Accusing 74-year-old President Trump of denigrating American WW I war-dead in France June 10, 2018, no one from the anti-Trump press asked why the incendiary remarks would it come out over two years later, less than two months before the Nov. 3 presidential election. Written Sept. 3 by Jeffrey Goldberg in the left-leaning Atlantic Magazine, the articles said unnamed military sources claim Trump referred to the WW I war dead as “losers” and ‘suckers.” Atlantic Magazine has no journalistic ethics when it comes to writing hit pieces especially against Trump. Atlantic and other liberal publications spent the last four years writing articles accusing the president of collusion with Russia to win the 2016 presidential election. Many articles insisted, without evidence, Trump worked behind the scenes with Russia to sabotage 72-year-old former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

No one on Atlantic’s editorial board ever questioned the veracity of articles linking Trump to the Kremlin. Now, two years after the fact, Goldberg claims his Pentagon sources claim Trump called U.S. military war dead “losers” and “suckers,” something so preposterous, it’s laughable. Where were the general two years ago when Trump allegedly made his remarks. You know the story was pure fake news when Trump’s remarks took over two years to surface. Then, the story morphs to Trump removing items from the French ambassador’s home during the same trip. If your story loses traction, the fake news comes up with another equally insulting story, though removing antiques is hardly the same as making disparaging comments about WWI war-dead. Trump began to expose why the military has it in for him, the Pentagon’s quest for endless wars.

Trump’s been the most anti-war president on record, opposing most foreign wars over the last 40 years. Explaining why Pentagon brass doesn’t care for him in contrast to the rank-and-file, Trump explains he’s not backing the foreign wars that win lucrative contracts to America’s defense industry. Looking forward to comparing his record against former Vice President Joe Biden, Trump wants voters to know his rival supported the Iraq War, masterminded with former President Barack Obama toppling Col. Muammar Gaddafi. Biden certainly hasn’t talked about he and Obama’s backing of the eight-year Saudi proxy war to topple Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. While Democrats would like to accuse Trump of war mongering, they can’t point to anything close over his first term. With Biden, on the other hand, Democrats want to avoid the discussion, just like they do nationwide street violence.

Hitting Trump with accusations that he made disparaging remarks about America war-dead was strangely reminiscent of charges made by Hillary four years ago. Back then, she accused Trump of disparaging comments about Gold Star family of Khizr Khan whose son Humayun was killed in the Iraq Wars in 2004. Khizr Khan became an integral part of Hillary’s 2016 campaign, often appearing with Khizr at campagn stops and DNC convention. While Khizr came forward accusing Trump of things he never said, no one has stepped forward to own accusations that he called American war-dead “losers” and “suckers.” No one has come forward from the Pentagon because Trump never made such statements. If he did, you would have heard about them two years ago when he attended the centennial of the end of WW I. Yet the anti-Trump media has run with the fake story.

As the 2020 race tightens, the problem for Democrats is that Biden really did support a whole raft of foreign wars and bad trade deals. When Biden debates Trump at the end September, he’s going to be hit with a 47-year-old record of supporting various U.S. foreign wars. Biden prides himself on his foreign policy chops but any careful look at his votes or decisions show he backs many foreign wars. Trump has been clear that the U.S. should not be funding-or-fighting foreign wars around the globe, especially when they have no national security significance to the United States. Trump placed many four-star generals in key posts in this administration, eventually having a falling out with most of them. Trump’s relationship with his 69-year-old former Defense Secretary Gen. James Mattis and 70-year-old former Chief of Staff Gen. John Kelly turned particularly bitter after they were fired.

Unless a member of the Pentagon alleging that Trump called American war-dead “losers” and “suckers,” the Atlantic story will be another political hit job, all too common in today’s media. Fox News’ 51-year-old Pentagon correspondent Jennifer Griffin confirmed “her sources” corroborate what Goldberg said in his article accusing Trump of denigrating U.S. war-dead. But unless Goldberg or Griffin can cite one of their sources, the whole matter falls into the category of fake news. More fabrications based on anonymous or unknown sources, something no ethical journalist would do unless they actually work for a political party. “The story is a hoax,” Trump said, much like he said about the Russian hoax. “Who would say a thing like that? Only an animal would say a thing like that,” Trump said, refuting Goldberg’s fake story, exposing the deteriorated state of American journalism.
