his culpability in indirectly funding, through Daszak’s EcoHealth Alliance, “gain-of-function” research at Zhengli’s WIV bioweapons’ lab. “You are implying that what we did resulted in the deaths of individuals,” Fauci responded, pointing his finger at Paul. “I totally resent that, and if anyone is lying here, senator, it is you.” Paul should have called Fauci out to explain Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhao Lijian who said March 13, 2020 and again May 26, 2021 that the deadly novel coronavirus was made at Fort Detrick, Maryland’s bioweapons’ lab, then planted in Wuhan by the U.S. military. Fauci has not commented on Lijian’s statement because he backs the Chinese Communist Party [CCP] that the virus originated naturally in Wuhan. Lijian’s statements prove that CCP will do anything do deny the lab-leak theory.
Fauci’s exposed for all to see his extreme defensiveness over the very real possibility that NIH funding through Daszak’s EcoHealth Allinace went into “gain-of-function” research at Zhengli’s bioweapons’lab. When PLA virologist Chen Wei collaborates with Zhengli, her lab becomes of military lab. Fauci has never commented on Lijian’s outrageous lie that the U.S. military created and planted the virus in Wuhan because he knows that it undermines the CCP, WHO and his case that the virus occurred naturally. Fauci has no data to assert that the virus occurred naturally. He knows about Zhengli’s research with Dr. Ralph Baric injecting harmless bat coornaviruses with ACE2 to change the spike protein to infect humans. If that’s not “gain-of-function” research then what is? Fauci’s aggressive assault on Paul shows that he hit a raw nerve when it comes to who created the deadly novel coronavirus.
