Seeking urgent funding for Ukraine and Israel, 81-year-old President Joe Biden signaled he might bypass his party’s left wing and agree to fund more security at the Mexican border. Border funding is a contentious issue for Democrats believing that U.S. asylum laws should be generously applied to any migrant claiming persecution to qualify under current laws. But most border experts know that the sheer volume of asylum seekers entering from the southern border is not sustainable, with Biden finally getting the message. Biden would not consider compromising on border security without Republicans holding up his demand for $60 billion in additional funding for his proxy war against the Russian Federation. Only a handful of conservative Republicans oppose the Ukraine War, largely because of the Russian hysteria sweeping Capitol Hill.
Secretary of 61-year-old Secretary of State Antony Blinken continues to spew Ukrainian propaganda about the urgency to supplying Kiev with more cash-and-weapons. “This is a time to really step up because if we don’t, we know what happens. (Russian President Vladimir), Putin will be able to move forward with impunity and we know he won’t stop in Ukraine,” Blinken said, putting the same screws to Congress as 45-year-old Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Biden and Blinken have sold Congress on the fake premise that Putin would invade Europe if the White House didn’t give Ukraine another $60 billion in war funding. Biden and Blinken provide no proof of their claims that Putin would invade Europe if the White House can’t fund the Ukraine War.
So, Congress must take the White House word on a dubious proposition, denying that NATO would respond in the event of a Russian invasion. Biden and Blinken actually suggest that only U.S. war funding for Ukraine can stop Putin from invading Europe. What does that say about the NATO alliance? Warning without more Ukraine funding, it would force the U.S. to send American troops to Ukraine or other parts of Europe to fight a Russian invasion. Biden and Blinken conveniently cover up how the Feb. 24, 2022 Ukraine invasion started in the first place. Biden told the world that the Russian invasion was “unprovoked and unjustified” but was it really? Putin asked Biden for months before the invasion to discuss new security arrangements for Ukraine. Zelensky was asking NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltengerg to fast-track Ukraine into NATO membership.
Zelensky hounded Stoltenberg for years about fast-track NATO membership, knowing that it provoked Putin into eventually invading. But what really pushed Putin over the edge was the U.S. arming Ukraine to the teeth with a range of offensive and defensive weapons. Biden refused to sit down with Putin and work out a deal, prompting Putin to invade Feb. 24, 2022. Blinken’s pitch to continue funding the proxy war against the Kremlin has failed to yield any measurable results, unless, of course, you ask Kiev. Zelensky continues to say he’s winning the Ukraine War, all he needs is more cash-and-weapons. Yet judging by the objective analysis of Ukraine’s own chief Gen. Valery Zaluzhny Nov. 2, the war is a “stalemate,” something rejected by Zelensky. Zelensky thinks if he tells the truth to Congress or the European Uniion he will lose billions in U.S. and NATO funding.
Congress hasn’t caught up with Biden’s failure in the Ukraine War, realizing that his promise of vanquishing the Russian military have all proven false. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said April 26, 2022 that the aim of U.S. arming Ukraine was to degrade the Russian military to the point it could no longer wage war. Biden and Austin’s promises of degrading the Russia military was confirmed in the GOP’s third debate Nov. 9 in Miami when Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) said he agreed with the U.S. mission in Ukraine to degrade the Russian military. Biden and Blinken haven’t delivered on their mission in Ukraine, either to drive Russia out of Ukraine or to degrade the Russian military. Yet Blinken pleads with Congress to give Ukraine another $60 billion in cash. Zelensky, like Biden and Blinken, has warned about a Russian takeover of Europe without more war funding.
U.S. lawmakers need to wake up to the reality of the Ukraine War: It cannot deliver to degrade the Russian military or drive Russia from Ukraine. Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Miley got himself in trouble saying there was no military solution in Ukaiane. Like Ukrainian Gen. Valery Zaluzhny, Miley was roundly discredited by the White House for admitting the Ukraine War only had a political solution. Instead of wasting more taxpayer cash, Congress should put a deadline on funding before insisting on ceasefire and peace talks. If Zelensky had accepted Putin’s conditions in March 2022 for ending the invasion, Ukraine would not have been decimated by a nearly two-year conflict. Kiev’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko, leader of the Feb. 22, 2014 Maiden Revolution, said Zelensky and his security team would have to account for their failures.
