Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace, 73, continues his obsession with the Nov. 3, 2020 election, hammering Rep. Jim Banks (R-In.) on whether he accepts President Joe Biden as a legitimate president. No newsman during the 2020 was more biased against 74-year-old Donald Trump than Fox News Chris Wallace, working day-and-night to see Trump defeated. Wallace hides behind Fox News conservative bent but is anything but, delighted that Biden and Democrats are back in power. Wallace interviewed Banks, chairman of the Republican Study Committee, to get a read on what Republicans plan to do with Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wy.), chairwoman of the House Republican Conference. Banks backs Rep. Elise Stephanki (R-N.Y.), an ardent Trump supporter, to replace Cheney at the earliest possible time. Banks said Cheney is “an unwelcome distraction,” saying that the Party backs former President Trump.
Wallace said Banks seemed “unwilling to discuss” anything about Trump, including the “big lie” that the Nov. 3, 2020 election was riddled with fraud, or, as Trump likes to say, was “rigged.” Wallace accused Banks of being unwilling to discuss anything negative about Trump, including his narrative that he lost the election due to fraud. Wallace subscribes to the “big lie” theory, repeated by the Democrat press, including Wallace, the Trump was cheated by Democrats out of his second term. “I know the belief that I have that a majority of our conference have, that she has lost focus on the single mission that we have in winning back the majority, to push back against the radical Biden agenda, is reason that she needs to be replaced.” Wallace backs Cheney because every liberal news program likes to quote Republicans like Cheney or Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Ut.) that likes ripping Trump.
Wallace didn’t like Banks explanation that Liz Cheney doe not represent the views of the vast majority of Republicans. Watching Biden begin to destroy whatever economic gains were made under the Trump presidency has irked a lot of Republicans that don’t like Biden’s regulatory and tax proposals. Wallace then got nasty with Banks, asking him if he thought Biden was a legitimate president. “Yes, Joe Biden was elected. He was inaugurated on Jan. 20,” Banks told Wallace. “Do you still question whether or not Joe Biden won the election fair and square and got over 270 electoral votes, fair and square?” Wallace asked Banks. Wallace knows that Banks joined Republican challenges in Texas and elsewhere questioning the Electoral College Vote. “I stand by my vote to object on Jan. 6 and stand by the Texas lawsuit. I have serious concerns about how the election in November was carried out,” Banks said.
Wallace pointed out to Banks that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) had said the Trump bears responsibility for the Jan. 6 Capitol riot and mob scene. Wallace asked Banks if he agreed with McCarthy’s remarks. Banks told Wallace that “every Republicans denounced the violence but reminded Wallace that the rabble-rousers planned the Capitol invasion for months. Democrats led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) impeached Trump for “incitement of insurrection,” accusing Trump of inciting a riot with his Jan. 6 speech at the ellipse. Wallace doesn’t report on FBI reports that indicated that the Jan. 6 violence was planned for months and was not caused by anything Trump did or said on Jan. 6. Yet House Democrats swore on a stack of bibles that Trump, and Trump alone, was responsible for the melee that took place in the Capitol, ignoring the FBI’s best evidence to the contrary.
Wallace is so biased toward Trump he’s can do his job objectively as an ethical broadcast journalist. Wallace bought lock-stock-and-barrel Pelosi’s impeachment charge of “incitement of insurrection,” despite knowing that Capitol rioters brought no guns or other instruments of insurrection. Wallace put Banks on the spot but no one puts Wallace under the gun about supporting Democrats and the Press’s Russian hoax that dogged Trump’s presidency for nearly four years. Banks should have asked Wallace whether he believes Trump is a Russian asset, something charged by Pelosi and the Democrat Party from Day One of Trump’s presidency. Wallace has no problem asking Banks if he thinks Biden was a legitimate president. Wallace never asked former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton whether or not Trump was a legitimate president. Hillary said many times Trump was not legitimate.
Wallace held Banks feet to the fire but can’t hold his own feet to the fire when it comes to Democrats and the press’s treatment of Trump. Studies on media bias at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government Shorenstein Center show that press coverage was 95% negative on Trump. By the time the Nov. 3, 2020 election rolled around, Trump was so thoroughly demonized by the press, Biden’s victory was guaranteed. When Trump says the fix was in, he’s referring to the egregious negative press coverage that went on for all four years of his presidency. Wallace likes to repeat the “big lie” about the Nov. 3, 2020 election. But does Wallace and the press want to admit that they had it in for Trump on Day One? Wallace can’t see how he parrots the media bias against Trump. Wallace occupies a unique spot because he’s an anti-Trump journalist on Fox News.
