Caught with her pants down, so to speak, getting a quick wash-and-blow-dry at her neighborhood hair salon, 80-yer-old House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claims she was ”set-up” by the salon owner, claiming she didn’t know it violated the California Covid-19 ban on barbershops and beauty parlors Pelosi got her wash-and-blow-dry Tuesday, Sept. 1, ironically only two days before 48-year-old Calif. Gov. released the statewide ban on hair salons and barbershops. Pelosi found herself all over the Internet, with viral videos and snapshot appearing on all the social network platforms, especially Facebook and Twitter. Pelosi said she was “set-up” by eSalon owner Erica Kious, telling her the salon was scheduling private one-on-one appointments consistent with state regulations. Looking at Pelosi’s wet head without a mask made great Internet copy, especially for Republicans.
Pelosi’s minor infraction, less than a parking ticket, opens up can of worms for Democrats trying to explain how the highly experienced House Speaker could be duped by a lowly salon owner. Ms. Kious took special interest in the appointment during this telephone call, wherein she made several vitriolic and incendiary comments about Speaker Pelosi and her purported responsibility for temporarily suspending operations of Ms Kous business . . “ read a lengthy statement by the stylist, Jonathan DeNardo who worked on Nancy. DeNardo implied that Kious wanted the business because she get her cut for the procedure. DeNardo, who may not work for eSalon much longer, denounced Kious for violating the State and San Francisco Covid-19 ban DeNardo claims Kious is seen on video or pics “ignoring social distancing guidelines, and no wearring protective equipment . . .{“ said DeNardo.
Republicans jumped all the over the story thinking they’d score points before the Nov. 3 election only two months away. When you think about it, Pelosi was guilty of the same fudging going on all over the country when it comes to hair and nail salons, shutting down in the Covid-19 hysteria sweeping the country. “Crazy Nancy Pelosi said she was “set-up” by the beauty parlor owner when she improperly had the salon opened (and didn’t wear a MASK!” Trump tweeted. :Does anyone want a Speaker of the House who can be easily SET UP?” Trump asked. Whether Pelosi gamed the system or not, it shows nothing other than a vain person wanting to get their hair done. Trump doesn’t have much forgiveness for Democrats who routinely scrutinizes every word to make him look bad, whether it’s eating McDonald’s “Big Macs” or getting a routine medical check up.
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany made a big deal out of Pelosi’s wash-and-blow-dry. “Apparently, the rules do not apply to Speaker Nancy Pelosi,” Kayleigh said. “She wants small businesses to stay shut down but only reopen for her convenience,” all true tbut making a mountain-out-a-molehill. Whether Pelosi embarrassed herself or not, there’s a risk in piling on where it’s not warranted, especially over something so trivial. It’s not like the PPP program where she and her husband were caught directing funds to Control Data Corp., a company they held stock in. Getting your toenails painted or hair washed is hardly something the GOP should be focused on. If you listened to McEnanay, Pelosi was guilty of high-crimes-and-misdemeanors. If McEnany wants to get on Pelosi’s case because of stalled relief bill negotiations that’s another story.
Getting back on track, MeEnany laid the blame for the stalled relief bill at Pelosi’s feet. “Nancy Pelosi is holding up $1.3 trillion in relief for the American people while getting special access to the very kind of small businesses this money would support—businesses like this hair salon,” McEnany said. Talking about the stalled stimulus bill or Pelosi’s support for rioters, looters, arsonists and anarchists is fair game for the GOP, trying to make their case to voters. Making their case about the octogenarian getting her hair done sounds like hypocrisy but it’s actually looks like trivializing the presidential election. Republicans would make more hay focusing on Pelosi’s refusal to negotiate a new stimulus bill in good faith knowing that Wall Street can’t hold up indefinitely without selling off. Whether or not Pelosi says she was “set up” makes no difference to voters.
Trump looks like he’s moved on from Pelosi’s mishap while McEnany keeps piling on . “Nancy Pelosi is demanding an apology from a single mother and small business owner who has received threats since Nancy Pelosi’s comments against her salon,” said Kaleigh. White House strategists look for any way to repay Pelosi for spending the last four years accusing Trump of committing high-crimes-and-misdemeanors related to former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s wild allegations about Trump’s Russian ties. Since 75-year-old Special Counsel Robert Mueller found no Trump ties to Russia March 23, 2019, Pelosi has led the charge to find anything else impeachable, resulting in the failed impeachment hearings. McEnany should be given some new talking points, forgetting about a tabloid-like story that’s bound to backfire on voters looking for something real.
