Becoming more irrelevant in the Mideast landscape, Palestinians resort to riots and violence to make headlines. Instead of promoting their cause for an independent state, they show the world that rioting and violence becomes their primary method of public relations. Reacting to President Donald Trump’s Dec. 23, 2017 decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, Palestinians, led by Gaza’s Hamas and the West Bank’s Palestine Liberation Organization [PLO] have amassed thousands of demonstrators on the Israeli border. Since protests broke out in March, 54 protesters have been killed by Israeli Defense Forces [IDF], hundreds more injured for breaching the border fence. Gaza’s rulers, led by Ismail Haniyeh, have told residents the “Great March of Return” to Israel has started, encouraging protesters to break through the secure border fence.

Gaza and West Bank residents have been brainwashed into thinking that they’ll return to paradise in the Holy Land where some of their ancestors once lived before Zionists established the State of Israel May 14, 1948. Palestinians were told during Israel’s war of independence that great Arab forces would eventually destroy Israel, returning Palestinians to their lost homeland. PLO founder Yasser Aratat fought two great Arab wars in 1967 and 1973 to liberate Palestine from the Jews, both ended in abysmal failure. Arafat continued his guerrilla war against Israel until his death Nov. 11, 2004, passing the baton to 56-year-old Haniyeh and 83-year-old Ramallah-based Mahmoud Abbas. Despite lip-service of an independent state, both Haniyeh and Abbas seek to destroy Israel. Most Mideast states, including Syria, want no part of Palestinians’ generational beef with Israel.

Burning tires and hurling Molotov cocktails at Israel’s security fence, Haniyeh and Abbas want to create headlines watching Palestinian youth mowed down by the IDF. Neither Haniyeh nor Abbas put themselves on the front-lines, content to send waves of Palestinian youth to their deaths. Haniyeh and Abbas know there’s no way to destroy Israel, brainwashing Palestinian youth to believe all they need to escape misery in Gaza or the West Bank is to crash through Israel’s security fence. Whatever Trump did recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital has little to do with the senseless demonstrations, riots and mayhem on Israel’s border. Haniyeh and Abbas know sacrificing more Palestinian youth helps draw attention to failed Palestinian cause, no longer front-and-center in today’s Middle East. Most Sunni Arab states are concerned about Iran, not Israel.

Western media outlets like to cover the desperate plight of Palestinians, not failed leadership in Gaza and the West Bank. With Iran at war with Saudi Arabia in Yemen, the Gulf States are no longer funneling cash to Palestinians, something they do periodically when Gaza and Ramallah run out of money. Haniyeh traveled to Cairo to desperately find Egyptian support to oppose Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. While there’s some sympathy for the Palestinian cause, there’s zero interest in mounting Arab resistance against Israel, certainly not another war. Haniyeh wants sympathy from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi knowing Hamas actively seeks with the Muslim Brotherhood to overthrow the Egyptian government. While Haniyeh complains about the Israel’s blockade in Gaza, Egypt also closes its border with the Gaza Strip.

Today’s U.S. embassy opening in Jerusalem and Israel’s 70th anniversary celebration, attended by Trump’s Daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner, is bound to cause more violence. Sending more Palestinians to their deaths, Haniyeh and Abbas want only publicity for their dwindling cause. Once the festivities are over, Palestinians will likely retreat back to quiet desperation. No one, other than gullible Palestinian youth, believe that Hamas and the PLO will conquer Israel, the Mideast’s most powerful military. Haniyeh and Abbas have nothing left other that continuing the fictitious Palestinians narrative: The Israel stole their land. Israel was handed the British Mandate of Palestine by the U.K. in 1948, receiving U.N. recognition as sovereign state May 11, 1949. Before the British took over Palestine in 1920,.it was controlled by the Ottoman Turks for 500 years.

World leaders in Europe and Arab countries are starting to understand the Palestinian mythology of Israeli occupation. Palestinians controlled not one inch of sovereign territory before Israel’s 1948 independence. Abbas let his true views out last week when he blamed the Holocaust on Jewish money-lenders, repeating old Nazi propaganda. Abbas and Haniyeh want to destroy Israel but they can’t. So brainwashing Palestinians to fight hopeless battles is the only way to excuse abysmal living conditions in Gaza and the West Bank. Palestinians want Israel’s prosperity but they don’t want to work for it, only blame Israel. There’s zero interest in the Arab world to fight old Palestinian battles with Israel. If there were any responsible leadership in Gaza or Ramallah, they’d go back to the peace table, not burning tires and hurling Molotov cocktails across the Israeli border.
