Pulling off what looked like an unlikely victory, 70-year-old GOP nominee real estate mogul Donald Trump sent shockwaves through the political establishment and media with a decisive win against 69-year-old Democratic nominee former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Hillary’s supporters looked shell-shocked as they watched the election results roll in at Manhattan’s Jacob Javits Center. When Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania went in Trump’s direction, it was only a matter of time before Hillary’s supporters sank into the unthinkable reality that their candidate had lost to Trump. What made the loss so devastating were months of phony media reports showing Hillary with a commanding lead in the polls, with NBC/WSJ’s polls often showing Hillary with a double-digit leads. Only the USC/LA Times Dornsife poll showed Trump beating Hillary consistently.
While the headlines today read that Trump stunned the establishment looking for change in 2016, the truth about the 2016 race involved unprecedented collusion by major print and broadcast outlets, blurring the line between journalism and working for the Hillary campaign. New Yorker’s magazine-cover, the night before the election, showed Trump with a sign saying “loser,” revealing the extreme antipathy toward the former reality TV star. Venerable newspapers like the New York Times, Washington Post and Boston Globe routinely ran defamatory stories about Trump, rarely saying anything negative about Hillary, including the FBI investigation into her emails or revelations about Hillary’s pay-to-play schemes with Clinton Foundation donors while at the State Department. Even Fox News’s $20 million host Megyn Kelly had it in for Trump since attacking him in the August 28, 2015 debate.
Yesterday’s results spoke volumes about Trump’s ability to connect with struggling workers around the country, especially the Rust Belt, where Trump pulled off upset wins in Wisconsin and Michigan, Hillary’s so-called blue wall. Hilllary’s campaign misjudged the sophistication of today’s voters, engaging in a top-to-bottom propaganda campaign against Trump, essentially telling voters he’s a racist, misogynist and sexist, temperamentally unfit for the Oval Office. Once FBI Director James Comey reopened Hillary’s email case Oct. 28, it reminded voters about her potential legal problems. Trump told her at a CNN town hall debate Sept. 9 that if he becomes president he’d appoint a special prosecutor. Voters heard too much about Hillary’s problems before Comey decided Nov. 5 that he reached the same conclusion as July 3 after reviewing thousands of new emails.
Hillary’s voters felt blindsided Tuesday because the mainstream media all used left-leaning polls, showing Hillary winning the race. Trump told voters Monday that he predicted a Brexit-like results, where pollsters misjudged voter sentiment. After racking up over 279 electoral votes to win the election, Trump no longer talks of a rigged system, despite the media gunning for him during the 18-month campaign. When you consider Trump was attacked by Republicans, Democrats and the press, pulling off the upset was sweet revenge on clearly a “rigged” system. Voters got fed up with Hillary’s constant personal attacks against Trump, focusing more on character than any issues important to voters. Instead to talking about domestic and foreign policy, Hillary’s campaign pounded Trump on his alleged racism, misogynism and sexism. Hillary outspent Trump ten-to-one [$1 billion], flooding airwaves with negative adds.
Focusing only on minutia after Trump’s victory, the mainstream media has taken no responsibility for colluding with Hillary’s campaign to inflict as much damage as possible on Trump. Calling them “dishonest” at campaign rallies to cheering crowds, Trump exposed the fallacy of the U.S. media: They they’re nonpartisan. Media collusion was fully exposed during the 2004 campaign when CBS New anchor Dan Rather was forced to resign for colluding with the campaign of Democratic nominee Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.). No one from any network in the 2016 has been forced out other than CNN’s Democratic operative Donna Brazile who fed Hillary debate questions in advance. Brazile stuttered-and-stammered when questioned Oct. 20 about it by Fox News Megyn Kelly. Brazile had the 100% backing of President Barack Obama, still remaining DNC chairwoman.
When you add up Hillary’s negatives, ordinary voters said enough-was-enough in 2016, opting for change over the status quo. Hillary tried to dodge the bullet but eventually couldn’t get out of the way of unending scandals. Even when confronted with defeat last night, her besieged campaign Chairman John D. Podesta, continued to blow smoke, telling the Javits’audience to go home while the campaign still counted votes. Minutes later, Hillary called Trump to concede, realizing she had lost Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Hillary’s voters were dumbfounded that she lost the election because the mainstream media was so dishonest, averaging polls with egregious left-wing bias. Had the press or Hillary campaign leveled with voters, they wouldn’t have shown so much shock on election night. Harming its own credibility, the media’s got a lot of rehab to do after the election.
