Losing her House seat in a landslide Aug. 17, 56-year-old Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wy.) clings to what’s left of her anti-Trump career, now going after 57-year-old House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. McCarthy stands to become House Speaker when the Nov. 8 Midterm elections expect to toss Democrats from power. Most analysts have the GOP a lock on the Midterm elections, especially for the House and most likely for the Senate. Cheney, who co-chairs, the Jan. 6 House Select Committee, has another two months before she’s in the dust bin, wasting her career going after former President Donald Trump. Cheney, along with other House Democrats, are ready to convict Trump of the high crimes and misdemeanors they couldn’t convict him of in two impeachment trials. Cheney has stated emphatically that Trump organized and planned the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.
McCarthy irked Cheney commenting that when Republicans take control of the House they’re not going to give 44-year-old Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a blank check to fund his bankrupt government and the war against 70-year-oldt Russian President Vladimir Putin. Cheney accused McCarthy of being on Putin’s team, questioning anything about the Ukraine War. “The fact that he’s willing to go down the path of suggesting that America will no longer stand for freedom, I think, tells you he’s willing to sacrifice everything for his won political gain,” Cheney said on NBC’s “Meet the Press. Why anyone would quote the lame duck Cheney, knowing she’s out of Congress in January is anyone’s guess. Cheney hurls accusations at unprecedented pace, not accusing McCarthy of disloyalty to America. McCarthy wants accountability and a plan to end the eight-month old Ukraine War.
Cheney knows how to insult people, telling McCarthy he no longer stands for freedom. There are plenty of loyal patriots who think the Ukraine War should be moved from the battlefield to the peace table. All McCarthy said he needs to look carefully on the growing price tag of the Ukraine war, now exceeding $66 billion. “It’s not a free blank check,” McCarthy said last week, in an apparent break from the U.S. Senate. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky) wants “to do more to supply the tools Ukraine needs to thwart Russian Aggression,” McConnell said, not realizing that the peacemaking process could end the need for Zelensky to get an endless amount of U.S. cash-and weapons. For Cheney, who’s on her way out of Congress, to accuse McCarthy of self-serving game-playing is preposterous. Why wouldn’t any responsible House Speaker want more accountability?
Cheney said that McCarthy is unfit for duty as House Speaker, positioning himself as the “leader of the pro-Putin wing” of the Republican Party. Cheney couldn’t stop her nastiness, shown in her treatment of 76-year-old former President Donald Trump. Because Cheney blames Trump for destroying her House career, she has a vendetta against the former president. Cheney has said on many occasions Trump planned and orchestrated the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, something not supported by facts only wild speculation. Cheney says McCarthy only chooses to serve his personal ambitions, not for the country. Calling McCarthy not “fit for office” and his lack of support for the Ukrainian people “dangerous” Cheney said “he knows better.” But who’s creating the danger for U.S. national security, McCarthy, or 79-year-old President Joe Biden’s proxy war against the Russian Federation.
Cheney has lost any sense of common sense, knowing her House career is over. Cheney knows that the continued Ukraine War threatens the U.S. and EU, pushing the world dangerously close to WW III and nuclear war. Supplying Ukraine unlimited cash-and-lethal weapons has endangered the European Continent. Time is long overdue for moving the Ukraine conflict to U.N. peacemakers who can defuse the conflict and negotiate a ceasefire and lasting peace. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Il.), another lame duck Congressman, said McCarthy showed “an utter lack of leadership,” referring to his attitude toward the heavily biased Jan. 6 House Committee. Kinzinger has joined Democrats to do anything possible to charge Trump with a crime and prevent him from running in 2024. No House committee in U.S. history has been more biased, more willing to charge and convict Trump.
Cheney has a lot of nerve going after McCarthy the same way former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton went after Trump with her fake Steele dossier in 2016. Hillary accused Trump of being a “Putin puppet,” hoping her fake charge would get he elected. With Cheney and Kinzinger leaving Congress, what credibility do they have now, knowing they destroyed their careers going after Trump? Wyoming voter slammed Cheney for her disloyalty to the Republican Party, going after Trump as her official last stand in office. McCarthy and other elected officials have every right to question Biden’s prosy war against the Russian Federation. Why should Biden trash U.S.-Russian relations all because he wants to fight a proxy war against Putin. Cheney doesn’t think of the dangers to U.S. and EU of keeping the Ukraine going without any effort at peacemaking.
