Explaining away formerly classified documents showing why former part-time foreign policy Trump aide Carter Page was wiretapped by the FBI, Democrats and the anti-Trump media have all the excuses. Trump tweeted that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russian meddling and alleged Trump collusion investigation was a “witch hunt,” but, more importantly, “a total hoax.” Democrats, led by House Intelligence Committee Co-Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), insist there was plenty of justification for the FBI to investigate Page, going so far to suggest that multiple sources of information pointed to Page working as a spy for the Russian government. Trump and other Republicans on Capitol Hill accused the FBI of duping the Federal Intelligence Surveillance Act [FISA] Court, using former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s paid opposition research AKA “the dossier.”
Schiff and other Democrats tout “the dossier” as gospel, indicating that Trump colluded with Russia, engaging in compromising behavior. It’s Hillary’s paid “dossier” that served as the factual basis behind her strategy of tying President Donald Trump to the Kremlin, despite the fact that the intel community admits that “the dossier” hasn’t been verified. Yet former FBI Director James Comey thought nothing of going to the FISA Court seeking a warrant on Carter Page for allegedly collaborating with the Russians. “So we now find out that it was indeed the unverified and Fake Dirty Dossier that was paid for by Crooked Hillary Clinton and the DNC, that was knowingly & falsely submitted to FISA and which was responsible for starting the totally conflicted and discredited Mueller Witch Hunt,” tweeted Trump. Democrats and the media accuse Trump of misrepresenting the facts.
Democrats and the media insist, together with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fl.), that the FBI did nothing wrong in investigating Page. FBI officials insist that “the dossier” was only one piece of the case against Carter Page. Rubio thinks nothing of the FBI’s secret wiretaps of Carter Page, believing they had probable cause. Democrats and their media friends insist that former President Barack Obama’s Department of Justice, FBI and National Security Agency [NSA] did nothing wrong wiretapping and unmasking Trump campaign officials. When Democrats, the media and FBI insist that they had more evidence to investigate Page, it’s all the more reason why it looks like what Trump calls and witch hunt and hoax. With so much evidence against Page to justify the FISA Court warrants, why did they not charge him with espionage, spying, conspiracy, perjury or any other crime?
Trump laid out the case against Page, letting the FBI and media know that Page was innocent from the get-go, used as a pretext to secretly investigate the Trump campaign. “Carter Page wasn’t a spy, wasn’t an agent of the Russians—he would have cooperated with the FBI. It was a fraud and a hoax designed to target Trump,” said Tom Fitton, head of conservative nonprofit Judicial Watch.. “A disgrace to America. They should drop the discredited Mueller Witch Hunt now!” With all the evidence the media claims against Page, why was he not charged with anything? To qualify for the FISA Court warrant, the law enforcement agency must present compelling evidence of wrongdoing. Without saying it, Obama’s FBI, DOJ and NSA decided at some point in the 2016 campaign, most likely when Trump wrapped up the nomination in May 2106, to begin investigating his campaign.
Democrats and media won’t admit that the Obama White House was using the country’s national security apparatus to discredit the Trump campaign to help Hillary get elected. “It was classified to cover up misconduct by the FBI and Justice Department in misleading the Court by using this Dossier in a dishonest way to gain a warrant to target the Trump team,” said Fitton, coming closest yet to implicating the Obama White House in a conspiracy to used the national security apparatus to sabotage the Trump campaign. “This is a Clinton campaign document. It was a fraud and a hoax designed to target Trump and the DOJ, FBI and Obama Gang need to be held to account,” said Fitton. If Democrats and their media friends insist that Carter Page was targeted by more than “the dossier,” why was Page never charged? The only answer is that Page committed no crimes other than the FBI’s excuse to get to Trump.
Democrats, their media friends and some anti-Trump Republicans like Rubio have an agenda to damage Trump as much as possible before the Midterm elections. It’s hard know Rubio’s motivations other that pure vindictiveness from the 2016 primaries. If there were so much evidence, other than Hillary’s paid opposition research against Trump, why was Page not charged with any crime? Trump believes former Obama officials used “the dossier” to justify wiretaps on the Trump campaign to get Hillary elected. When that backfired, they continued the same narrative that Trump colluded with the Kremlin to win the election. Democrats and the press like to cite all of Mueller’s charges in his Russian meddling investigation. When you really took at what he’s accomplished in over a year, it’s very little. Getting a few perjury charges proves nothing about Russian meddling or alleged collusion in the 2016 election.
