Sitting in the House Judiciary Committee hot seat, 53-year-old Deputy Atty. Gen Rod Rosenstein fended off questions by Republicans angry over not receiving requested documents related to former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s email investigation and President Donald Trump’s alleged Russian collusion probe. Republicans members of the House Intelligence and Judiciary Committees have not received subpoenaed documents from the FBI and Justice Department. Rosenstein became a hero to Democrats after he appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller as Special Counsel May 17, 2017. Democrats accuse Trump of colluding with the Kremlin to win the 2016 election. Mueller’s probe validates Hillary’s old campaign smear in the presidential debates that Trump was a “Putin puppet,” warning voters that the New York billionaire was controlled by the Kremlin.
Democrats and their friends in the press dismiss the GOP’s concerns about not receiving requested FBI and Justice Department documents proving that the Mueller investigation into alleged Trump collusion was a political witch hunt. Democrats have been successful till now in suppressing Trump’s approval ratings by accusing him of Russian collusion. Republicans want to show that former President Barack Obama’s FBI, Justice Department and National Security Agency [NSA] were all exploited to help Hillary get elected. House Judiciary Committee member Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.).asked that the Mueller probe end because of a lack of evidence. Mueller hasn’t been able to charge Trump with Russian collusion or anything alleged by Democrats. Mueller’s only indictments have nothing to do with the campaign, focusing on bad actors some 10 years before the 2016 campaign.
Democrats want to establish Trump’s guilt without any evidence, often citing the unverified Christopher Steele “dossier,” Hillary’s paid campaign research designed to discredit the Trump campaign. Democrats and their media friends have touted the Steele “dossier” as proof of Trump’s Russian collusion, but, more importantly, validating Hillary’s argument that Trump was elected illegitimately. Today’s Associated Press report analyzing the Steele dossier showed that much of it was fabricated political opposition research paid by the Hillary campaign. ”Russia isn’t being hurt by this investigation right now—we are,” said Gowdy, telling Mueller to put-up-or-shut-up with regard to damaging evidence against Trump. “If you have any evidence against the Trump campaign, present it to the damn grand jury,” said Gowdy, urging Mueller to either present his case or conclude the investigation.
Democrats only want to lend legitimacy to the Mueller probe when they know the unscrupulous activity that went on at the FBI, DOJ and NSA.. Former National Security Adviser Susan Rice admitted under oath Sept.6, 2017 to the House Intelligence Committee she “umasked” Trump campaign officials for suspicious activity. Under direction of former Atty. Gen. Loretta Lynch, Rice unasked conversations between former Russian Amb. Sergei Kislyak and former National Security Adviser Gen. Michael Flynn and Atty. Gen. Jeff Sessions. Rice couldn’t explain why she was part of an investigation into Trump campaign officials. But Gowdy and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) want documents from the FBI, DOJ and NSA of whom authorized the investigation into the Trump campaign. Gowdy and Jordan got testy with Rosenstein today in the House Judiciary Committee.
Jordan wants to know why the FBI, DOJ and NSA hasn’t complied with the House committees’ requested documents. While Democrats seek to prove the legitimacy of Hillary’s paid opposition research AKA “the dossier,” Gowdy and Jordan want to show that the FBI, DOJ and NSA used “the dossier” as probable cause to get warrants from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act [FISA] Court to wiretap or “unmask” Trump campaign officials. Democrats and their media friends insist on the legitimacy of the Steele dossier after AP discredited the report’s contents. “Why did you hide the fact that [former FBI agent] Peter Strzok and Judge [Randolf] Contreras were friends. Why did you redact that in the documents you gave us,” Jordan asked Rosenstein. Rosenstein reacted defensively, saying don’t blame me because I’m the Deputy AG, not the one doing the redacting.
Democrats have staked their credibility on the Steele dossier, used, in large part, to justify going to the FISA Court to seek warrants to wiretap Trump campaign officials. While Democrats point fingers at Trump for obstructing justice firing former FBI Director James Comey May 9, 2017, Rosenstein wrote May 10 the three-page letter justifying Comey’s firing. When the DOJ’s Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report came out June 14, it gave Rosenstein’s reasons for firing Comey. Democrats lost another bogus charge that Trump obstructed justice firing Comey. Horowitz said Comey breached DOJ protocol and was “insubordinate” dealing with the Hillary email investigation. When Rosenstein said today he wasn’t the one doing the “redacting,” he admitted that redacting was done with DOJ documents. Republicans inch ever closer to implicating Obama in wiretapping Trump in the 2016 campaign.
