Abandoning the Trump ship long ago, the so-called conservative news aggregator Matt Drudge has followed the rats off a sinking ship for some time. While Drudge didn’t join Bill Kristol’s anti-Trump Lincoln Project, he hasn’t been on the Trump train for along time, maybe, to be truthful, never was. Headliningg the Drudge Report since Saturday, Nov. 8, the day the media declared 77-year-old Joe Biden the winner of the 2020 presidential race, ‘YOU’RE FIRED!,” topped the Drudge Report headlines. Drudge’s headline, of course, paraphrases, Trump famous line from his former reality TV show, “The Apprentice,” where Trump routinely told participants, “You’re Fired!” Biden’s big win over Trump stunned the media establishment, universally against Trump Never before in U.S. media history has the press taken conspicuous sides.
One upon a time, there was a fig leaf in U.S. journalism that the press maintained neutrality when it came to politics, keeping newsrooms free of contamination from political parties. It wasn’t that long ago in 2004, when CBS “Nightly News” venerable anchor Dan Rather was fired for letting the Democrat Party inside the CBS Newsroom. Former CBS President Les Moonves had no problem firing Rather for allowing his producer Mary Mapes to conspire with former Sen. Max Cleland (D-Ga.), who, at the time, worked for the campaign of Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.). When Rather presented a fake military discharge report of former President George W. Bush, he was eventually fired. No one in today’s newsrooms thinks twice about allowing the Democrat Party to infiltrate the newsrooms to back Joe Biden in 2020.
Media bias has been researched to death since Harvard University came up with its study in 2017, proving the media was 95% negative against Trump Harvards findings were corroborated again in 2020 by the Media Research Center indicating the media was 96% biased against Trump. Drudge joined the mainstream press in blackballing an explosive New York Post story that showed proof Joe Biden was involved with his 50-year-old son Hunter’s business dealings in China, Ukraine and Russia, neeting the Biden family millions of dollars. Drudge didn’t aggregate much news from the New York Post, Washington Examiner and other right wing outletss like Fox News and NewsMax that ran the story. Had the mainstream covered the story, it’s possible enough voters would not have voted for Biden.
Drudge was among the first Websites to post the headline, “THE WORLD HAS MOVED ON,” indicating the the public accepts by 80% Biden’s Nov. 3 win. Trump’s trying to fight in the courts, largely without proof that massive voter fraud took place, changing the outcome of the Nov. 3 election. When Georgia announced it would conduct a recount, despite Joe winning the state by about 14,000 votes, it looks like a colossal waste of time. Since losing the election, Trump looks like a different person, lacking the energy or charisma that launched his campaign in 2016. Whether Drudge played a part in Trump’s rise in 2016 is anyone’s guess. After networks declared Biden the winner, Trump looks like a defeated person. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), like other GOP elected officials, have cut Trump some slack for a few weeks.
Whatever happened in the 2020 election, Trump’s been floored by the results, thinking he had a shot like 2016 of pulling the upset. But it looks like universal mail-in ballots did him in, not because of fraud but because of the numerical registration advantage enjoyed by Democrats and independents. Trump’s topsy-turvy approach to governing grew old for voters trying to deal with the Covid-19 crisis that isn’t likely to go away with Biden in the White House. One of Joe’s new Covid-19 task force members Dr. Michael Osterholm from the University of Minnesota now advises him to lock down the country. When Wall Street heard that today, markets went into a tailspin. With Biden now President-elect, they’ll find out soon that he has no magic wand when it comes to Covid-19, leaving the country in even more chaos.
When the New York Times starts praising Matt Drudge, you know the country’s in deep trouble, with media disinformation completely out of control. Trump lost the election because he tried and failed to run against Biden and the mainstream press. With no pretense left about media bias, the mainstream press led by the New York Times now joins forces with anyone willing to denounce Trump. Drudge never liked Trump in the first place, let alone after the Republican Party went after Trump with a vengeance. Democrats and the press got what they wanted to prevent Trump from a second term. Now they have much bigger problems if Biden’s technocrat-run presidency winds up tanking the economy without any end in sight. Whatever euphoria’s left from the election, reality is about to kick in when it comes to the economy and foreign policy.
