When the Associated Press [AP] reported yesterday that the infamous Trump dossier was opposition research paid by the campaign of former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, the media groaned. Since July 2016, the Fusion GPS document produced by former MI6 agent Christopher Steele was known last summer as paid opposition research designed to discredit candidate Donald Trump before the Nov. 8, 2016 election. Contained in the document were bogus claims about Trump’s sexual mischief in Russia with prostitutes, not to mention collusion with the Russian government to win the 2016 presidential election. While nothing in the dossier was verified, it didn’t stop former FBI Director James Comey from using the dossier to justify wiretapping Trump campaign officials. Using bogus probable cause to justify wiretaps, Comey abused his authority as FBI director.
Given to the FBI in Aug. 2016 by Trump-detractor Sen. John McCain (R-Az.), Comey used the fabricated dossier to go to the Federal Intelligence Surveillance Act Court to obtain a warrant to wiretap Trump campaign officials. Hillary’s campaign, led by former campaign chairman John D. Podesta, used the dossier for anti-Trump campaign rallies and presidential debates, making the case that Trump was a Russian puppet, unfit for the presidency. When the last debate occurred in Las Vegas Oct. 19, 2016, Hillary said that Trump was a puppet of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Since that last debate, the mainstream press, without any real facts, has pushed the narrative, spreading Russian hysteria on Capitol Hill. Trump’s maintained consistently that Russian influence in the 2016 election was grossly overblown, leading to numerous fake news stories.
Calling the real Russian scandal that the Hillary campaign paid for the Trump dossier and covered it up, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders called out the press. “Clinton campaign paid for the fake Russia dossier, then lied about it & covered it up,” tweeted Sanders. None of the mainstream print and broadcast outlets identified the dossier as Hillary’s paid opposition research, revealing the media’s extreme anti-Trump bias. Washington Post reported yesterday that Marc E. Elias, a Hillary campaign lawyers, retained Washington-based Fusion GPS to produce the dossier. Paying Fusion GPS through October 2016, the Hillary campaign and Democratic National Committee did everything possible to discredit Trump. No credentialed news organization questioned the dossier until the AP reported yesterday it was paid by Hillary and the DNC.
Speaking today to CNN, House Intelligence Committee co-chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) insisted paid opposition research can be accurate. Schiff’s been the leading partisan hack against Trump on Capitol Hill, insisting the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians to win the election. Not a shred of evidence has turned up to link the Trump campaign to the Russians, despite Schiff’s insistence that Special Counsel former FBI Director Robert Mueller is nearing a breakthrough. “I understand they paid a tremendous amount of money,” said Trump about the dossier. “And Hillary Clinton always denied it. The Democrats always denied it and now only because it’s going to come out in a court case did they say, yes, they did it, they admitted it and they’re embarrassed by it . . .” said Trump. Using the dossier to get warrants from the FISA Court, shows how Comey abused his office.
When you consider that Comey refused to say where he got probable cause to go to the FISA Court for warrants on Trump campaign officials, it’s the most abusive use of the FISA court in recent memory. “It’s very sad commentary on politics in this country,” said Trump, not realizing the implications for Comey and the FBI. It’s one thing for Democrats and the anti-Trump press to use bogus intel against Trump, it’s another to let the FBI use fake facts to justify wiretaps against the Trump campaign. Overlooked today in the mainstream press, the Hillary-paid dossier shows how desperate Democrats and the press were to score points against Trump. What’s inexcusable is how the nation’s premier law enforcement agency exploited garbage intel to justify getting warrants in the FISA Court. Two Fusion GPS employees, Peter Fritsch and Thomas Catan took the Fifth today in the House Intel panel.
Accepting the Steele dossier as real news, the media, members of Congress and Democratic Party blamed Trump for colluding with the Russians. Trump wants to know who paid for the dossier in addition to the Hillary campaign. Trump’s detractors don’t want to know that their main case against Trump has blown up in their face. “Workers of the firm involved with the discredited and fake Dossier take the 5th,” Trump tweeted today. “Who paid for it, Russia, the FBI, or the Dems [or all]?” asked Trump. No one has more to lose than former FBI Director James Comey who should be indicted for abusing his authority at the FBI. Exposing the political motives of the dossier, the public now knows that Democrats and the mainstream press forged ahead with their fake theory about Russian interference in the 2016 election. Now that it’s out-in-the-open, it’s time to get the record straight.
