Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Ut.), 74, repeated a worn-out slogans reprised from his failed 2012 presidential campaign that China represents the biggest threat to the U.S. in terms of its economy and military. Speaking to Democrat-run CNN, Romney repeated the same nonsense, filling up programming with more idle warnings. Romney still likes grabbing the headlines, appearing as regular for the last four years slamming 75-year-old former President Donald Trump for just about everything. Romney subscribes to the enemy-of-my-enemy-is-my-friend, joining forces with left wing new outlets to rip Trump, working day-and-night to prevent Trump from a second term. Guess Romney’s hard work paid off. But Utah is left with an enemy of the Republican Party whose various domestic and foreign policy positions seems to mirror those of his Democrat Senate colleagues.
When it comes to China, Romney liked what Biden did in his first get-to-know-you summit with China in Anchorage, Alaska. Hosted by 58-year-old Secretary of State Antony Blinken and 44-year-old National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, they both accused China of genocide against Muslim Uyghurs in Western China. Romney likes seeing the two Biden neophytes alienate China, especially on its aggressive actions in Xinjiang province, Hong Kong and the Taiwan Strait. While there’s no question that China likes to flex its muscles in the Pacific Rim, China has a more defensive approach to foreign policy, as it bullies its Asian neighbors. Biden puts the U.S. into unknown territory, agreeing with the politically correct crowd accusing the U.S. of “systemic racism,” something preached by groups like Black Lives Matter. Biden was forced to eat his words at the Anchorage summit.
China’s senior diplomats led by Yang Jiechi bristled at Blinken and Sullivan’s accusations of genocide against Muslim Uyghurs, pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong and the independence of Taiwan. Jiechi flat out told Sullivan and Blinken that the U.S. was in no position to lecture Beijing on human right abuses with the U.S. long history of racism against African Americans and other groups like Native Americans. Once Biden admitted to “systemic racism,” he changed the game for U.S. foreign policy to advocate for human rights. “The real challenge is not just Russia poking a stick in our eye every chance they have, but the emergence of China, which is on tract to become the most powerful economy in the world and the most powerful military in the world,” Romney said, all stating the obvious. But as Trump found out, re-negotiating trade deals with China isn’t easy.
Biden’s approach with China, accusing Beijing or human right abuses, has already backfired with U.S. European allies. No one in Europe, with all the post-pandemic economic woes, wants to take on China, or, for that matter, the Russian Federation. Biden became so hostile to China and Russia over the first six months of his presidency that he scared of U.S. allies. Insulting 68-year-old Russian President Vladimir Putin March 16, calling Putin a “soulless killer,” the European Union had enough. Biden came to office anointing himself, after Trump, as the leader of the “Free World.” EU leaders, led by 62-year-old European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told Joe, “no thanks.” Romney new pronouncement to CNN that China, not Russia, represents the biggest threat to the U.S. is something he repeated numerous time while campaigning in 2012 against former President Barack Obama.
Biden did an abrupt about-face when he met with Putin June 16 in a Geneva summit, pulling back the vitriol and trying to get along. But with cyber attacks shutting down key U.S. oil pipelines and the meatpacking industry, there’s plenty of ongoing problems the U.S. faces with the Russian Federation. Biden hoped when he me at the G7 in Carbis Bay, U.K. June 10-12, that he’d rally the Western Alliance against China and the Russia. He found out quickly that the G7 wants no part of Biden’s coalition against Russia and China. EU officials, not to mention others in Asia and Africa, want cooperative business ties with Russia and China, not a new Cold War. Biden started his presidency thinking he could star a new Cold War and lead the Western alliance against Russia and China. Biden forgot that the EU buys about 40% of its energy, oil and naturally gas, from Russia,
Romney’s repeats old campaign slogans to CNN that package his comments as news, showing how CNN is nothing more than an entertainment outlet pretending to report news. “China’s effort to play a more assertive role in international bodies has to be pushed back or, in some cases, eliminated,” Romney told CNN. What foreign power or coalition is willing to take on China or the Russian Federation? “China is doing a lot of very bad things,” Romney said, revealing for all to see how he plays into CNN’s fake news. “And the entire world needs to come to recognize what they’re doing and to say, Look, that is not going to stand. We will not allow you to play the kind of dominant role you want to have on the world stage, while you’re carrying out these kinds of atrocities,” Romney told CNN. What utter rubbish that Romney thinks Biden should lead a global coalition against China. Romney’s statements sound like they come from someone suffering from senile dementia.
