With battle lines drawn, Democrats and Republicans wait for the final verdict from the FBI on President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Responding to sexual; assault accusations by Christine Blasey-Ford, Deborah Ramirez and Julie Swetnick, a bitterly divided Washington has long made up its mind, finding Kavanaugh guilty without a shred of corroborating evidence, other than Blasey-Ford’s personal testimony Sept. 27 in the Senate Judiciary Committee. While Kavanaugh’s denied all the accuser’s sexual assault claims, Democrats state they believe wholeheartedly that Blasey-Ford was telling the truth of her alleged 1982 incident in which she claims a 17-year-old Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her at summertime party, though not one witness cited by Blasey-Ford recalls the event. Yet Democrats believe Blasey Ford over the former D.C. Appellate Court Judge
Since Trump nominated Kavanaugh July 9, Democrats have gone on the record saying they’d do anything to stop him from joining the High Court. There’s no doubt with Democrats that Kavanaugh’s guilty as charged. Fence-sitting Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee, including Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Az.), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Susan Collins (R-Maine.), expressed dismay at Trump’s remarks of Blasey-Ford at yesterday’s a rally in Southhaven, Miss.. “How did you get home? I don’t remember,” said Trump referring the Blasey-Ford. “How did you get there? I don’t remember. Where is the place? I don’t remember. How many years ago was it? I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know. What neighborhood was in? I don’t know. Where’s the House? I don’t know. Upstairs, downstairs, where was it? I know. But I had a beer, that‘s the only thing I remember.”
Democrats and the media objected wildly to Trump calling into question Blasey-Ford’s testimony, despite the obvious lack of specificity to her statements. Maricopa County sex crimes prosecutor, who questioned Blasey-Ford Sept. 27 for the GOP side of the Judiciary Committee, Rachel Mitchell said she would not have brought charges against Kavanaugh. Yet Democrats are so convinced without any proof about the accuracy of Blasey-Ford’s testimony against Kavanaugh. Democrats and Republicans could not be more partisan about Blasey-Ford’s testimony for the obvious reasons. Democrats have one objective in mind: Preventing Kavanaugh from appointed to the Supreme Court. If it takes uncorroborated testimony to torpedo Kavanaugh’s nomination, so be it. If Mitchell says her testimony does not pass muster, why are Democrats sot gung-ho for her testimony?
Democrats know that Kavanaugh lying about Blasey-Ford’s sex crimes allegations disqualifies him from the Supreme Court. So the truth doesn’t matter, only guilt by association. Most stories in the media since their Sept. 27 testimony highlight Kavanaugh’s alleged drinking episodes in high school and at Yale, all suggesting he was capable of sexual assault. Not one article questioned Blasey-Ford’s testimony, accepting it a gospel, despite questioning everything Kavanuagh said. Flake, Collins and Murkowski all complained about Trump questioning Blasey-Ford’s testimony, saying the president mocked her. “A man’s life is in tatters. A man’s life is shattered, “ Trump said of Kavanaugh. “His wife is shattered. His daughters—who are beautiful, incredible young kids—they destroy people, they want to destroy people. These are really evil people,” Trump said, referring to Democrats and the press.
Hoping that Trump’s comments turn off Flake, Murkowski and Collins, Democrats and press pray the three senators vote against Kavanaugh, whatever the FBI says. Waiting for the report, the press has gone wild, trying to find more support to vote against Kavanaugh. Hanging on every word from Flake, Collins and Murkowski, the press can only wait-and-see what happens with the FBI’s week-long background check. “The president was stating the facts,” said White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Huckabee-Sanders defended Trump against the press’s condemnation for saying anything against Blasey-Ford. With today’s bitterly divided atmosphere in Washington, all that matters is winning, not the truth. There’s nothing the FBI can say to Democrats to back Kavanaugh, even if Blasey-Ford’s shown to suffer from “false memory syndrome”
