Appearing more and more in the 2020 presidential campaign, 58-year-old former Presdient Barack Obama has become 77-year-old Democrat presumptive nominee former Vice President Joe Biden’s personal surrogate.. Obama’s put on a pedestal by the Democrat Party, especially African Americans, now becomes Biden’s chief mouthpiece, making the 2020 election about restoring the Obama legacy. While despised by Republicans, Democrats feel the exact opposite about the nation’s first African American president, despite the fact that Obama’s ancestry are not descendants of slaves. Yet, like 55-year-old Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), considered the front-runner for Biden’s VP pck, Obama’s adopted by the African American community. Kamala’s ancestors are from India and Jamaica, also not from U.S. slaves. But, whatever his ancestry, Obama remains popular with Democrats.
Putting Obama front-and-center in the 2020 campaign exposes Biden to some real risks, especially if Republicans make the case that Obama ordered FBI’s counterintelligence investigation into Trump’s alleged Russian ties. While there were no Russian ties, Obama’s White House, FBI, Justice Department, National Security Agency, State Department and other agencies used the nation’s most powerful agencies to undermine the Trump campaign. Putting Obama in the headlines exposes him for the first time to what happened during end of his presidency: That he investigated Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn. If anyone remembers the 2016 transition, they’ll recall Obama kicking out of the U.S. 35 Russian diplomats Dec. 31, 2016 for meddling in the 2016 presidential election. President-elect 73-year-old Donald Trump was concerned about the deteriorating relationship with Moscow.
When Trump named 61-year-old Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn as National Security Adviser, Obama objected, telling Trump not to hire Flynn. Flynn served as Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency [DIA] for Obama July 24, 2012 to Aug. 7, 2014, eventually not getting renewed by Obama. Whatever the bad blood with Obama, recently declassified records show that Obama met with his Cabinet Jan. 5, 2017, two weeks before leaving office, to discuss investigating Flynn. Former 77-year-old Vice President Joe Biden denied to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos May 12 that he knew anything about Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn. Biden was at the same meeting as former FBI Director James Comey, former National Security Adviser Susan Rice, former Atty. Gen. Loretta Lynch, former Deputy Atty. Sally Yates, former CIA Director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.
Biden told Stephanopoulos he has no recollection of the Obama White House counterintelligence investigation into Trump, his former campaign officials or former National Security Adviser Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn. Once Trump was sworn in Jan. 20, 2017, it took Comey four days to send former disgraced FBI Agent Peter Strzok and Agent Joe Pientko to the White House to interview Flynn without any notice. Why Flynn talked with the agents is anyone’s guess. But Strzok and Pientko came with secretly recorded phone calls of Flynn and former Russian Amb. Sergey Kislyak. Flynn told Strzok and P:ientko he had no contacts with the Russian government during the transition period. After Comey was fired by Trump May 9, 2017 and former FBI Director Robert Mueller was appointed Special Counsel, May 17, 2017, it took Mueller until Dec. 1, 2017 to indict Flynn for lying to FBI Agents.
Flynn’s case was eventually dismissed by Atty. Gen. Bill Barr May 8, prompting objections from Obama, saying it threatened the rule of law. But Barr looked closely at the illegal counterintelligence investigation into Trump, his campaign and Flynn, where the FBI used former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s paid opposition research AKA the “Steele Dossier,” to predicate his investigation and charges against Flynn. Barr determined after a careful review of Flynn’s case by U.S. Atty. Jeff Jensen from St. Louis, that Flynn’s case was not properly predicated, therefore statements given to FBI agents were not valid. Obama, members of his Cabinet and Biden are 100% invested in attacking Barr for his investigation into improper activity by Obama, his Cabinet and former White House staff investigating Trump. Democrats have called for Mueller to step up and defend his 22-month, $40 million investigation.
Mueller knows that there’s nothing to defend. He gave his Final Report March 23, 2019 clearing Trump or his campaign of conspiring with Russia to meddle in the 2016 presidential election. Mueller knows that his own investigation was not properly predicated because the facts used to investigate Trump and his campaign, the Steele Dossier, were Russian disinformation and outright lies about Trump and his campaign. Obama’s emergence as a surrogate for Biden makes sense politically because when Biden speaks he raises more doubts about his fitness for duty. Yet when Obama speaks he opens himself up to his involvement authorizing an illegal counterintelligence investigation to undermine Trump’s 2016 campaign. Trump has called Obama’s involvement the biggest crime in U.S. history. Bringing Obama onboard opens up a can of worms for Democrats.
