Accusing 79-year-old House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and 59-year-old Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) of treason, 73-year-old President Donald Trump hopes to shed light on a so-called whistleblower complaint that was apparently closely coordinated with Schiff’s office. Schiff’s been out to get Trump since the early days of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s 22-month-long investigation into Trump’s alleged role with Russia in the 2016 election. Schiff asserted on numerous occasions that he had proof that Trump colluded with the Russians to give him an unfair advantage in the 2016 election. When Mueller announced his findings March 23, he admitted that neither Trump nor anyone in his campaign had any contact with Russian during the 2016 election. Yet Schiff now leads the way on impeachment to remove Trump from office.
Reports today indicate that the first whistleblower and Schiff had contact before the complaint was released to the public. Both Schiff and the whistleblower denied any contact, despite recent reports indicating that they in fact did have contact before the whistleblower report hit the headlines. “Nancy Pelosi knew of all the many Shifty Adam Schiff lies and massive frauds perpetrated upon Congress and the American people,” Trump tweeted today. In closed session with House Intelligence Committee Inspector General [IOIG] Michael Atkinson reports indicate that the whistleblower failed to disclose in his complaint that he had contact before making the complaint with Schiff’s committee. Before the whistleblower’s complaint was made public, Schiff said publicly last week “we have not spoken directly to the whistleblower,” catching the Intel Chairman in an inconsistency.
Trump has accused Schiff and his coterie of writing the whistleblower complaint, though that’s not confirmed. When Pelosi decided to move ahead with impeachment hearings Sept. 24, it was based on the whistleblower’s complaint alleging that Trump pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate the Bidens in exchange for receiving military aid, a kind of quid pro quo. When Trump released the transcript of the July 25 call with Zelensky, there was no mention of any quid pro quo, or strong-arm tactics to dig up dirt on former Vice President and Democrat front-runner Joe Biden. Today’s reports acknowledge that Trump sought information of Joe’s 50-year-old son Hunter, who worked for $50,000 a month for Burisma Holdings, a Cyprus-based Urkainian natural gas company. Hunter had no prior experience in the energy business to receive such a job.
Asking Zelensky to look into Hunter Biden runs counter to Pelosi’s impeachment referral to Schiff that alleges that Trump tried to interfere with the 2020 election by going after a presidential candidate. Hunter Biden is not a presidential candidate, nor can the press assert that going after Hunter was the same as going after Joe. Pelosi’s entire reasoning behind Trump’s alleged high crimes and misdemeanors stem from his interference in the 2020 election. Pelosi and Schiff in pursuing impeachment accuse Trump of “abuse of power,” using his office to go after a Democrat presidential candidate. But if Trump focused on his call with Zelensky on Joe’s son Hunter, it would not violate any U.S. election laws. It’s one thing to leap to the conclusion that Trump went after Hunter to get to Joe but that’s pure speculation. Hunter took cash out of Ukraine from 2015-2019, not Joe.
Trump also wanted to look into Hunter’s involvement with China, reportedly taking millions, if not a billion, dollars for a private equity fund, all when his father served as former President Barack Obama’s VP. If Schiff’s committee insists in its impeachment proceedings that Trump went after Joe, he looks sadly mistaken. Gong after Hunter Biden, who’s not running for anything, would not violate U.S. election laws. Schiff called Trump July 25 phone call with Zelensky as “a classic mafia-style shakedown,” prompting Trump to accuse Schiff of treason. Trump knows what he said on the call and the transcript reveals no intimidation or quid pro quo. “This makes Nervous Nancy every bit as guilty as ‘Liddle Adam Schiff’ for High Crimes and Misdemeanors,” Trump tweeted, knowing that members of Congress are not subject impeachment like members of the executive branch.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff must get the impeachment facts straight, accusing Trump of seeking dirt of Joe Biden. From all accounts available, the president wanted information of Hunter Biden’s alleged corruption in the Ukraine and later in China. Since Hunter is not running for any office, theory behind the impeachment inquiry focuses on the former vice president. Looking into Hunter’s alleged corruption is not something that fits Pelosi and Schiff’s basis for charging Trump with high crimes and misdemeanors. “I guess that means that they, along with all those that evilly ‘Colluded’ with them, must all be immediately impeached,” said Trump, knowing that impeachment is only reserved for the executive branch or federal judges. Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani has retained a Washington law firm to sue Schiff for defamation calling Trump a “mafia boss.”
